The 2011 TCGSL season has sadly come to an end, but there is still one last chance for hot softball this weekend! Come out to Northeast Park this Saturday and Sunday and watch teams compete for trophies in the largest TCGSL season ever with 36 teams! The end of season banquet follows the games on Sunday.
End of Season Playoffs
Twice each season, TCGSL reranks teams to provide better competition between teams. As we complete the tenth and final week of regular season play on July 31st, we will once again re-rank teams into their final seeding positions for the 2011 Playoffs (and preliminary 2012 positions). Watch for the final rankings and playoff brackets to be posted around August 2nd. Please remind all players that playoff games will be both Saturday AND Sunday! Some teams may be eliminated on Saturday. Division 1 will play all games on Sunday. Brackets for all five divisions are available for download: 2011 Playoff Brackets-final.pdf
The next managers meeting will be held on Monday, September 19th at 7pm at Northeast Park (inside the park building!). Please note the change in location for this season!! The Northeast Park building entrance is right next the playground and Field 6 - enter from the park side of the building.
The 2011 teams are currently full. Please contact us if there are changes to your team (like name changes, or dropping/adding a team).
The last day to register a new team was Monday, March 21st. Online player registration is no longer available. Any new players must submit a paper registration form with their player fees before stepping onto the field. All teams are reporting full rosters, so we are unable to assist anyone still looking for a team, but we welcome all to come out the fields, watch some games, and talk to teams about openings.
Team fees currently remain at $350 and are due by the March manager's meeting. Player fees remain at $65 per player through week 5.
Online schedules have been published - check the Schedules link on the menu or look under Documents/Handouts for a printable grid schedule.
TCGSL All-Star Game and Picnic - Sunday, July 10th
Join the celebration of summer as we cheer on team Minneapolis vs Team St Paul - the TCGSL All-Stars! Players representing each TCGSL team will participate in a 5 inning game as TCGSL provides food and refreshments - all around Field 6 starting at 12:30pm on Sunday, July 10th.
Fall Ball 2011
The TCGSL 2011 Summer season may have drawn to a close last weekend, but that doesn't mean there's no more softball in 2011 - there's still Fall League! Join us this fall for four Saturdays of relaxed play at Northeast Park.
When: Saturdays September 10th, 17th, 24th, and October 1st
Where: Northeast Park - Field 4
Cost: $200 per team (no per player cost, but most teams split this up as about $15 per player)
Fall league is very relaxed - no requirement for uniforms, no set rosters, just fun softball each weekend and a chance to see your softball friends or make new ones. For anyone considering joining TCGSL next season, this is a good opportunity to try out the league and make contacts for your 2012 team!

World Series Celebration!
Join us this Saturday to celebrate the teams that participated in the 2011 Gay Softball World Series in Chicago - and help out one of our sister leagues at the same time! The Edge, Frostbite, Mess, Sabres, and Titans all made the trek to Chicago in August to compete - and the Titans brought home hardware!!
During the series, we learned about the struggles our sister league in New Orleans has been having to rebuild their softball fields after Hurricane Katrina. To date, there is only one field that has been completely repaired (by the gay league, no less), but the entire city has just two flelds for competitive play. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support the New Orleans league for reclaiming and repairing the main city pinwheel complex for softball. Come join us at the Saloon!
TCGSL Hosts 2010 NAGAAA Cup
This
year, NAGAAA has kicked off a new Invitational Tournament format for A
& B teams called the NAGAAA Cup. This tournament is invitation
only with invitations issued from NAGAAA HQ. The Twin Cities has been
selected to host the inagural NAGAAA Cup tournament in conjunction with
our annual North Star Classic over Memorial Day weekend! TCGSL is
excited to be the host for two fantastic tournaments and is looking
forward to welcoming 80 or more teams to the Twin Cities this May!
Whether
you are participating in the NAGAAA Cup, the North Star Classic, or
just want to cheer on the teams that are playing, mark May 28th-30th on
your calendars! Visit www.northstarclassic.com for details on the
tournaments, events, and hotels.

Miss TCGSL Pageant
Big applause goes out to each of the five teams that participated
in the 2010 Miss TCGSL Pageant last Sunday at Solera. Congratulations
to the Phoenix for their amazing number! You can find it (and other
Miss TCGSL acts) archived on You Tube if you missed the show.
League Playoffs and Banquet
The 2010 season has sadly come to a close. The league playoffs will be
Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st at Northeast Park. The 2010
Banquet will follow on Sunday evening at the Nicollet Island Pavillion.
Doors open at 6, Food by 7, Program shortly after. The banquet is FREE
to TCGSL members. Guests may attend for $20 each paid at the door.
Cash bars available.
The Playoff Brackets are now available! Click here to download. Brackets have been updated to reflect corrections in Division 4 (Grizzlies vs. Inn Keepers) and field assignments on Sunday.
The Mis-Matched Game Returns!
Please keep in mind that TCGSL operates two five week seasons
within the Summer League. The Spring schedule runs from April 25-May
23rd. Following this season, we rerank teams and play another five
weeks until the end of season playoffs on July 31st and August 1st.
TCGSL may be taking a brief break from regular league games, but there are still plenty of things to do! Here are some updates for upcoming TCGSL events!
Miss TCGSL Date Change
Due to a scheduling conflict, the date for the 2010 Miss TCGSL Pageant has changed!! The funniest, craziest event of the TCGSL season will now be on Sunday, July 11th, so mark your calendars and start working on your act - you have one less week to rehearse than you thought!!
The show will go on at 7pm, July 11th, at Solera whether you're ready or not!
All-Star Game and Picnic
The TCGSL All-Star Game and picnic will be this Sunday, June 20th. Regular league game times have be adjusted to allow everyone to take part in the mid-day food and fun. Make sure you check the schedule for the right game times since we start early (9am!) and finish a little later than usual this weekend.
The All-Star Game and Picnic will be held on and around Field 6 this year. This is a change from the past to give us a little more room to spread out for food distribution and more room along the sidelines to watch the game and cheer on your favorite All-Star! Come out and join us this weekend - the food and game are compliments of TCGSL and our generous supporters!
World Series Playoffs - June 12th and 19th
With six teams vying for two berths to represent TCGSL in the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series tournament this fall, we have to settle it somehow - so why not more softball! The Edge, Heat, Mess, Phoenix, Racers, and Swingers will challenge each other playoff-style on the field! Games will start at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 12th at Rich Valley Park in Inver Grove Heights. It's a little drive, but will be worth it for the excitement and competition to see who gets to play at the massive 31-field complex in Columbus.
Halfway through the playoff games, Mother Nature took her toll on the fields and games had to be suspended. The Edge, Heat, Mess, and Phoenix will continue their quest next Saturday, June 19th at Rich Valley, starting at 10am.
MVP and Spirit Award Votes due June 14th
Start thinking about how your team will vote for your team MVP and the TCGSL Spirit Award. Each team can name one MVP to be awarded at the end-of-season banquet on August 1st at Nicollet Island Pavilion. Also, prepare you TCGSL Team Spirit Award vote. Each team gets one vote in each category to select the team that (a) exhibits Team Spirit on the field, (b) exhibits Team Spirit off the field (supports other teams and events), and (c) exhibits Team Spirit by supporting the league. More info on each of these votes will be distributed to the team managers soon.
TCGSL Mid-season Re-ranking and New Schedules
With five weeks in the books, it's time to shake things up and face some new competition for the last half of the season. The schedule refresh was expected today, but the master scheduler's brain is a little wrecked from NSC planning and team schedule requests. Look for updated stats and new schedules later this week.

Important League Schedule Changes
Due to a number of teams unable to play on Saturday after the change in normal league games, we have had to adjust the schedule for weeks four and five. Only one game had a time change, but several others have field or opponent changes - these are marked in orange. Some teams coordinated makeup games to be able to play rather than forfeit and these are shown in green.
The dynamic online schedule has also been adjusted to reflect these changes.

Thank You for A Fantastic 2009 Season!
The 2009 summer softball season has sadly come to a close, but that doesn't mean an end to TCGSL softball this year - the NAGAAA World Series will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin August 30-September 6th and TCGSL will be back for four fun weeks of Fall League softball.
Fall League begins September 12th and runs four consecutive Saturdays at Northeast Athletic Fields. Fall league is a bit more relaxed than summer league. Depending on the number of interested teams, there may be one or more divisions. Teams (and rosters) are typically more relaxed as players come out for fun softball in a friendly environment.
Fall League Details
Dates: September 12, 19, 26, and October 3rd
Cost: $200 per team (due by Sept 12) - most teams split this cost among all of the players
Teams must keep the name of a summer TCGSL team.
Players do not have to have played in the summer league (but must have a player form on file or fill one out before playing).

2009 Season Playoffs
August 1st & 2nd - Northeast Athletic Fields
Now
that we have completed all 10 weeks of the regular season, teams have been divided into four divisions based on
end-of-season results and rankings. Following the division breaks,
teams were seeded for playoff games based on their record within their
division - games against teams in other divisions were considered for
league ranking, but not for playoff seeding.
The 2009 playoffs will be held at Northeast Athletic Fields on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd starting at 8:30 am on Saturday and 9:00 am on Sunday.
This
will be a traditional double-elimination tournament, but at least two teams in
each division will be eliminated on Saturday. Championship
games are scheduled for 2:25pm Sunday with if-needed games immediately
following (in cases where neither team has experienced two losses).
Playoff
rules are the same as regular season league rules. 3/2 count (some
refer to this as starting with 1 ball and 1 strike). 1 courtesy foul.
Unlimited batting order/roster (all players must have qualified for the
league during the regular season). One hour time limit for all games
except championship games. Teams who enter an ineligible player into
the game will be disqualified from the tournament.
In
the winners bracket (undefeated teams), the high seed will choose if
they are home or visitor. In the losers bracket, high seed calls the
coin toss for home/visitor. In the championship game, the undefeated
team chooses home/visitor. In if-needed game, high seed calls the coin
toss.
After 10 weeks and 20 games, the results are in - the final season standings for TCGSL teams for the 2008 season. These standings are used to determine division splits (four 8-team divisions in 2008) and will also be the starting point for 2009 beginning-of-season rankings. The playoff seedings for each division can and will differ from this list because this standing list counts all 20 games for each team, but the playoff seeding only counts games against other teams within your division - games outside of your division are discarded and not used in playoff seedings.

Week 5 Standings - Mid-season Re-ranking
Now that the Spring Season is complete, TCGSL is re-ranking all 34 teams based on the standings after the first five weeks of games. The current rank listed below is the new seeding for the second half of the season. New schedules will be posted (and linked on the home page) as soon as they are ready. Week 7 schedules need some tweaking to carve out the All-Star game break.
After the end of the Summer Season, teams will again be re-ranked and seeded into the end of season playoffs using the same formula used to develop these standings all season long.

2009 End-of-Season Awards Banquet
The 2009 Banquet will be held at the Nicollet Island Pavilion on Sunday, August 2nd. Doors open at 6pm with a cash bar. Food service starts by 7pm with the program shortly thereafter.
Players and other league members can attend for free (must be listed on the official team roster). Guests can attend for $20 at the door.
Parking is available in nearby lots or along city streets (most are free, some have meters)
Nicollet Island Pavilion 40 Power St Minneapolis, MN 55401
Due
to the poor weather and field conditions, the Opening Day games had to
be canceled just as the day started. All week one games will be moved
to June 7th. Any innings played on April 26th are nullified and do not
count - all games start over. The online schedules have been updated
to reflect this change.
Week 2 games will be played as originally scheduled on May 3rd..
This
move adjusts the TCGSL schedule by pushing the games from Weeks 6-10
one week later. Reranking of teams will occur after the June 7th games
with Week 6 games played on June 14th. Week 10 games will now be
played on what was the rain weekend (July 25th). Playoffs will be
August 1st & 2nd as originally planned.
Thanks for Supporting TCGSL at the 2009 Minnesota AIDS Walk
Thank you to all of the league members, fans, and supporters for making the TCGSL contingent at the Minnesota AIDS Walk a success! We saw about 100 league members at the walk and many more were supporting in the background or as a part of other walking teams. With over $6,000 raised for MAP, TCGSL was the third-ranked fundraising team at this year's walk.
Join us for the TCGSL Fall League every Saturday in September. This year, 9 teams have registered and will play double headers each week. Want to play, but didn't find a team? No problem - just show up on Saturday and Northeast and there's usually room for a few pickup players. Anyone who did not play in the summer league will have to submit a new player form before playing, but there is no individual player fee in fall (just a $200 per team fee due in week one).
Thank you for a Successful 30th Year! Join us for Fall League in September!
The 2008 Summer Season of TCGSL softball has sadly come to an end. Eleven weeks of softball, an exciting North Star Classic Tournament, and many fun events and fundraisers later, the 30th season of summer ball is done, but 2008 Fall League is just around the corner! Join us at Northeast Athletic Fields for four bonus weeks of ball September 6, 13, 20, and 27. Have a team and want to enter? Drop us an email to register. Want to play, but need to find a team? No problem - fill out the "New Player Information" form and let us know.
Fall league tends to be a much more relaxed version of ball than the summer league. Few teams have uniforms for fall league, rosters are more relaxed, and teams head out for some friendly competition. Registration is $200 per team (no individual player fees, although most teams split the cost amongst the players). Teams do have to form under the name of a summer team. Players who did not play in the 2008 summer league must also submit a player registration form (but no membership fee).
Congratulations to the four teams who will be representing TCGSL at the NAGAAA World Series 2008 in Seattle, Washington August 25th - 30th. For the B division, Saints and Stealth, and for the C division, Edge and Mess.Â
The next league managers meeting will be September 15th at Painter Park, Minneapolis.

The league calendar has been updated and is now hosted through Google calendars. This means that those of you using Google's tools can now automatically add TCGSL events to your own calendar and find out when the league has games or teams have fundraisers scheduled. Want to add your team event to the league calendar? Just invite fundraisers@tcgsl.org and your event will show up automatically!
Now that we have completed all 10 weeks of the regular season (with no rainouts!), teams have been divided into four divisions based on
end-of-season results and rankings. Following the division breaks,
teams were seeded for playoff games based on their record within their
division - games against teams in other divisions were considered for
league ranking, but not for playoff seeding.
2008 playoffs will be held at Northeast Athletic Fields on Saturday, August 2nd and Sunday, August 3rd starting at 9:00 am on both days.
This will be a traditional double-elimination tournament, but two teams in each division will be eliminated on Saturday.
Teams who enter an ineligible player into
the game will be disqualified.
In
the winners bracket (undefeated teams), the high seed will choose if
they are home or visitor. In the losers bracket, high seed calls the
coin toss for home/visitor. In the championship game, the undefeated
team chooses home/visitor. In if-needed game, high seed calls the coin
toss.
TCGSL is taking two weeks off to celebrate Pride and Independence Day, but we have big plans to make a splash for our return!
2007 Season Playoffs
August 4-5. 2007, Northeast Athletic Fields
For 2007, teams have been divided into four divisions based on end-of-season results and rankings. Following the division breaks, teams were seeded for playoff games based on their record within their division - games against teams in other divisions were considered for league ranking, but not for playoff seeding.
2007 playoffs will be held at Northeast Athletic Fields on Satuday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th starting at 9:00 am on both days. This will be a traditional double-elimination tournament, but at least one team per division will be eliminated on Saturday. Championship games are scheduled for 2:25pm Sunday with if-needed games immediately following (in cases where neither team has experienced two losses).
Playoff rules are the same as regular season league rules. 3/2 count (some refer to this as starting with 1 ball and 1 strike). 1 courtesy foul. Unlimited batting order/roster (all players must have qualified for the league during the regular season). One hour time limit for all games except championship games. Teams who enter an ineligible player into the game will be disqualified.

Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean TCGSL Softball is done - Fall Ball is Here!
After another successful season and a brief break, TCGSL is back with Fall Ball 2007. Fall Ball is very relaxed. It is a great place to practice your skills, meet some new friends, or for new players, see what the Goodtime Softball League is all about.
If you want to register your team, or you are an individual looking for a team, contact the Assistant Commissioner, Ralph Calico, at ralph@tcgsl.org. Please note: unlike the summer league, Fall Ball games are onSATURDAYS (September 8, 15, 22 & 29).
Deadline for team registration is Wednesday, August 29th. Schedule will be posted Tuesday, September 4th.
Fall Ball does not charge player fees, but does require a $200 team fee to cover the league expenses (Due on the first Saturday of play). Most teams split this team fee among the players on the roster. Those who played in the 2007 spring/summer league do not need to fill out another player form, but anyone not on a spring/summer 2007 roster must sign and submit a TCGSL Player Form (available under "Handouts/Documents" on this site) prior to playing.
2007 NAGAAA World Series
Congratulations to the Outlaws and Sluggers - the winners of the 2007 C-Division World Series playoffs held June 2nd. These teams will join the Stealth, Saints, and Mess to represent TCGSL in the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series this October in Phoenix, AZ.
TCGSL 2007 End-of Season Rankings
After 11 weeks of play and 20 games per team, the final numbers are in. Here is the list teams have been awaiting - the end-of-season rankings for the 2007 season. These rankings will also be used as the starting point for the 2008 season.
Please note that division breaks do not follow normal NAGAAA ratings breaks, so we are referring to them numerically (or colorfully!)

Up to 4 pick-up players OK with good faith committment to play with that team in the series ( and meet all other qualifications - must qualify in TCGSL this season with ten games)

Teams who qualify must submit a $300 hotel deposit to NAGAAA by July 15th (will be returned once you stay in a NAGAAA hotel for the series)
Rules for determining World Series C Division Teams
Two teams can represent TCGSL at the NAGAAA 2007 World Series in C Division.
The two teams will be determined through a round-robin playoff.
The two teams with the most wins in the playoff will represent TCGSL in the C Division World Series tournament.
In the event more than two teams have the top qualifying win records due to winning record ties, the following criteria is used to determine the World Series qualifier(s):
Start with the first criteria and continue until a winner(s) is determined.
1. Most wins Head to Head.
i.e. Team A and Team B have the same win record. Team A beats Team B in their only game together. Team A wins. If there is not a clear winner using this criteria move to Criteria 2.
2. Most total runs scored during the playoffs.
i.e. Team A scored 20 runs during the playoff and Team B scored 27 runs during the playoff. Team B wins. Note: Only the runs in a 7 inning game will be counted towards the total runs scored/allowed
If there is an extra inning game, runs scored/allowed in innings 8, 9 , 10 for example would not count towards/against any team. If there is not a clear winner using this criteria move to Criteria 3.
3. Least total runs allowed during the playoffs.
i.e. Team A allowed 14 runs during the playoffs and Team B allowed 21. Team A wins. Only the runs in a 7 inning game will be counted towards the total runs scored/allowed If there is an extra inning game, runs scored/allowed in innings 8, 9 , 10 for example would not count towards/against any team. If there is not a clear winner using this criteria move on to Criteria 4.
4. Winner of coin toss.
UIC leads coin toss. Highest seed chooses heads or tails. Winner qualifies for World Series. Note: In case of three-way tie, two tosses will occur. First Toss: highest seed vs. second highest seed, Second Toss: loser of first toss vs. lowest seed.
Invite all your friends, family and league counterparts to come cheer on your team. I anticipate this year being as exciting as last.
Good Luck!
2007 Season Information
All games will be at Northeast Athletic Fields (official address is 1615 Pierce St NE, but if you map 1500 Filmore St NE, 55413 you will get better directions)
Like last year, TCGSL will operate three seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Spring and Summer seasons will each consist of five weeks, but teams will only register once. Players cannot switch teams between spring and summer seasons without commissioner approval. The league is using this schedule to allow for teams that are misranked for the spring season to be moved for the summer season and keep the games fun and competitive. Fall season will remain a separate, standalone season in September.
The season kick-off party will be held at the Mineapolis Eagle/Bolt on Saturday, April 28th starting at 6pm.
While we love new members for the league, most teams are full for the Spring season. Fill out the New Player Information form if you would like to be on the list in case teams have openings, or check back for the fall league.
Players must be registered and have submitted a player form and payment ($65) to a league officer prior to playing their first game. Players who play in a game before an officer receives the form and payment will be cause for automatic forfeiture of any game they play in.
Donuts and other warm up weights on bats are illegal per ASA rules. Weighted sleeves that cover the bat may be used.
Miss TCGSL is scheduled for Sunday, July 15th - start picking out your frock and number!
Fall League 2006
Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn't mean TCGSL Softball is done - Fall Ball is Here! After another successful season and a brief break for the NAGAAA World Series and Labor Day, TCGSL is back with Fall League 2006. To date, six teams have signed up to play, but if you aren't on a team, feel free to contact Peter at membership@tcgsl.org or show up at Northeast fields September 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Please note that unlike the summer league, Fall League games are on SATURDAYS.
Fall league does not charge player fees, but does require a $200 team fee to cover the league expenses. Most teams split this team fee among the players on the roster. Those who played in the 2006 summer league do not need to fill out another player form, but anyone not on a summer 2006 roster must sign and submit a TCGSL Player Form (available under "Handouts/Documents" on this site) prior to playing.

Mac Grillz has informed the league that they will be unable to field a team for the playoffs, so they are not included in the seedings and no games against Mac Grillz were counted for seeding purposes. 2. Seedings are based on intradivisional games only - no games outside of your division (as listed above) were counted for these seedings. See the official playoff brackets for the win/loss record and percentage used to determine the seeding order. 3. All games will follow the same rules as during the regular season (including the 3/2 count, batting, etc.), but all games will have two umpires. 4. 60 minute time limit on playoff games 5. Home team choice in the winners bracket will be made by the higher seeded team. In the losers bracket, higher seeded team calls the coin toss.
2006 Season Rankings
After 20 regular season games, the results are in! Keep in mind that these rankings are based on overall league play for the entire 10-week season to determine division breaks for the playoffs and will be the starting point for ranking teams for the 2007 season. The playoff seedings will be different from these season rankings since the playoff seeds are based solely on win/loss record against other teams within your division (inter-divisional games are ignored for playoff seeding purposes, but used for overall league rankings). Without further ado....here they are! (with playoff divisions noted)

Nominations are due June 4th - one player per team will participate and teams will be coached by the 2005 first place team coaches. T-shirts are still available from Ralph for $10 each and benefit the league. All star game and family picnic will be July 9th mid-day.
North Star Classic:
The NSC is this weekend! Opening/registration party at the Saloon, closing at Trixx. Games will be in Eagan as in past years. There are still teams looking for players, so contact Billy or show up at the registration party if you are looking for a team for the weekend. They do still need volunteers to help with registration and other tournament events over the weekend.
Hall of Fame:
Hall of Fame nominations extended to May 31st - none received so far for 2006. Any player, coach, fan, sponsor, or other league supporter involved with the league for at least seven years qualifies - check out www.tcgsl.org for the qualifications, nomination form, and current inductees.
World Series C Playoffs:
The C division is the only one needing a playoff since four teams want to go (and there are only two slots). Scheduled Saturday, June 3rd. Games will start at 10:00am on two fields - round robin format. Rosters are due to Ralph on May 27th.
World Series playoff seeds are:
1 - Arrest 2 - Outlaws 3 - Sluggers 4 - Spikes
All NAGAAA World Series Guidelines and Rules will be enforced including: - 4-3 count with no courtesy foul - max 11 batters (10 players + EH) - ASA sub rules apply - 2 umpires - 60 minutes or 7 innings (no mercy rule since total runs count in tiebreaker) - 2005 player ratings are used for existing players (new players must be rated before the playoff) - Up to four pick-up players OK with GOOD FAITH committment to play with that team in the series (and meet all other qualifications - must qualify in TCGSL this season with ten games) - Straight player rules apply (no more than two, must have qualified in the league in 2005 and 2006) - Teams who qualify must submit a $250 hotel deposit to NAGAAA by July 15th (will be returned once you stay in a NAGAAA hotel for the series)
Teams should book travel through www.nagaaasoftball.org (for the World Series, or any other tournament or trip) since this benefits NAGAAA and reduces their expenses (and hopefully their fees!)

Hall of Fame Nominations -Extended to May 31st!
The TCGSL Hall of Fame is in it's third season and is seeking nominations for 2006 inductees. Any player, fan, sponsor, or other person affiliated with the league for at least seven years is eligible for nomination, but your nomination is due now for consideration in 2006! Check out the Hall of Fame information and nomination forms - all available in the Handouts/Documents section of this site (see the menu on the left side of the page) and the Hall of Fame page.
The Hall of Fame Booster Club is also seeking donations to help sustain and promote the Hall of Fame recognition program. The Hall of Fame is intended to be a self-supporting operation within the league to recognize the players, fans, league leaders, and others who have made TCGSL one of the greatest, and one of the largest, gay softball leagues in the US!
Make a booster club donation of $50 or more and receive a spiffy TCGSL embroidered shirt as a thank you for your support!
The Week Two games that were rained out last Sunday have now been rescheduled under direction from the league officers and will be played on June 4th, 2006 (i.e Week Six) at the same time/fields as originally scheduled for April 30th. This will push the season into eleven weeks with the final week of games being played on the original rain date. Should we have another rainout situation this season, the games could be scheduled for the open fields at 4:30pm over several weeks. This extension of the season allows us to make up the games without affecting the teams that requested different scheduling to accommodate the AIDS Walk and prevents the need for 8:55am games. Team realignment (i.e. re-ranking) will occur after these games have been played and the schedule for June 11th games will be posted online by June 6th. Teams can plan for week six by looking at their week one schedule - the top-ranked teams will play afternoon games and the lower ranked teams will have morning games.
2006 Season Information
All games will be at Northeast Athletic Fields (official address is 1615 Pierce St NE, but if you map 1500 Filmore St NE, 55413 you will get better directions)
This year, TCGSL will operate three seasons: Spring, Summer, and Fall. The Spring and Summer seasons will each consist of five weeks, but teams will only register once. Players cannot switch teams between spring and summer seasons without commissioner approval. The league is trying this schedule to allow for teams that are misranked for the spring season to be moved for the summer season and keep the games fun and competitive. Fall season will remain a separate, standalone season in September.
Rankings and game schedules will be decided at the April 17th executive board meeting - it is important that each team have a representative at this meeting. Schedules will be created and posted on this site following the meeting. All game weekends are already on the league calendar (see the calendar link on the left, or check out the upcoming events at the bottom of the home page).
The season kick-off party will be held at the Mineapolis Eagle/Bolt on Saturday, April 22nd.
There are still players looking for teams - contact Peter at membership@tcgsl.org if you are looking for players.
Miss TCGSL 2006 Pageant - June 18th - Saloon
It's that time of year again - time to hang up your cleats, throw on a frock and some heels, and show your moves for the annual Miss TCGSL Pageant. The 2006 pageant will be held at the Saloon in Minneapolis and is presented by ID Lube. Check back for more details, but start working on your number. The Spurs will be back to defend their 2005 title, but will your team emerge to be crowned with the tiara in 2006? As always, all teams are encouraged to enter to make the night an exciting league event!
Weather Reminder: While we have been fortunate to have had plenty of beautiful, warm, sunny weather leading up to our kick off, this is spring in Minnesota. With a wet Saturday leading into week one games, TCGSL would like to remind our players and fans to expect that games will be played as scheduled unless you are notified otherwise by the league.
Our experience at Northeast Athletic Fields have shown few weather-related problems - the fields drain well, and are playable even with a lot of rain prior to the games. The Assistant Commissioner and UIC will review the field conditions on Sunday morning and make a determination on whether the fields are safe to use or not - please assume that games will be played. Should there be a delay or cancellation of games for any reasons, the team managers will be notified by phone and an update will be posted on this page (in a red box) as soon as the decision has been made.
