    Mudhens Come Up Short
January 13, 2008  --   The Mudhens posted a run late in the fourth quarter, but came up short in the end losing to Dale Haley 10-8. The Mudhens came out gunning early in the game behind 2 quick buckets from Ben Davis and Jeremiah Gifford, but quickly came to a screeching halt when the Mudhens became cold in the 2nd and 3rd quarters by not scoring until late in the 4th quarter getting a bucket from Geoffrey Smith and a deep 15 footer from Kyle Montgomery in the final 10 seconds of the game. However, after a time-out called by Coach Blaine for a last second attempt to steal the ball; Dale held the ball utnil time expired.

The Mudhens poor shooting night was capped off by a 4 for 21 effort resulting in 19% from the field. Davis led the team with 3 rebounds and 3 steals, followed by Gifford with 1 rebound and 3 steals. GT Smith had one blocked shot. The Mudhens will practice on Monday at 5:30 at the Evangelistic Center. Their next game will be the Mudhens 1st Away Game at Dale, they will play Dale Hamlin at 3:45. January 5, 2008  --   The Mudhens hit the court Saturday Afternoon looking like a new team. After a long break and 1 practice the team put an end to their losing streak and started a brand new one by dominating the Tecumseh Twisters in all four quarters of play by a score of 18-7. Ben Davis, Jeremiah Gifford, and Kyle Montgomery lead all scorers with 4 each while Jackson Phelps, Brandon Montgomery, and Geoffrey Smith put in two apiece.

The Twisters had a hard time crossing half court with the ball behind the swarming defensive play of Gifford, who lead the Mudhens in the steals column with 8. He was followed by Davis with 4, Kyle Montgomery with 2, Brandon Montgomery, Carson Montgomery, and Phelps with 1 each.

Thank you to all of you!
December 21, 2007  --   I know that I speak on behalf of all of the coaches when I say that we have the best parents and kids that a person could put together on a team. We want to thank all of you for the nice Christmas Gifts that we received last night at practice. I have told numerous people that it makes it all worth it when you can come to practice and games not only to coach the kids, but to also be around people that are just excited as I am to watch their kids improve with every practice. I walked into my house last night to show Jana what I had and in between all of the gloating that I was doing, I started thinking that most coaching jobs are tough to do, because people may disagree with your motives or techniques, but when I tell people that I do not have that stuff in our program they cannot believe it. As you know, I get into the sports hardcore, because I love the competitive atmosphere; for you all to support me by wanting to play games and tournaments and all the extra practices we throw at you makes it all worth it and I thank you for that. Again, we appreciate the thoughts and gifts and look forward to playing together for many more years. I know that stress ball will be put to use this coming season!

The Mudhens will take to the court again on Saturday at 3pm against Hamlin at the Tecumseh Old Gym. Come out and Support the Boys.

Tecumseh Mudhens Tip Off December 1st!
November 21, 2007 - 12:10 PM --   The Tecumeh Mudhens will take to a different sport in ten days when they will start their quest of becoming the top team in 1st Grade on the basketball court in the Pott County Area. After two successful seasons of baseball the team is feeling confident that they will put 10 talented athletes in the gym and be a fundamentally sound and competitive basketball team. Coached by Blaine Morris and Rick Davis (Assistant Coaches in Baseball) the Mudhens will recieve a big dose of basketball fundamentals that will be the starting foundation of their basketball careers. The Mudhens are welcoming two new faces into the family with #23 Geoffrey "GT" Smith, and his parent Brian and Wendi Smith, who will play baseball for the Hens next season and #3 Kyle Montgomery, and his parents James and Lindsey Montgomery. The Mudhens look forward to a successful campaign. Please come out and support them.

I will post the schedule up as soon as I get them.
