    2nd Place
    2009 PFX Tour 12U Open
    McKinney, Texas
    May 30-31, 2009

Wow, the girls played amazingly. Saturday started out with the girls enjoying the pro game. Ok now to real business Texas Glory came ready to play. On Saturday they played 2 games which resulted in a 12-1 win over the San Antonio Crush and a 12-1 win over the Fanin Flames.

Have a good night sleep girls because the next morning would be your test. The first game of the day matched us against The Knockouts who had looked pretty good on day one. It was a battle but the Glory girls came out on top 1-0. The next game of the day woud match us against the Oklahoma shock, they were coming off a win against the McKinney Fireballs and were fired up but the Glory girls would not waiver in their quest for the ship and went on to win 2-1.

Time to change parks and get closer to the SHIP, but must first get thru the Texas Blaze who had just sent X-Factor home with a win by 1. The Glory girls were still riding high and shut Blaze down 12-1.

On to the SHIP versus yes "The Diamonds". What a great game, great news our girls put the bat on the ball for 5 innings, bad news they hit every ball to a defender. Junior and Baily awesome job hitting from the Diamonds to go up 2-0. Here we go to the 6th inning and our last at bat, could we get something going. We were at the 8, 9, 1 batters and were ready for the test. 8 and 9 why can't we get a break and not hit the ball to them, oh well back to the top. Hard line drive to ss who bobbled for a second but long enough to get the speed on the bases. #2 batter up base hit. What is going on 2 on but 2 outs "could we rally on 2". #3 batter hard shot past the pitcher up the middle but the Diamonds second baseman would have none of it, she layed out for the stop, crawled to the ball and tossed it from her belly for the force at 2 and the final out.

Glory girls you guys are so fun to watch. Diamonds great job on your first place finish and we hope to see you all again.

Finally to the "Glory Girls 97". Keep working hard and continue to build on the foundation you have to get you to your next goal.

    May 9, 2009

Wow, where do we start. After 20 hours of being up and 17 hour of those at the ballpark the Glory girls of 97 did great. From 7am on Saturday May 9th to 12:03am Mothers Day morning May 10th they showed resilance and determination.

The day consisted of 9, yes 9 games in which they gave their all. After success in pool play they hit bracket at 11am. With a hard fight against Texas Pride Winters, the Glory girls came up short with a 0-1 loss. This would drop them into the losers bracket very early in the day. This did not discourage them however, it drew on their inner strenght to be able to get thru 6 more games back to back for a chance to win the "Ship".

Loser bracket play would begin at 2pm with a 5-1 win over Team Heat USA, next would be a 5-0 win against Texas Showtime, then 5-1 over West Texas Blaze. Now it was time for game 7 of the day against the very talented Texas Legends who had already sent Fastpitch America, 96 Diamonds and 95 Texas Rip home. It was a great game with the Legends trying to come back from a 4-0 deficit but to our avail we would take the game 4-2.

Game 8 a repeat against Texas Pride Winters who dropped us into the losers bracket early. This time would prove to be a different story. As the Glory girls approached the plate they got a new sense of energy. With a lead off tripple to the fense on the 1st pitch the tone was set. The Glory girls never looked back. They used what I call "Glory"ous defense and their bats to take the game 6-3. Finally at last the "Ship", game 9 after being at the fields for 15 hours would match us against the 95 Texas Elite Buchanan who had remained undefeated thru bracket play.

This group of 97s showed what heart, determination, fundamentals, team and a love of the game really meant. It was a 1-1 game thru regulation. In the end we came up short in ITB 1-2 in our second loss of the day.

Congratulations to 95 Texas Elite Buchanan on your 1st place victory and a special thanks to your coaches who came over to our dugout to shake the hands of each of our girls to tell them what a great group of young girls they were. You are truly a class act.

Finally, to the Glory girls of 97. You truly are the definition of "Team"
