Congratulations to the Lady Gryphons tennis team as they defeated Polk County in girls tennis Thursday (10-8-09) by a score of 6-3. The Lady Gryphons have steadily improved throughout the season and Polk County was the first team to be defeated by our Lady Gryphons. The victory over Polk County was the first for our Varsity Ladies tennis team in the history of our school. Singles winners were: Kasey Owens, Claire and Grace McCurry, and Regina Maimone. In doubles, Claire and Grace McCurry, and Regina Maimone and Madison Folk won their matches. The Lady Gryphons will play Avery on Tuesday (10-13-09) and will finish up their season with the conference tournament on Thursday (10-15-09) at Gardner Webb University beginning at 5:00.
I am thankful for our continued support from family and friends. A special thank you to Lori McCurry, Jane Kirkpatrick, and Mark Folk for driving to our away matches as well as providing food and drinks for our girls.
