Caberfae Ski Trip

Our annual ski trip with Troop 125 to Caberfae Peaks near Cadillac is February 20 and 21.
We will pull out of the Memorial Building parking lot at 8:00AM on Saturday and will return at about 1:00PM on Sunday. The cost for the lift ticket and equipment rental is as follows:
Lift Ticket only: $ 30
Lift Ticket + Ski Rental: $ 45
Lift Ticket + Snowboard Rental: $ 55
Helmet: $ 3
Please be advised that helmets are now required by the BSA for downhill skiing and snowboarding.

Eagle Court of Honor
January 24, 2010 --
An Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for Brett Wreggelsworth took place on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Brett has been an active member of Troop 77 since crossing over from Cub Scouts on 3/8/05. During that time he served in numerous leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Troop Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader.
For his service project, Brett organized the building and placement of a number of team benches at the soccer fields in St. Johns. Special scout awards include the World Conservation Award and the Polar Bear Award. Brett has earned 34 Merit badges to date. Besides being active in scouts, Brett is on the soccer and track teams at St. Johns High School and participates in band.

Eagle Court of Honor
January 10, 2010 --
An Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for Kyle Jonas took place on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Kyle has been an active member of Troop 77 since crossing over from cub scouts on 2/24/05. During that time he served in numerous leadership positions including Patrol Leader, ASPL, SPL and OA Rep. He also served on the Mackinac Island Honor Guard in 2006, 2007 and 2009 and attended the Michigan International Camporee in 2008.
Kyle is active in the OA and participated in Arrow Corp5 at the Mark Twain National Forest in Missouri in 2008. For his service project, Kyle organized the fabrication and placement of a number of trout habitats. Special awards include the World Conservation Award, Recruiter Award, Ad Altare Dei Religious Award, Pope Pius Religious Award and the Polar Bear Award. Kyle has earned 46 Merit badges to date. Kyle has been a fixture at Troop 77 for many years as he attended almost all the meetings and campouts.

New Tires & Coleman Stoves
January 4, 2010 --
You may not know this but we recently we got new tires for the scout trailer and 3 new camp stoves. Jim Hamilton was able to get the tires and installation donated to the troop from Jerry Lupien at Affordable Tire and Service Center in Lansing. He also spoke with some folks at the DeWitt Lions Club and Meijer’s and we got the new stoves at no cost to the troop. Many thanks to Jim, Affordable Tire, the DeWitt Lions Club and Meijer’s for supporting scouting and Troop 77.

Eagle Scout Brad Tooker
December 17, 2009 --
On December 17, 2009, Brad Tooker completed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout. Shown in the picture above is his board consisting of Rich Vsetula (District Advancement Chair), Jim Earl (Committee Member), Ken Wreggelsworth (Committee Member), Brad, Gary Irrer (Committee Member) and Chuck Loader (Committee Member). A Court of Honor is being planned and will take place early in 2010.

On December 14, 2009, Ian Fitzner completed his Board of Review for Eagle Scout. Shown in the picture above is his board consisting of Chris Draves (Committee Member), Greg Jonas (Committee Chairman), Anna Neher (Committee Member), Ian, and Rich Vsetula (District Advancement Chair). A Court of Honor for Ian is being planned for early in 2010.

SCRIP Gift Certificates Ongoing Fundraiser

Troop 77 Scrip
Troop 77 will be selling "Scrip" each month. "Scrip" is a program in which we as parents and families of the scouts can order gift certificates and gift cards to our favorite restaraunts and stores and the profit from this program can be split between the troop and the scout's individual account.
Each company that participates in the Scrip program offers a rebate back to the scout troop varying amonts from 2% to 25% of the gift card value. Orders can be placed during any of the scout meetings by filling out and turning in an order form along with a check. Scrip gift cards will be delivered and available for pick-up at the 1st scout meeting of each month.
There is a huge list of companies that participate in this program and gift cards can be purchased for your normal expenses such as Department Stores, Gas Stations, Dining, Theaters, Home Improvement stores, and Sporting Goods stores.
An order form will be placed on the website. A complete list of all participating retailers can be found at the website www.glscrip.com.
Scrip can be used for your normal monthly purchases, will cost you no more, and can earn a profit for the Troop and for your own scout's account. Please take advantage of these great fundraiser to help support your own scout and troop activities.
