To follow are informative facts about the South Shore Umpires Association (SSUA).
SSUA began in September 2003 by servicing Oceanside Little League’s Fall Baseball Program. We started with seven certified umpires and approximately fifteen trainees working some of the lower division games. We have now grown to one hundred and forty certified umpires – many of whom work High School ball. We pride ourselves in administering all our games with a professional appearance and attitude.
During the Spring of 2004, SSUA grew to include the following Little League Programs: Oceanside National, Oceanside American, Lynbrook, East Rockaway. We also provided last minute replacement umpires for Merrick, Freeport and Baldwin. We are also proud to be the major umpiring source for Nassau-Suffolk Catholic Youth Organization baseball.
Over the summer we fulfilled the umpiring needs for the Oceanside National Junior, Senior, Major and Minor Tournaments, and once again to Lynbrook, Merrick, North Bellmore and Freeport Little Leagues, Major and Minor divisions. We took pride in furnishing services to the East Rockaway Little League who held the State Finals in their Major and Minor Divisions.
Our Fall 2004 season began with furnishing umpires to Oceanside, Freeport, Lynbrook and Merrick Little Leagues in Major and Minor divisions as well as Oceanside Junior fall program.
As we continue to grow SSUA feels confident we are capable of supplying the umpires your league expects and deserves. Our association continues to build a reputation based on honesty, reliability, responsibility and trust. Leagues pay a good price for quality umpires. As of 2008 SSUA has included NTB travel Baseball, District # 29, and 31 baseball and softball,Franklin Square, East Rockaway, Bellmore, and Massapequa little leagues.
As we begin scheduling for Spring 2009, we hope you will consider SSUA when you determine your umpiring needs. Feel free to contact us any time, even if a replacement is needed on short notice.
