Lakers Moving to Hermantown for 2009
April 23, 2009 --
SUPERIOR -- The Superior Lakers will be playing their home games in Hermantown, Minn., for the 2009 season, citing field availability and cost issues at Morrie Arnovich Memorial Field in Superior. Hermantown's Don Fichtner Memorial Field is located on the corner of Maple Grove Road and Ugstad Road. Directions from Wisconsin: take US 53 to the Miller Hill shopping district and turn left on Maple Grove Road. Take Maple Grove Road west for about 3.5 miles. Parking is off Ugstad Road beyond left field. Directions from Proctor (US 2): turn right on 2nd Ave/Lavaque Rd. Stay on Lavaque Road for about four miles to Maple Grove Road. New Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Site

ALGOMA, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Amateur Baseball Association has a new name and a new home, it was announced earlier this week. The new name of the affiliation of Wisconsin amateur baseball leagues is now Wisconsin Amateur Baseball. The former Web site at www.wiab.org is no longer in service. The new online home of WAB is www.leaguelineup.com/wi-am-baseball. Jack Sprecher, aka Jack O' Diamonds, returns in his role as Web site administrator for the WAB and will continue the "Sweet 16" power rankings for the seventh consecutive year.

Upper 13 League Goes Online
March 1, 2009 --
ASHLAND -- The Upper 13 Baseball League team managers met today for the league's annual meeting. One of the items passed by the league was the creation of a position titled director of information. The duties of the position include the creation and upkeep of the league Web site. All league game box scores will now be sent to the director of information rather than to the league secretary. The Proctor Padres' manager Anthony Bush was elected to serve as the first director of information.
In other news, the league voted to maintain the 12-game schedule.
