Reinke to become West Chicago Football Coach

West Chicago longed for stability in its football program, and Paul Reinke longed to be a head coach.
Sounds like a perfect match.
Reinke, a 32-year-old former Wheaton North assistant, has been named West Chicago's fourth varsity football coach in as many years. He replaces Hal Chiodo, who left after one season to take the Highland Park football job.
"I've always wanted to be a head football coach," Reinke said. "When the situation presented itself, I really liked the direction they wanted to go."
A 1995 Rich South and 1999 Valparaiso graduate, Reinke spent three years at Wheaton North at the sophomore and varsity levels. He coached for the Arena Football League's Georgia and Grand Rapids franchises, serving alongside fellow former Wheaton North assistant Steve Thonn. Reinke spent the last three years on Cary-Grove's varsity staff.
He's coached the defensive line, linebackers and has served as a defensive coordinator. He's also been a special teams, fullbacks and strength and conditioning coach.
Reinke believes the variety of roles will serve him well with the Wildcats.
"I wanted to get as much experience as I could because I knew this was what I wanted to do," Reinke said. "Once we implement our plans and get everyone on the same page, we'll be on the right track."
West Chicago athletic director Doug Mullaney said the school interviewed five final candidates before choosing Reinke, who will teach in the physical education department. More than anything, Mullaney said the school was looking for a dedicated candidate who's committed to the program and the community.
"I'm excited for the kids, the parents, the community," Mullaney said. "(Reinke) came in like a whirlwind and wants to make things happen. It's time for West Chicago to jump on board."
