ACYS Basketball Registration is Now Open

Registration for ACYS Basketball for the 2017-18 season is now open for boys and girls ages 5 thru 12.  Athletes can register online on the ACYS website or In Person.  Teams will fill up fast and space is limited so please register early to make sure your athlete gets to participate.

Our Recreation (Rec) teams will interleague with local towns like White Settlement and a few others like we have always done.  Our Rec teams are drafted teams and will be formed by age groups (6u, 8u, 10u, 12u) this year.

We are also offering basketball for 7th and 8th grade boys and girls.  These teams are select teams and will be formed by grade.  Our 7th and 8th grade teams must have an experienced Head Coach to compete in our select league.  The Head Coach will decide what players are selected to those teams and at what level the team plays.  The practice and game schedules for our 7th and 8th grade teams will NOT conflict with the school schedule.

ACYS Basketball proudly supports the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).  ACYS Basketball Coaches are required to register with AAU (cost $16) and take the training from the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), using their Double-Goal Coach online courses.  A Double-Goal Coach has two goals:  the first is to win, but the second, more important goal, is to teach life lessons through sports.  All ACYS Basketball Coaches are required to be Level 1 certified from PCA to coach a team in ACYS.  This PCA training combined with the guidance provided by the Azle High School Basketball program will give our coaches the tools they need to help our youth succeed on the court and in life.

Registration:  9/22/17 – 11/3/17 >> $125 includes a complete uniform with reversible jersey.

Late Registration:  11/4/17 – 11/20/17 >> $155 (only If space is available)

Registration Dates, Times and Location:  Anytime on the ACYS website.

Player Evaluations:  TBD (if needed).

Practices Begin:  11/13/17

Regular Season Begins:  12/9/17

Regular Season Ends:  2/17/18

Post Season Tournament:  2/24/18

ATTENTION COACHES

For anyone interested in coaching an ACYS Basketball team, we first want to thank you for stepping up to lead our youth and help prepare them for success.  To get started, please fill out the ACYS Basketball Coach Application on the ACYS website.  ACYS Basketball coaches must meet the following requirements:

1.  All ACYS Basketball Coaches must be Level 1 Certified from the Positive Coaching Alliance.  To access the online training, please visit the AAU website at the following link:  http://www.aausports.org/Resource-Articles/ArtMID/1403/ArticleID/665.  This is an online training program that is free for all AAU Non-Athletes.  Coaches will need to register with AAU as a Non-Athlete first.  Cost for AAU Non-Athletes is $16.  The ACYS Basketball Commissioner will validate your certification on the AAU website prior to being selected as an ACYS Basketball coach.

2.  All ACYS Basketball Coaches are required to complete and pass a background check.  A Background Check Application Form is in the Handouts Section of the ACYS Website.  Please fill out this form and email it to c_ccolley@msn.com

ACYS Overview

Azle Competitive Youth Sports (ACYS) is a 501c3 non-profit corporation delivering quality, affordable competitive youth sports to the youth of Azle and surrounding areas.

ACYS Mission – Our mission is to provide the youth of Azle and surrounding areas with quality, affordable opportunities to participate in competitive youth sports. Guided by Christian values, our goal is to teach “life lessons” and develop positive character traits in our youth through competitive youth sports.

ACYS Organizational Vision – ACYS is currently building strategic partnerships and aligning with Azle ISD athletic programs. Many surrounding communities have seen the benefits of early competitive youth athletic programs. Those communities with the means and desire to see their young athletes reach their full potential in high school programs and beyond are now dominating in competition. Azle currently offers youth opportunities to participate in various sports programs designed to introduce children to particular sports. Beyond basic introduction into team sports and good intentions to ensure a fun experience, local programs designed to challenge and develop our talented athletes do not exist. ACYS is building its organization with the quality, transparency, and intensity needed to give our young athletes a competitive advantage in an already competitive region. It is our intent to develop our talented youth by giving them the tools, instruction, and opportunity to get the most out of their abilities and have a fun experience.
