Coaching Philosophy
Coaching Philosophy
This article, from QCBaseball.com, goes into detail on how coaches should approach players, parents and coaching. This is an excellant article and should be read by every coach before the season starts.

The Warm-Up
Team Warm-Up Routine
The most important part of every baseball practice and game is the warm-up and stretching routine. All coaches have their own variety of how to perform these exercises but all agree that they should be done before every game and practice.

Two of the most important parts of the warm-up are the throwing and running exercises.

In the throwing routine, make sure your players have thrown sufficiently to loosen up their arms. Especially in cold weather. Start with the players at a close safe distance then gradually work them to what's refered to a long toss distance. Usually the distance, for the long toss, is a base path and a half. The long toss is also an excellent exercise for conditioning pitchers arms before the season begins.

Next item that should always be done is either a light jog around the field or light spints which would be the distance of a base path. This one exercise gets the blood pumping and wakes up those early morning risers.

The attached article goes a little more in depth for a warm-up routine.
