SSC Youth Basketball
Biddy Rules (5th & 6th Grade)
Play will follow the rules of Mississippi High School Basketball with the following exceptions:
TECHNICAL FOULS WILL BE ASSESSED BEFORE GAME IF TEAMS ARE BOUNCING BALLS BEHIND BENCH DURING LEAGUE PLAY!!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. If this happens twice the other team will be awarded 2pts before the game starts.
Teams will use a 28.5 ball
DEFENSE
Teams will play half court defense for 1st & 2nd Quarters. Half court pressing is allowed.
No fast breaks allowed in the 1st or 2nd Quarter.
If a team goes up by 15pts or more then that team will go into a half court defense with no pressing allowed or fast breaks.
Play will follow the rules of Mississippi High School Basketball in the 3rd and 4th Quarters. (except 15pt Rule)
OFFENSE
fast breaks allowed in the 1st & 2nd quarters.
5 seconds in the lane is a violation not 3.
Free Throws. Using coaching discretion, any player who can’t hit the rim from behind the Free Throw line will be allowed to move up closer to the goal.

SUBSTITUTION RULES
NO SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED IN THE 1ST QUARTER. (Injury or Fouling out exception)
All kids must play 1 full quarter from beginning of quarter to end of quarter and must play any combination of 8 minutes (with substitutions) after the full quarter requirement has been reached.
For example: Players who start the 1st quarter will have 3 quarters left to play 8 minutes. Players who start the 2nd quarter will have 2 quarters to play 8 minutes.
Penalty for illegal substitutions is technical foul. If this happens twice then your team will go to the rule of every player playing 2 full quarters start to finish for the remainder of the season.
THE OBVIOUS INTENT OF THIS RULE IS TO INSURE THAT ALL INDIVIDUAL PLAY! PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO FOLLOW THIS RULE EVERY WEEK!
GAME TIME
8 minute quarters running time except last 2 minute of 2nd & 4th quarter when clock will stop on all whistles

Play will follow the rules of Mississippi High School Basketball with the following exceptions:
TECHNICAL FOULS WILL BE ASSESSED BEFORE GAME IF TEAMS ARE BOUNCING BALLS BEHIND BENCH DURING LEAGUE PLAY!!! THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. If this happens twice the other team will be awarded 2pts before the game starts.
Teams will use a 28.5 ball. 9 foot goal height
DEFENSE
All defenses must stay behind 3 point line unless ball is loose for 1st and 2nd quarters (feet must be behind line, can reach beyond).
Can play defense out to half court for 3rd and 4th quarters.
If a team goes up by 15pts or more then defense must stay behind the 3pt line.
No fast breaks on rebound (controlled rebound) 1st and 2nd Quarter. The other team moves down the court and can’t try and steal once defense has possession.
Fast breaks are allowed on steal above the KEY in the 3rd and 4th Quarter
OFFENSE
Any shot made beyond the 3 point line will only count for 2.

Free Throws. Using coaching discretion, any player who can’t hit the rim from behind the Free Throw line will be allowed to move up closer to the goal.
No stalling allowed. Teams must run their offenses. If referee believes players are stalling, he can yell 10 seconds and begin counting and team must penetrate by pass, dribble, shot or turnover occurs.

2 timeouts per half.
