Man-Up Bowl II - Information

Game Day: December 6th (All Star Games)
Place: Delhi High School
JV Game Time 10AM (arrive @ 8am with photo ID)
Varsity Game Time: 12PM (arrive @ 10am with photo ID)
Equipment guy (Lou Walters)

We will have 12 minute (or less) quarters to ensure we are off the field in time for our All Star games to proceed as planned!

ALL PLAYERS must sign up before November 1st. All money ($50 per player) is due on or before November 3rd. We will be having a meeting at Jura’s Pizza in Turlock on the 3rd. It is not mandatory for players to show up to the meeting however it is mandatory that you pay your $50 on or before that date. We will NOT accept any players (returning or not) after the 1st!

Details of the JV/Varsity age split will be determined after November 3rd.

This is a charity event and ALL players are encouraged to pay the full amount of $50. The money is being collected ahead of time to ensure everyone pays (unlike last year) and to make it easier on Lou. If you have your own equipment and do not wish to rent from Lou, email me and we can discuss the details of your payment. If you do not contact me before November 1st and are playing with your own equipment, you will be required to pay the full $50. Not only is this a safety issue and liability, but will affect the outcome of our payment to Lou Walters on game day.

Thank You All,
Cindy Mello

Cen-Cal News & Tidbits

CEN-CAL will hold its annual Round Robin(s) tomorrow Sat. Aug 23rd! This season we have split it into for different locations in order to alleviate crowding concerns and make it more convenient for our host teams. In the AFC Oakdale hosts w/ the Thunder, Steelers and Vikings * Gustine hosts w/ the Cougars, Jaguars & Packers. In The NFC Atwater hosts w/ the Seahawks, Sabercats & Bears * Livingston hosts w/ the Broncos, 49ers & Wildcats. This looks to be an exciting day of football. This is a reminder that ice chests and outside food are NOT allowed. Please make sure your parents, coaches and fans understand and follow this rule. Each location will also be charging at the gate. Prices are $4 per adult and $2 per child 16 & under along with Senior Citizens. 6 & under are free.
Any player or Cheerleader in a uniform is free as well. All schedules for these events are on each host's respective websites. We'll see you there!!!

The SEASON HAS FINALLY ARRIVED!!!!!!!!! Make sure that you dress in light clothes and that your prepare your body by drinking plenty of water prior to practicing. WATER is what you should be drinking! Don't load your body up with those sport drinks that are full of sugar! The Sport Drinks I would recommend drinking would be the ones that have no / less sugar (however there's still sodium). Gatorade has G2. Powerade has Powerade ZERO. Ultimately you can never go wrong with WATER.

Reps remember the next meeting is on August 17th @ Endsley & Associates. We will certify books and rosters! Have each of your team's rosters completed!

Good luck to all over our kids! Have a fun and injury free season!!!!!!!

The Season is almost here! and there are various Youth Football Camp and Clinics out there. Make sure that no matter which ones you attend, that your child has a large supply of water. Start drinking water the evening prior to the event. Upcoming clinics include: The Skillz & Drillz Youth Football Clinic on Sat. July 19th @ Buhach Colony HS from 4pm - 7pm! This clinic is $25 per athlete 7 - 14 yrs old and is open to everyone and anyone!

Our hearts go out to one of our own: Livingston Viking Varsity Head Coach Mike Coronado & his wife Suzanne, were involved in a motorcycle accident, in which Susie sustained fatal injuries. She was just 31. Susie was Livingston's Secretary on their Executive Board and left behind 4 children. Mike is back at home recovering from his injuries. Susie was laid to rest on Monday July 14 @ Winton District Cemetery. Please keep the Coronado Family in your prayers. May GOD bless Susie and may she rest in peace.

The 2008 schedule has been completed. We are still waiting on times from some of the franchises. Looks to be some very exciting non-league games in the first two weeks of the season. Including: Broncos @ Cougars, Falcons @ Packers, Thunder @ Bears, Stampede @ Livingston and Week 2 rematch of 2007 JV & Varsity Super Bowl teams when the Vikings travel to face the Broncos.

In a football talking mood? Head to our forum and talk up your team.

Congratulations to the newly elected 2008 Executive Board members.

Commissioner - Chris Camp
Deputy Commissioner - Matt Dietz
Secretary / Treasurer - Keith Ducey

Week 11 - Rivalry Report!

Week 11 is the end of the long regular season of Cen-Cal football. We end the regular season with a face of old & new Rival games. As news channels and media surrounds this Central Valley event, we try to remember to keep the kids focused! Some rival games are of old and other are of new, either way a win equals a year of bragging rights! Garrett-BC Reporting.

Vikings @ 49ers
One of the oldest rival games in Cen-Cal "BUD" FARIA BOWL". All Vikings teams ride into this game with a 9-1 mark & 49ers squad close to the 7-3 mark. Look for a great battle of defenses from boths sides. Alll games should be explosive! Camp & Lewis should produce game highlights in this game. The Rookies game should be a great defensive battle of little guys hitting.

Bears @ Cougars
Another older Rival game (The Merced Bowl) that the Cougars have owned, but looks like the tide maybe turning at the lower levels. The best match up looks to be the JV squads Bears(5-5) vs Cougars(6-4).

Seahawks @ Jaguars
A newly contested rival series that may turn into fireworks come the varsity game Seahawks(8-2) 1st place in the NFC vs Jaguars(9-1) 3rd in the AFC with some stout defense can move to #2. Ceres a new team look for apossible Superbowl matchup. All other levels look to be a great battles as record seem to be close to equal.

L.Vikings @ Packers
This is a new Cen-Cal rival, but an old rival per say. Both teams come from another league to face off in a New league. Once again Varsity looks to be the battle Vikings(6-4) vs Packers(6-4) Both big strong teams look to pound the run game. Lower levels look to have big runs as well as the records look to be similar.

Thunder @ Falcons
This may be a ture rival from the start even though only in its 3rd year. The Black & Blue Bowl III looks to get started from the gate with the Rookies through Varsity. When these two teams play record are out the way and its always a close game. The peewee game should be a burner with the #1 offense & Defense from coach Armstrong (BC) Can they hold the undefeated mark? The JV game has always been won by BC but its been last second heros that got it done, who has it this year? Thunder holds the record as of now 6-2

Steelers @ Broncos
Cross freeway rivals look to host the "Tilford / Huff Construction Bowl"
Seems no one can stop the Broncos JV, can Salida slow them down? The Broncos Varsity seems to be on a roll while Salida Varsity looks be going the other way.

Sabercats @ Stampede
Oakdales Peewee & JV look to keep the winning alive as the Varsity game will hold the big boys battling for them bragging rights. Oakdale looks to use its size upon the scrappy Sabercats.

Redskins @ Wildcats
These squads fight all year for this newly rival game. This looks to be bragging rights for the deeper parts of Merced county. The Varsity game should be a great battle from both teams. Some one has to win the Bowl game!

Week 10: The CEN-CAL REPORT!!!!!

October 26, 2007
We roll into Week 10, which is the last week in division play. A couple playoff seeds
could shift this weekend depending on the outcomes. In the AFC there are some good
games lined up. Let's take a look at the top games in the AFC by each level.

VARSITY:

The game of the week will involve the Merced Cougars (8-1) as they travel to face the Hilmar Packers (6-3).
The Cougars currently hold one of the top 3 seeds, however a Packer win would vault the Pack to
#3 at worst. A Win for the Cougars would keep them in contention for the top 2 seeds.

Another solid contest should be when the Manteca Jaguars (8-1) travel to Buhach (5-4) and face the Thunder.
The #1 offense (points scored) vs. the #1 defense (points allowed) The Thunder are basically playing spoiler,
as a win would drop The Jaguars to #3 or #4 seed. The Jaguars can keep pace with the Vikings and Cougars with
a win.

JV:

The Turlock Vikings (8-1) travel to Salida to face the Steelers (8-1). The Steelers are coming off their first loss of the season
a 26-7 loss to the Stampede and hope to bounce back. A Steeler win would lock them the #1 seed. A Vikings win would
guarantee them the #1 seed and drop the Steelers in a 3-way tie for the 2nd seed.

PEEWEE:

The Turlock Vikings (8-1) travel to Salida (8-1) to face the Steelers with the #2 seed on the line. The loser of this one drops to #3 while
the winner earns the #2 seed.

Now time to look into the top games in the NFC:

VARSITY:

Game of the Week is the Turlock 49ers (7-2) travelling to Modesto (6-3) to face the Broncos.
There's a storied history between the two coaches and the series has definitely been one to remember.
If the Broncos can pull a win, they jump to the #2 spot. The 49ers can lock up the top seed with a win.

JV:

Game of the Week is the Turlock 49ers (7-2) facing off with the undefeated Modesto Broncos for the top
seed. Winner takes all and loser takes #2. Both teams are currently undefeated in division so this game
is an important one!

PEEWEE:

The Livingston Vikings (6-3) travel to face the top seeded Los Banos Wildcats (7-2) A Livingston win creates a 3-way tie for
3rd seed. The Wildcats are becoming an NFC favorite to advance to the Super Bowl, with the 49ers and Falcons on their trail.

Week 9 * The Cen-Cal Report!

October 19, 2007
We head into the 9th week of the season and there are some pivotal match-ups that will make or break some teams in terms of playoff seeding. There are 2 division games left for everybody and seeding is on the line in both divisions. Let's take a look at this week's competitive games:

Steelers @ Stampede * The Peewee match-up pits the current #4 Stampede against the #2 Steelers (tied w/ Vikings). The Stampede are coming off a loss to the Vikings and can shake things up with a win. With a win, the Steelers can keep the Stampede at #4 and set up a big game vs. the Vikings next week for the outright #2 seed. JV wise, The Stampede 5-3, are coming off a hard fought 16-14 loss to the Vikings and currently sit in 4th place. They face a tough task in derailing the undefeated Steelers. The Stampede can shake things up if they beat the Steelers and if the Steelers were to lose next week to the Vikings. That would knot 3 teams up in a tie for 2nd (providing the Thunder and Stampede win out) (Thunder, Steelers, Stampede) and the tiebreaker system would come into play. It should be a great series of games at the Corral.

Seahawks @ Livingston: The big battle will occur at Varsity with hosting a first round playoff game on the line. This should be a very physical game.

Wildcats @ Falcons - The Peewee game will be a tough one with seeding on the line. The Wildcats currenly sit atop the NFC , while the Falcons are just a game back. The Wildcats defeated the 49ers in a huge battle last week and look to be battle tested. Packers @ Jaguars - Jaguars

Cougars @ Vikings - The JV game can be a battle depending on how the Cougars respond to it's loss last week, while the Vikings survived yet another AFC battle. The Cougars have some speed and the Vikes will counter with their brand of smash mouth football.

The Varsity Vikings come in undefeated against the 7-1 Cougars. This game has the makings of a classic. Both teams have great QB's. Both teams have plenty of speed. This game may come down to which team makes the least mistakes.

Packers @ Jaguars - The JV game will be huge with #6 and #7 seeds on the line. Both teams will be hungry. The Varsity game is huge in the AFC seeding as well, with the 7-1 Jaguars facing the 6-2 Packers. THis should be a barnburner.

Playoff seeding is starting to take place and become more important with each and every game. Games are starting to hold that Playoff atmosphere, full of energy! Listed below are some game that hold value in seeding:

BC(4-3)(#2 Defense) @ Cougars(6-1) This is the 2006 JV Superbowl Rematch, BC looks to bump up a spot on the AFC with a win. Cougars look to stay on top of the mid pack. Look for the BC defense to hit hard & the Cougars offense to run fast!

AFC JV:
Vikings(6-1)(#2 Defense) @ Oakdale(5-2) With a win Oakdale can claim #1, Vikings can a sure top seed with a win. Size vs Size, could be a head on collision!

BC(5-2)(#1 Defense) @ Cougars(5-2) Time to battle out for the #3 seed? Who has the horses? Speed and size alike, who can hold the ground longest, Either high scores from both or low scores from both. Who make sthe least mistakes?

Redskins(0-7) @ Packers(0-7) Someone gets their first win!

NFC JV:

Week 6 reports / games!

September 26, 2007
There are some very important and exciting match-ups on all three levels this weekend. Now that division play is in full swing, the stakes have been raised and much more is on the line.

Peewee -
The undefeated Buhach Thunder travel to the Corral (Oakdale) to face a vastly improved (4-1) Stampede squad in what looks to be the AFC Peewee Game of the Week. The Thunder are loaded with a trio of RB's and a talented QB, as well as the league's #1 defense (points allowed) having posted 4 shutouts in 5 games. Oakdale will try to use home field advantage and their running game to try to knock off the Thunder. The Thunder can't afford to look past the Stampede as next week's epic saga against the Turlock Vikings looms with inside track to the AFC"s top seed on the line.

Packers @ Steelers - The Steelers bounced back from its week 4 loss to Buhach and tamed the Redskins. While the Packers were shut down by the Thunder last week. The Steelers will use its balance, running and throwing the ball while the Packers will try to get its ground attack in gear.

Cougars @ Jaguars - Both teams are coming off losses and look to be hungry. If the Cougars can establish their ground game early, it could be a long day for the Jaguars. The Jaguars will try to counter with their power ground attack.

Turlock Vikings @ Redskins - This game won't be much of a tune up for the undfeated Vikings who look ahead to its showdown with the Thunder next week. The Redskins are very light on numbers and will have their hands full with the Vikings' speedy and shifty backs.

Falcons vs. 49ers - The Falcons have been on a roll, as have the 49ers. The Falcons only loss has been to the Turlock Vikings while the 49ers stumbled against the Thunder. The Falcons have a knack for ptting points on the board and the 49ers have a solid defense, something's gotta give.

Wildcats vs. Broncos - The Wildcats have run off two straight wins after stumbling vs. the Thunder and the Broncos have shown the ability to play quality ball. This may prove to be a tough one for both teams.

Bears vs. Livingston - Livingston has struggled when their QB hasn't been in the line-up. The Bears look to be up to the challenge.

Seahawks vs. Sabercats - The Sabercats look to pound the ball on the ground while the Seahawks will try to do the same.

JV
Thunder vs. Stampede - The Thunder (4-1) bounced back from a triple OT loss to the Steelers with a 40-0 win over the Packers in a game that was over at halftime. The Stampede (4-1) dominated the Cougars in a 33-8 win, effectively ending the Cougar's JV 31-game win streak. The Stampede muscled the Cougars but may have a task defending against the Thunder's Fly offense and trio of speedy backs. The Thunder have the league's highest scoring offense and best defense (points allowed) AFC JV Game of The Week!

Packers @ Steelers - The Steelers routed the Redskins 40-6 and The Packers lost 40-0 to the Thunder. The Steeler offense may be too much for the Packers. The Packers look to mix it up on the ground and in the air.

Cougars @ Jaguars - The Cougars are coming off a 33-8 loss to the Stampede while the Jaguars lost 37-7 to the Turlock Vikings. Can the Jaguars contain the Cougars offense? The Jaguars seemed to have a nice passing game as well as a solid ground attack.

Turlock Vikings @ Redskins - This will be a "small" tune-up for the Vikings. It should give many players an opportunity to see the field leading into next week's showdown with the Thunder.

Falcons vs. 49ers - The Falcons have rolled as have the 49ers. Both teams have the offenses to put up points and both teams can play solid defense. This game is the NFC JV Game of The Week!

Wildcats vs. Broncos - The Broncos are on a tear and this one may get ugly in a hurry, unless the Wildcats can slow the tempo of the game down.

Bears vs. Livingston - The Bears are a real scrappy bunch but the Vikings are slowly improving. They showed a decent passing game in previous games and an outside running game.

Seahawks vs. Sabercats - The Sabercats can put points up but have stumbled in the past couple weeks. The Seahawks are coming off a tough 54-6 loss to the Broncos.

Varsity

Thunder vs. Stampede - The Thunder are coming off a hard fought loss to the Packers. The Stampede put up some points on the undefeated Cougars last week. The Thunder needs an offensive explosion for confidence heading into next week's battle with the Vikings.

Packers @ Steelers - The Steelers routed the Redskins 66-0 and the Packers defeated the Thunder 22-14. This one has the makings of a classic.

Cougars @ Jaguars - The COugars are on a roll while the Jaguars suffered a 31-6 defeat to the Turlock Vikings in an AFC battle. The Cougar's passing capability may provide problems for the Jaguars. The Jaguars need to get back on track by establishing their power running attack. AFC Varsity Game Of The Week!

Turlock Vikings @ Redskins - This one will be over quick. Viking QB AJ Derr was all over and Mr. Everything for the Vikings as they dismantled the Jaguars last week. His 3 TD passes were impressive. They look forward to their match-up with the Thunder next week.

Falcons vs. 49ers - The 49ers will be looking to bounce back from a 34-14 loss to Livingston. The 49ers are in dire need of an offensive explosion, while the Falcons dropped a close 14-9 game to the Bears.

Wildcats vs. Broncos - The Broncos lost a battle to the Seahawks and look to rebound. They have the talent and look to put up some points. The Wildcats remain winless and are still searching for a win.

Bears vs. Livingston - Livingston is on a roll and looks to open some eyes after the 34-14 win over the 49ers. The Bears will be looking to establish their ground game. Livingston is big and has some speed.

Seahawks vs. Sabercats - The Seahawks are the surprise of the NFC, with their (4-1) record and are still hungry. The Sabercats got its first win against the WIldcats 12-6.

Week #6 Mid Season!

A Big week as Mid-season already has playoff impact games. Teams will try to lock those top seeds.

Heading into Week 4: Division Games On Tap!

September 11, 2006
With all the non-league games in the books we now head into divisional play as the AFC and NFC teams begin their march to the top of their respective divisions. Overall the AFC held the edge over the NFC in the crossover games.

The AFC Peewees went 13-11 against the NFC with three teams (Thunder 3-0, Vikings 3-0 & Steelers 3-0) going undefeated. The NFC featured no undefeated teams. The AFC JV also went 13-11 against the NFC with three teams (Thunder 3-0, Cougars 3-0 and Steelers 3-0) going undefeated. The Broncos were the lone undefeated team in the NFC. The AFC Varsity went 16-8 against the NFC with four teams (Jaguars 3-0, Cougars 3-0, Vikings 3-0 and Steelers 3-0) going undefeated.

The AFC Varsity level is loaded and will provide stellar games throughout the divisional and playoff season. With 6 teams fighting for the Top 4 seeds. This week's top Varsity games include: The Vikings (3-0) @ Hilmar (2-1). The Vikings are coming off a 34-7 win over the Sabercats while the Packers are coming off a high scoring win over the Bears. This is the first ever meeting between the two organizations and this game looks to have a playoff atmosphere. The other barnburner will see the Thunder (2-1) traveling to Salida to face the (3-0) Steelers. After dropping a hard fought 8-6 game to the 49ers the Thunder bounced back with a 38-0 win over the Wildcats. The Steelers defeated the Wildcats 16-0 in Week are coming off of a 14-6 win against the Seahawks.

The AFC JV will see the undefeated Thunder travel to Salida to face the undefeated Steelers in the AFC JV game of the week. The Steelers are coming off a 22-6 win over the Seahawks while the Thunder are coming off a 64-0 win over the Wildcats. The Wildcats were a common opponents for both teams as the Steelers defeated the 'Cats 20-0 two weeks ago. Look for sparks to fly in this one!

The AFC Peewee game of the Week sees the Thunder (3-0) facing the (3-0) Steelers. The Steelers are coming off a 33-0 win over the Seahawks while the Thunder defeated the Wildcats 22-0. The Steelers defeated the Wildcats 14-6 two weeks ago. This game should be a great one.

NFC Games of the Week:

The NFC features one game that can have an effect on the division standings in the Falcons (1-2) @ Livingston (1-2). This game looks to be a tough one for both teams. Both team's wins were against the Redskins by similar 44-0 margins. The Falcons are coming ff a 20-6 setback to he Jaguars and dropped a 45-0 game to the Vikings while Livingston lost 26-6 to the Cougars and 9-6 to the Thunder.

The NFC JV game of the week looks to be the Broncos (3-0) vs. the Bears (2-1). The Broncos have looked very good early and are coming off of a win over the previously undefeated Stampede 42-28 while the Bears beat the Packers 39-26. The Broncos defeated the Packers 66-8 two weeks ago.

Another NFC JV game to watch: Sabercats vs. 49ers. The 49ers have played two of the toughest AFC teams in back to back weeks just losing 24-13 to the Cougars are are looking to get back into the win column. The Sabercats are coming off a 38-6 loss to the Turlock Vikings. Should be a competitive game.

Cen-Cal Week One Almost Here!

August 22, 2007
With the Round Robin now in the books.... We head into Week one of the regular season! Round Robin showcased some talented squads in both the AFC and NFC divisions. There is plenty of parity on the Varsity level and it looks to be very exciting week in and out with all the talent in the league. The JV level also looked very competitive and looks to provide weekly showdowns. The Peewees had about 6 teams that looked spectacular while the others were quite a ways behind, but that's why we practice and play the games. In football there are no guarantees! We are updating the schedules and game locations... so watch for that...plus watch for new pictures... Any reps with scrimmage or game footage uploaded... send us a link... or the the you tube location so we can embed the footage on this site.

A week from Saturday will be the big bash for the league which is ROUND ROBIN! The AFC round robin is at Buhach Colony High while the NFC round robin is at Sommerset Middle School in Modesto. 2007 Season Approaching!

July 14, 2007
As many of our teams are holding their mini-camps in the coming weekends leading into the season , it is imperativ that you constantly remind our kids to stay hydrated and to drink plenty of water prior to these camps and practices. Also it is important to take all pre-cautionary measures to avoid dehydration and heat exhaustion by allowing even more water breaks and allowing kids to step out and have water and / or rest whenever he / she may be feeling ill. We wish everyone a safe and successful beginning of the season. Please do your part to protect our kids.

The mandatory coaches meeting went very well and it was extremely exciting to see all the coaches from every team in attendance. You could sense the competitveness already!

As the season gets underway please feel free to send us pictures you have taken of your conditioning week and other events. We'll do our best to get them up on our website.

A reminder that the annual Cen-Cal Coaches Meeting is on Wednesday July 11th @ the Atwater Community Center. All Cen-Cal coaches are required to attend. This meeting will have the director of officials discussing any rule changes for the 2007 season and answering any additional questions you may have.

Any teams out there struggling with numbers and needing to beef up your advertising in a hurry, contact Keith Ducey in regards to promotional flyers and other print advertising items. The Jaguars did and they can vouch they are some very happy campers!

Good luck to everyone out there and their respective programs. IF you know of any youth football camps and / or clinics feel free to post them up on the forum, guestbook or email them to me. I believe Buhach Colony will host it's 6th annual Youth Football Camp in July. I'll post more details as I get them.

April 13, 2007
There are numerous Youth Football Camps that start up in late May and there are Camps that are in June and July. We will do our best to keep you posted on these camps. We look forward to providing the latest information on the best camps in and out of the area.

Mark Speckman is coming to the local area in June! For those that are not familiar with this coaching legend, he coached winners throughout the local area including stints at Livingston, Golden Valley and Merced (where he won back to back Sac Joaquin Section D-1 titles in 1989 and 1990.) Coach Speckman is well respected for his Coaching accomplishments, but it is what he accomplished in his own life living and succeeding with disabilities that has cemented his legacy. He is a nationally renown and highly sought after Motivational speaker that has been hired to speak in front of hundreds and sometimes thousands. His story is one that will touch the hearts of men and his powerful message is one that can be embraced by men, women and children alike. Be sure to catch him live when he visits the local area. More details to follow.

Cen-Cal Coaches Attend Frank Glazier Clinic in Sacramento

March 20, 2007
As Frank Glazier's annual clinic converged on Sacramento, hundreds of coaches from various high schools and youth organizations got many lessons and bits of advice from successful and renowned D-1 coaches and High School staff members alike. Some Cen-Cal teams had coaching staffs in attendance as well. These teams included the Los Banos Wildcats, Waterford Sabercats, Ceres Seahawks and Buhach Thunder. It says a lot about Cen-Cal coaches that these franchises send members of their coaching staff to attend these functions. "There's plenty to be learned," said Coach Ray Andrada from Buhach. "As a coach, you can never stop learning and picking up on new things." There will be another coaches clinic in Visalia on Sat. May 5th. Cost is $25 and speakers include Coach Kunau from D-II State Champion Orange Lutheran, Dave Humpers (Nevada Union) and Patrick Walsh(Serra San Mateo)They will also be hosting a Youth Topic Forum.

March 7, Cen-Cal Meeting Information

March 8, 2007
Lots of information gone through at last night's meeting. By-Laws were tweaked in some occasions and stayed the same for the most part. The biggest changes:

* Varsity weight limit up to 190 lbs.
* All 16 Teams qualify for playoffs, Season extended one week.
* Super Bowl on Sat. Dec. 1st, All-Stars Sat. Dec. 8th
* Cen-Cal requires 50 lb. square block weight to scale calibration
Cen-Cal to purchase 16 weights, one for each team.

Tidbits and Recent History.....

March 3, 2007
Cen-Cal has long been known as one of the Valley's most competitive youth football leagues. The Turlock teams, Merced teams and Atwater were always the pinnacle of the league. Back in the mid to late 80's, I can remember these teams: Atwater Raiders, Atwater Vikings, Winton Cowboys, Merced Steelers, Merced Elks, Livingston Eagles, Delhi Jets, Hughson Oilers, Turlock 49ers, Hilmar Packers being part of Cen-Cal. Turlock, Atwater & Merced seemed always dominant. At one point, Turlock had at least one team in the Varsity Super Bowl for 18 straight seasons. That streak would come to a halt in 2006. In the past three seasons the Super Bowl Champs and Runner-ups at each level, if I remember correctly are: 2004 Peewee Salida Steelers 14 Merced Cougars 6 * 2004 JV Atwater Falcons 20 Merced Cougars 0 * 2004 Varsity Turlock Vikings 12 Merced Cougars 8 ///// 2005 Peewee Merced Cougars 20 Modesto Broncos 14 * 2005 JV Merced Cougars 16 Merced Bears 8 * 2005 Turlock 49ers 41 Salida Steelers 6 * 2006 Peewee Turlock Vikings 21 Turlock 49ers 0 * JV Merced Cougars 36 Buhach Thunder 8 * Varsity Manteca Jaguars 20 Buhach Thunder 6

Over the past couple years the Turlock teams have been frontrunners but in recent years the Merced Cougars have posted impressive stats with 6 Super Bowl appearances in 3 years, winning 3. The growth of of Cen-Cal, 7 teams in the past 3 years is remarkable and will provide even more challenges for our teams. In 2005, The Waterford Sabercats & Buhach Thunder entered the league while the Oakdale Stampede entered in 2006.
Waterford & Oakdale have proven to be solid up and comers while Buhach has shown that it may be a force to be reckoned with as evidenced by its huge 2006 campaign that saw it send two teams to the Super Bowl with another just short of it and finished with a league best 35-6 record.

Salute To Long time Cen-Cal affiliates: Chris Camp (49ers), Joe Lewis (Vikings) & Matt Dietz (Broncos). These fellas have been around for nearly 20 years and are instrumental in helping to maintain integrity and order in the league. We want to say thank you for your time of service and hope that you will remain a vital part of cen-cal for years to come.

The Hilmar Packers & Livingston Vikings have been mainstays in the local youth football for many years. They were part of the original Cen-Cal League in the 80's but for the past 16 years or so they were part of the TVYFL. The Packers boasted a very strong program in 2006 with its JV squad taking home a Super Bowl title and the Varsity just falling short of the big game. Livingston had its Varsity fall a game short of the Super Bowl in 2006 and has a tradition of winning and fielding quality teams. The Ceres Seahwaks and Gustine Redskins are new franchises but we expect them to compete in their inaugural seasons.

February 22, 2007
We changed the site colors to a red, white and blue scheme. Let us know if this is good or if you would prefer to go back to the original color scheme (green)

Cen-Cal news: There's a annual coaches clinic coming up in March. The annual Frank Glazier Megaclinic. This year they moved it from San Jose to Sacramento, so it should be even better. It's FREE for all youth coaches.
It's not mandatory, but it is a good expereince and chance to learn a little more and listen to quality speakers. Last year, Buhach, Los Banos and Waterford had coaches in attendance.

Cen-Cal grows again! Accepts two new Teams

February 20, 2007
Cen-Cal expanded for the 2nd time in two weeks as it accepted the Livingston Vikings and Gustine Redskins at an emergency meeting on Monday evening. For years, the Vikings have competed in the TVYFL and have taken a huge step as they join the Cen-Cal League. Gustine has planned to emerge upon the scene for sometime and now can do just that. "We understand that Gustine is in it's first season, however we felt we could give them opportunity to compete in the league," said league Commissioner Jay Muschott. "With Livingston, we knew that they were deeply established and had a history of success so it was a definite plus to add this franchise." Cen-Cal closed out interview process for new teams for 2007 after this vote. We feel that we already have some of the Central Valley's most successful organizations and now Cen-Cal has distanced itself from the pack with the 2007 additions to the league. Next meeting, we will make any by-law changes and then finalize the by-laws. We're looking into restructuring the playoffs and giving even more opportunity to the lower seeded and less successful teams. Welcome and congratulations to the Livingston Vikings & The Gustine Redskins.

News & Updates

February 16, 2007
Cen-Cal will hold an emergency meeting to determine whether we will accept a couple new teams. "I have been contacted by two teams who are looking to join Cen-Cal," said Secretary Keith Ducey. "Our Stampede rep, Jeff Gottlieb also has been in talks with two teams as well and they may be present at the meeting." The growth of Cen-Cal says a lot about the league as a whole and the addition of the new teams thus far help strengthen our reputation as one of the the country's most competitive programs.
