2006 BASEBALL HEAVEN SPRING HIGHLIGHTS
PLAYOFFS
After winning their first game by the score of 4-0 the Eagles lack of hitting finally caught up to them and they lost to the South Bay Battlecats 2-1 in the semifinals. It was a disappointing end to a great Spring season, which included a league best record of 12-3 and a tournament championship over the Memorial day weekend.
WEEK 8
Despite poor defense and weak hitting the Eagles split with the South Bay Battlecats winning game 1 (5-4) and losing game 2 (4-1). The split clinches the regular season championship for the Eagles with a record of 12-3. Congratulations to all on a fine season. Playoffs begin May 30.
WEEK 7
Eagles defeat SS Claws 12-1. Fine all around play by everyone led to victory number 11. Game 1 was rained out. Eagles can wrap up regular season Championship on Sunday.
WEEK 6
Eagles sweep Phillies 7-5 and 2-1 in 8 innings. Game 1 featured a tremendous come back. After falling behind 5-0 the Eagles showed real determination in scoring 7 runs over the last 4 innings, including 2 in the bottom of the 7th, highlighted by Chris's triple. Game 2 featured strong starting pitching from Nick V (6 innings 1 run), another lights out relief performance by John (2 innings no hits no runs) and timely hitting by Reyes (triple and scored tying run in 7th - RBI Scott - and drove in winning run in the 8th). Record is now a robust 10-2 with 4 games remaining.
WEEK 5
Eagles split with Mustangs. A lack luster game one loss (6-1) was followed by an exciting extra inning win in game two (3-1). Chris pitched 9 excellent innings to pick up the win and Ethan had all 3 RBIs in handing the Mustangs their first loss of the season.
WEEK 4
Eagles defeat SS Claws 8-0 in game 1 behind another fine pitching performance from Scott. Game 2 was a "ho hum" affair won by the Eagles 6-2. The battle for first place begins Sunday.
WEEK 3
Eagles improve to 5-1 with sweep of Suffolk Lions 8-2 and 5-3. Once again timely hitting and excellent defense were the keys to victory.
WEEK 2
EAGLES DEFEAT SOUTH BAY BATTLE CATS 4-0 AND 3-0 BEHIND EXCELLENT PITCHING FROM SCOTT (5 INNINGS) AND JOHN (2 INNINGS 0 RUNS) IN GAME ONE AND A NO HITTER FROM CHRIS IN GAME 2. A TIMELY TWO OUT TWO RUN TRIPLE BY REYES IN THE 6TH INNING OF GAME 1 PROVIDED MUCH NEEDED BREATHING ROOM.
WEEK 1
The Eagles split their season opener at Baseball Heaven against the P/M Raiders. After suffering another heartbreaking 8-7 defeat in game 1 the Eagles rebounded in game 2 and won 8-4 in 8 exciting innings. A huge double play in the bottom of the 7th inning with no outs forced extra innings. Timely hitting and good hustle lead to 4 runs in the top of the 8th.
