ROBBED IN REHOBOTH
The Eagles were robbed of victory in a semi-final battle aganist the top seeded Delaware Shorebirds (black)in the Firecracker Open at Sports At The Beach in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. A close play at first, only according to the umpires, prevented the Eagles from taking the lead and possible victory. As a result of the "bad call"
the game went into extra innings.
After a great play at the plate that extended the game further the Eagles got the lead off man on in the top of the 8th but could not get him in. In the bottom of the 8th after two were out the Eagles ended a long hot weekend by letting in the winning run. A single followed by a triple down the left field line was the difference as the Eagles lost 5-4.
Despite a successful run to the tournament semi-finals, which included some great baseball, the Eagles were disappointed that the game and tournament were tarnished by some highly questionable calls.
While the Eagles may have been robbed at the field they nonetheless ROCKED Rehoboth Beach for 4 days and 3 nights. Caped off by a fireworks show on July 2. The boardwalk was alive with Eagles flying from one place to another shouting "dirty ball","shooter", "shot". A great time was had by all.

Great pitching by Ethan in the championship game along with stellar defense were the keys to victory. It was a long, hot and draining weekend (6 games) but the Eagles hung tough and claimed their first Tournament victory of the season. Great job by all. Including all those parents who helped with food and beverages on sunday and monday, especially Margie (sun - chicken and rice) and Lisa (monday - leftovers and pizza). Special thanks to Sal for the tent and tarps to keep us all cool.
It's on to North Branford, Ct for our next tournament

HITLESS IN HAMBURG, PA (May 13/14)
The Eagles scored 5 runs in 3 games in failing to reach the Semi-Finals of the 18 team Mother's Day Classic in Hamburg, Pa. Game 1: Eagles lead 3-1 going into the bottom of the 7th inning behind the fine pitching of John when the Keystone Nationals (finalist) erupted for 3 runs on 5 straight opposite field hits to win the game. Game 2: Behind the great pitching of Chris and a well executed safety squeeze by Joey the Eagles prevail over the Pennsylvania Predators 1-0 (semi-finalist) Game 3: With the semi-finals in the offering as a result of two well played and low scoring games the Eagles are defeated by the Montco Mustangs Baseball Club 8-1 (semi-finalist). It was a disappointing end to a fine weekend of baseball but at least the men received new team jackets - thanks Sam. But wasn't it Mother's Day? All 3 teams the Eagles played made the final four (semi-finals). The Hunterdon Hitman defeated the Keystone Nationals 2-1 in the Championship Game.

BATTERED IN BRANFORD, CT
Despite making it to the quarterfinals of the Northeast Territory Cup Championships in North Branford, Ct. the Eagles had a terrible weekend of baseball - but the rest of it was great, except for the mystery photographer. A weekend of bad baseball is still better than a weekend without baseball, correct?
