ACCOMPLISHMENT IN AGOSTINELLI TOURNAMENT
Eagles finish second in BOS/Agostinelli Memorial Tournament. On Sat Eagles defeat Storm and lose to Team Mizuno. Behind the hot hitting of Reyes (3 doubles and a triple) the Eagles jump out out to a 7-2 lead and eventually hold on for an exciting 7-6 win. Ryan C comes in with the tying and winning runs on and shuts the door to secure the win for Scott. Reyes continues hot hitting in game 2 (another triple) to back the fine pitching of Chris. Eagles take 2-1 lead into the top of the seventh but Mizuno explodes for 3 runs and hands the Eagles a heartbreaking 4-2 loss. On Sunday Eagles defeat Islip Bucs and LI Lions to qualify for Championship Game. In game 1 excellent defense and timely hitting back the fine pitching of Anthony (6 innings 1 run)as the Eagles defeat the Bucs 5-1. In game 2, with a Championship birth in the offering, the Eagles bats explode for 9 runs in 5 innings and Ryan C pitches a no hitter for a 9-0 victory over the Lions. In the Championship Game, Ryan C gets the call (what's wrong with his father?) and pitches 5 innings giving up 2 questionable runs. Eagles bats, while still strong, fail to produce in the clutch as they leave 11 men on base. Another long tournament, are there any other kind, ends in a runner up finish for the Eagles as they lose to the LI Astros in the Championship Game.

LOST IN LEHIGH VALLEY
Eagles lose in ECTB's Columbus Day Bash in Allentown, Pa. Despite excellent pitching - Anthony 6 innings 3 runs, Nick V 4 innings 1 run, Ryan 3 innings 0 runs and Scott 6 innings 1 run - the Eagles could not overcome their total lack of offense. On sat the Eagles lost 3-1 and tied 1-1. On Sunday, with a birth in the semifinals awaiting, the Eagles failed to score and lost to the LI Royals 1-0. As disappointing as the games were the Eagles still managed to enjoy themselves in the Lehigh Valley area. The players visited Dorney Park for Fright Fest on sat (thanks to the Lanzarones)and the parents proved once again that left right center can be played anywhere - enjoying the game at Damons Bar and Grill while awaiting dinner.

BROKENHEARTED IN BRANFORD
Eagles reach finals of Fall Festival Tournament in N. Branford, Ct. After scoring 2 runs in the top of the first the Eagles fail to add to that lead and the Clippers finally tie the score at 2 all after 4. In the bottom of the seventh inning with 2 outs and a runner on second the Clippers score the deciding run on a blast to left field. Eagles lose 3-2. While BROKENHEARTED the Eagles take solace in the fact this was their fifth Championship Game Appearance of the 2007 tournament season, a truly great accomplishment.
Once again the question must be asked - now in a different state: Is left, right, center legal in Ct.? Special thanks to all those parents who made the weekend enjoyable and especially to those who drove back and forth for 1 or 2 days. Your spirit and dedication is a big reason why the Eagles continue to Soar. Eagles next flight: Allentown, Pa. for ECTB Columbus Day Tournament (Eagles were finalists in 2006).

AWESOME IN ALLENTOWN
The Eagles "fly" into the finals of the ECTB Clash of Champions behind an "awesome" display of Hitting with Scott Davis (846 BA), Timmy Brown (652 BA), Nick LaSala (471 BA) all on Fire throughout the tournament and the right arm of "one more inning" Anthony. Winning 3 straight games by the combined scores of 26-5. Fine all around hitting allowed the Eagles to play 6 games in 2 days. On Sunday the Eagles arrived at the field at 7am and left at 10pm winning 3 games but losing in the Championship Game. After falling behind 6-0 the Eagles managed to not only tie the game but eventually take the lead after 5 innings before falling behind by 3 heading into the last inning. After scoring one run and having the bases loaded with only one out in the bottom of the 7th inning the Eagles long day came to a disappointing end when they couldn't push across the tying and/or winning runs and lost 10-8. After almost 15 hours of some of the most exciting baseball the Eagles have played in their history (2 1/2 years)it was time to "return to the nest". But first a stop for dinner - the parking lot of Wendy's (is anything open in Pa after 10pm?). A great time was had by all. Great job by all the players and the best fans (parents, siblings and friends) in travel ball. Is left/right/center legal in Pa? It was truly a memorable event. FYI: this marked the Eagles third straight appearance in a 2007 tournament Championship game.

"TWO" FRESH AT SPORTS AT THE BEACH
Eagles are "two" fresh and finish second at the Firecracker Open IV at Sports at the Beach in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware. Behind the excellent pitching of Scott (7 innings 4 runs), Ryan (6 innings, 3 runs, 1 hit, 10 Ks), John (7 innings 1 run) and Chris/Nick V (7 innings 1 run)the Eagles roar (finish second out of 17 teams)into the Championship Round with a record of 3-1 and only 9 runs allowed. The Championship round features the continued brilliance of the pitching staff. Quarter-final victory by Anthony (7 innings 2 runs) and Semi-final victory by Chris (7 innings 1 run)ensure the Eagles appearance in the Championship Game against the powerful Delmarva Shorebirds. Unfortunately the Eagles are grounded and lose 8-0. This is the second year in a row the Eagles are defeated by the Shorebirds (last year in the Semi-Finals and this year in the finals). All the Eagles hope to break that streak next year when they will make their third straight appearance at the Firecracker Open.

SUMMER HEAT TOURNAMENT AT BASEBALL HEAVEN
Eagles reach Finals behind the strong pitching of Chris and baserunning of Nick V (6 stolen bases). After a slow start in the tournament the Eagles rebounded and won 3 straight to reach the finals where they were subdued by "Tim Wakefield" - for you older fans "Wilbur Wood" - and lose 7-1. It was a fine and long weekend of baseball. On Sunday the Eagles arrived at Baseball Heaven at 9am and departed at 9:30pm.
Next tournament: Sports at the Beach in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Bring your swimmies.

EAGLES SHOT DOWN IN MEMORIAL DAY SHOOTOUT
Eagles finish a disappointing third. After winning the first two games behind solid pitching from Chris, John and Anthony as well as fine all around hitting, especially from Robbie and Scott the Eagles qualified for the semi finals as a number one seed. However, the Eagles were outpitched and out hit by the LI Mariners losing 4-1. The only run scoring on Matt's home run. Eagles rebounded nicely in the consolation game and beat the LI Lions 9-1 behind the strong pitching of Nick V and a home run by John.
