".....for the love of the game!" This weekend, the Long Island Stan Musial Baseball League held its annual All-Star games at LI Ducks Stadium on Friday night and all day Saturday. As Commmissioner and a manager who has been with the league for 14 years, it was in my opinion a fine night and a grand day. The games were enjoyable, started on time and thanks to many people well-organized. Most people had a great time at Ducks park.
On behalf of the league, there are a few people I would like to thank for making it such a success and if I leave anyone out, I apologize for many people helped out. Bryan Spano, deputy commissioner, who contacted the eligible managers and collected all the players data so we could put together the rosters. This enabled us to get out the rosters to the managers on Thursdays, who were able to have lineups prepared and made check-in on Friday & Saturday less complicated. It was a treat to have all player names on the scoreboard for each game. Marty Siry, deputy commissioner, who spent most of the day at Ducks Park on Saturday helping with Admissions, Check-in & Concessions. Harvey Sperling's wife who worked concessions for more than 6 hours. Jimmy Rose, President, who ran preparations all week getting everything ready. And of course, Frank Giglio, of the Long Island Drive, who did an outstanding job the entire weekend coordinating the event.
This was great teamwork on everybody's part. My thanks to all the managers and players who participated. My thanks also to the managers who came prepared with lineups and for managing our teams.
For all of us who love the game of baseball, it was a most enjoyable event and I sincerely appreciate everyone's positive effort and cooperation.

THE LISM BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS HAVE COMPLETED THE CERTIFICATION OF THE LEAGUE STANDINGS IN THE FOLLOWING DIVISIONS:PRO WOOD, D1 WOOD, D2 WOOD, D1 METAL, D2 METAL AS OF TONIGHT WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 2 GAMES TO BE PLAYED - ONE IN D2 METAL TONIGHT AND ONE IN D2 WOOD FRIDAY. BOTH GAMES HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE STANDINGS.

THE SCHEDULE COORDINATOR IS NOW WORKING ON THE PLACING OF TEAMS AND FIELDS INTO THE BRACKETS ACCORDING TO THE SEEDING OF TEAMS IN EACH DIVISION. AS SOON AS THE FIRST GAMES ARE AVAILABLE THEY WILL BE POSTED
ON THE LEAGUE WEBSITES AND YOUR COMMISSIONER WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH YOU
AS WELL.

The 2011 LISM League Manual with updates, changes and new items has been added to the league website under LEAGUE FORMS.
Every manager and coach is encouraged to read and download a copy to follow this season as the Board of Commissioners along with the LISM President will continue to utilize this manual to operate the league.
Updates to the following areas should be reviewed: schedule submission deadlines, league fee deadlines, roster deadlines, statistics deadlines and playoff eligibility.
New regulations concerning team/player uniform policy and cross-over games have been added.
Please be sure to read the updated manual with the new changes.
