Mo-Co Rush 16U/18U KH

The Mo-Co Rush 16U/18U will be conducting tryouts on the evenings of 8/4 and 8/5 from 6-8 PM at Moore Park in Arcola, IL. All 16U and 18U eligible players are welcome.

 

A 9 run final inning gave the Rush 05 at 10-3 win and the HS Division championship in Terre Haute at the USSSA Border Wars.

Mo-Co Rush 05 started their summer season off with 3 wins in the USSSA 14U SEMO State Championships in Cape Girardeau, MO. The Rush finished at 3-0 and tied for 1st place after Sunday was rained out.

5 Walk-off wins to win last year's world series just wasn't enough so the girls decided they needed a couple more extra inning walk-off wins this weekend. Championship went 9 innings where the Rush 05 scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win the title at the DuQuoin Indoor Ice Breaker. Hats off to the Paducah Lady Storm who we defeated in both of those extra inning games. They are a fantastic team. Rush 05 went 5-0 and have now won 23 of 24 since giving up 4 in their 1st inning of their 1st fall game to lose 4-3. Record stands at 23-2 overall.

Mo-Co Rush 05 members Karah Moore, Kaitlyn Drew and Alisha Frederick competed with and against 360 12U players representing 47 of 50 states in Oklahoma City.

Mo-Co Rush 05 went 4-0 to win the title at the Mattoon Pride ASA Spring Round Robin on 4/28.

The Mo-Co Rush 05 finished 6-2 at the Indoor Ice Breaker tournament at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, IL and took home 2nd place.  The Rush battled great competition from IL, IN and KY.

The Mo-Co Rush will add 9U/10U baseball teams in the 2017 season.  Leading the 10U baseball coaching staff will be Jeff Thomas who played for Baylor University. Thomas pitched for the Bears and played on the team that went 41-19 and won a conference championship. After college, he played six seasons of professional baseball.  Following his baseball career, he went on to become Athletic Director and coach at St. Austin Catholic School in Austin, Texas from 2002-07. He has also managed a baseball academy in Temple, Texas, and has given private baseball lessons for over 20 years.  During that time, he worked with current Chicago White Sox pitcher Zach Duke.  Thomas also coached at the University of Illinois in 2009-2010 as an Assistant, was the Pitching Coach for Butler University during the 2010-2011 season, and was the Head Assistant Coach for Millikin University in 2008-2009.

The 10U completed a record setting season with a final record of 76-13 and a 4th place finish at the NSA B World Series in Evansville, IN.  They fell in the bottom of the 7th of their final game 8-7 after scoring 3 runs to take the lead in the top of the 7th.  This followed a game that saw them score 2 in the bottom of the 7th to win 3-2 and advance to the final 4.

The 18U went 3-2 and finished in 9th place at the world series.  Their games were held in Owensboro, KY.

The Mo-Co 10U, 12U and 18U teams all reached the final 6 of their state tournaments before rain caused the tournament to be cancelled on the final day.  Due to that all three teams tie for 3rd in their divisions.

In the process the 10U moved past the all-time Rush win record by recording their 64th win to go with 10 losses.

Sullivan senior and Mo-Co 18U member Seleste Smith recently signed on to continue her softball career at Robert Morris University in Chicago.

 

The Mo-Co Rush 10U finished 4-1 at the Pekin Early Birdie NSA Qualifier on 3/14.  After winning the semifinal in extra innings they lost the title game to the Lockport Pride, 6-5, also in extra innings.

 

Villa Grove senior and Mo-Co 18U player Myranda Mayhall recently signed on to continue her softball career with Parkland College in Champaign, IL.

The Mo-Co Rush 10U finished their fall season with a record of 18-2 after going 6-0 at the Olney Halloween Extreme Tournament.

Over the 4th of July weekend all three Mo-Co teams placed in the top 4 in the NSA South state tournament in Peoria: 10U-4th, 12U-3rd, 18U-3rd

Last the week the Mo-Co Rush 10U, 12U and 18U ended their seasons by competing in the NSA World Series in Indianapolis.  The 10U tied for 9th out of 43 teams, while the 12U tied for 17th out of 65 teams.  Congrats to all the girls and families that worked so hard throughout the year.  We are truly a family!

The 2015 Mo-Co Rush 10U competed in their first tournament of the spring/summer the weekend of April 25-26 in Effingham.  The Rush came away with a second place finish and qualified for the 2015 NSA World Series in Indianapolis.  The Rush started the weekend against the Mattoon Cobras and one of the best pitchers in the area in Karlie Bean.  It was their first outing of the season against Bean, and the Rush lost the opener 6-0.  After that the Rush won 5 straight games over Jasper County, St. Anthony, CI Diamonds, Mattoon Pride and the Cobras.  The last two wins were exciting last inning come from behind finishes.  They trailed the Pride, a team that defeated them twice in the fall, 5-2 heading into the bottom of the 3^rd, but rallied to score 2 in the 3^rd, 1 in the 4^th and 1 in the bottom of the 5^th to win it.  That win propelled them into the championship where they needed to defeat the Mattoon Cobras twice to win the title.  In game 1 the Rush was down 7-4 in the bottom of the 6^th when they rallied to score 4 runs to win the game and force the extra game.  The Rush ran out of gas and lost 9-1 to the Cobras and Bean in the finale.  Hit leaders for the weekend were Sullivan’s Kinley Hill and Arthur’s Alisha Frederick both with 7 each, while 3 others had 4 hits each.  The trio of Arcola’s Keira Hohlbauch, Sullivan’s Katie Honchell and Arthur’s Ryli Kauffman pitched well all weekend.  Arthur’s Charley Condill also caught in 6 of the 7 games and threw out 8 base runners.  The Rush travel to Charleston and Terre Haute in May for their next two tournaments.

The 2014 season came to a close with 3 teams making a good showing at the NSA B World Series in NW Indiana.  The 10U and 14U both went 2-3, while the 12U went 5-2 after starting 5-0 and finished 9th out of 60.  2 exciting comebacks highlighted the week for the 12U.  One was against the NSA Northern State Champion, Lincoln-Way Storm, who ended up in 3rd place.  LW led the Rush 6-0 entering the bottom of the 7th when the Rush plated 2 runs and then loaded the bases.  Allie Dunn hit a grand slam to tie it at 6 and the Rush ended up winning 9-8 in 9 innings.  4 once-in-a-lifetime comebacks for the 12U this year.  What a ride girls!

We also had our organizational win record get broken for the 3rd year in a row.  Last year's 10U held the record at 56.  This year the 12U went 63-26 to claim the record.  Who will it be next year?

 

The Mo-Co Rush 12U entered their final at bat down 9-2 only to score 8 runs to win the NSA B South State Title!  The 12U went 6-0 on the weekend and have won 13 in a row.  The Rush had 4 of 5 teams place in the top 5 at state.  Incredible job everyone!!!:

The annual dinner and auction will take place on Saturday, February 23rd, at the American Legion in Sullivan.  Doors open at 5 PM with a grilled chicken breast/BBQ pork loin dinner being served from 6-7 PM.  Raffles and the auction will follow dinner.  Tickets are $12.  Contact your local Rush player or Wes Frederick (coachwf3@techemail.com or 217-454-9517) for tickets.

Mo-Co Madness 10U Schedule

Mo-Co Madness Rules

Moultrie County Rush Girls Softball will be holding a fundraiser dinner, auction and youth dance on Saturday, February 25th, at the Sullivan American Legion located at 8 East Strain Street next to Wyman Park.

A catered dinner from Niemerg’s Steakhouse in Effingham will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Doors will open at 5 PM. The dinner will consist of fried chicken/ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, homemade noodles, cole slaw, rolls, and dessert. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. (dinner ticket includes admission to the youth dance)

The Auction will start at 7:00 pm. There will be a variety of items available for bidding. The youth dance goes from 8:30-11:00 PM. Dance tickets are included with the meal ticket or can be purchased separately for $5 in advance or at the door. There will be drinks, candy, and novelty items available for purchase during the dance.

This fundraiser is a vital source of revenue for the Mo-Co Rush. The funds raised are used to pay for association fees, tournament entry fees, umpire fees, insurance, equipment, etc. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
