Frank Penale Outstanding Umpire Award
Frank Penale was a member of the NFUA from 1948-1989. For many of those years he served as President of the Association. In 1991 he was inducted into the Niagara Falls Umpires Hall of Fame, and was also awarded the Tony DeVivo award which is awarded by the New York State Baseball Umpires Association. Frank was the first winner of the DiVivo award.
The NFUA's Umpire of the Year Award is dedicated to Frank Penale. This award is given each year to one umpire who follows the acronym S.A.F.E.
