Dirtbags Come in tied for 5th in the 2010 AAU National Championships

June 25, 2010
The 2010 O'ahu Dirtbags come in tied for 5th in the 2010 AAU National Championships. The TEAM performed admirably this week as we competed with some of the nation's best teams. We had our ups and downs but it was a memorable experience for the kids, coaches and families. It was fun to see our kids battle with the likes of #9 California Dynamite and #12 MBA Pride. We hung in there with the both of them but came up just a little short. I believe that we can compete with anyone in the country but we would have to play on top of our game to do so. I hope the kids learned a lot from their experience and hope that they will push themselves to get better while still having some fun. We strap it up again next week as we compete in the Cal Ripken State Tournament. Get Dirty and Go Dirtbags !!!!!

The 12U division at the AAU National Tournament in Orlando, Florida is packed with high talent teams that will be making the trip to the central part of the sunshine state in hope of bringing home a national championship. The highest ranked team attending the event will be the #2 TBS ranked Chet Lemon’s Juice (FL). This year the Juice has played extremely well and has taken home the championship at the East Cobb Astros (GA) Invitational where they went on to defeat Stixx Baseball (GA), MBA Pride (FL), Georgia Roadrunners, and the BL Outlaws (AL). The Juice also won the AAU Florida State Championships defeating Honorable Mention Team Clap Bat in the championship game.

The Monarchs are in a very completive Pool D that includes the MBA Pride and World of Baseball (FL).This year the Monarchs have taken the World Series of NorCal. The Monarchs went 5-0 in that tournament defeating many of the top Northern California teams including Hard 90 Phenom Premier, Bay Valley Bombers Orange and San Ramon Slammers. The Monarchs also picked up a tournament victory at the Triple Crown Sports May Day tournament.

MBA Pride, which currently sits at the #12 ranking looks to take a high finish as well in this year's AAU Championships. MBA comes in placing 2nd at the East Cobb Astros Invitational and have recently won the Northeast Florida State Championship defeating the TBS Honorable Mention Team Clap Bat (FL) in the semis and the Honorable Mention Beyel Brothers Bulldogs (FL) in the Finals.

#13 Twelve Team Rawlings (TX) has also penciled in the trip and look to be major contenders. This year Team Rawlings has had some impressive wins including winning the always tough Rooley Texas League with a 12-3 record.

Dirtbags are Da Bash VI Champions

June 1, 2010
The O'ahu Dirtbags claim Da Bash VI Championship. The Dirtbags played excellent baseball over the entire weekend. We finish the weekend going 5-0 defeating the Windward Yankees, the Wai-Kahala Cardinals, the Kolohe Warriors, the Lihue Cardinals and the Lihue Jays.

The TEAM clicked on all cylinders with a potent offensive attack and dominating pitching. The offense compiled a .525 Batting Average over the 5 game stretch with 82 base hits. The pitching gave up a total of 3 runs, all of them being unearned, over the 5 games including 3 shutouts.

We still need to get better as the competition will stiffen in the next couple of weeks. We are entered in the Wai-Kahala Kamehameha Day Tournament which features the likes of Mililani "A" Bronco All-Stars, the Ewa Hurricanes and the C.O. Boyz just to name a few. Competing with the State's best will only help us get better as we try to get ready for the AAU National Championships later in June.

Back to Kauai, I wanted to give a BIG MAHALO to the Ibia Ohana for everything you did for the Dirtbags this past weekend. Thank you very much !!!!!

Party @ Port Lock

May 24, 2010
The Dirtbags had a Party @ Port Lock and the Highlight of the day was Coach Bill's 107 lb. Oio !!!!! Ooops, sorry, 7 lb. Oio. You know how the fisherman like to add about 100 lbs. or so to their catch. Anyways, good times, good friends and good company made for a fun filled afternoon with the Dirtbag Nation.

The kids and families are starting to feel more and more comfortable with each other which makes for a nice recipe for success. We have a bunch of talented 12 year olds along with mixing in the great company of all of the Ohana.

The Dirtbags look for an exciting summer of baseball together.

The 2010 O'ahu Dirtbags

The revamped 2010 O'ahu Dirtbags will take their game to the East Coast to participate in the AAU National Championships this summer. The team is ready to go and is looking forward to the opportunity to represent the "808".

Dirtbags are USSSA World Series CHAMPS !!!!!

July 27, 2008
The Dirtbags are USSSA World Series Champions after defeating the King Ratz in extra innings by the score of 10-9. The Dirtbags win a "THRILLER" in a game that went back and forth. The King Ratz came out and played gutty baseball putting pressure on the High Powered Dirtbags. It wasn't the same team that we defeated the night before. We knew we had a battle on our hands. King Ratz opened a 3-0 lead only to see the Dirtbags tie it in the very next inning. We then went ahead by 3 only to see the Ratz close the gap to 1. The Dirtbags now go ahead by 2 and head to the bottom of the 5th only to see the Ratz take the lead again on a 3-run blast. Going into the last inning down by 1, Mason Asato drove home Ryne Yamashiro to tie the ball game. Now with Mason on 3rd, a failed squeeze bunt attempt left him stranded. A 1-2-3 bottom of the sixth set the stage for a dramatic finish. Josh Muneno lead off with a HBP. He stole second and third which brought up Lawson Faria who "clutched up" with a shot down the 3rd base line for the game winning RBI. Codie Paiva then shut the door inducing 2 pop ups and a ground out to short stop Nick Enrico which sent the fans jumping in celebration as the Dirtbags earn a hard fought victory. A quick shout out to all of the players, coaches, families, siblings, and Dirtbag Ohana back home for all of your support this extended season. As Always, GET DIRTY AND GO DIRTBAGS !!!!!
