Player Evaluations

In the Pigtail and Ponytail divisions (non-competitive), the teams are chosen by the coaches. If you have a team you want your daughter to be on, we will accommodate that request.

MINORS / NATIONALS / AMERICANS / STARS
All players are evaluated on February 22, 2014 or March 1, 2014 at a location to be announced: Minors and Nationals at 9:00 AM; Americans at 10:00 AM; Stars at 11:00 AM. A random draft is then held to try to make all teams as even as possible.

Team Requests

It is the policy of the league to encourage even distribution of the girls to give every team an equal opportunity to compete. Therefore, the league rules discourage parents and kids from pre-selecting their teammates. If you feel you have a special circumstance that warrants an exception to that rule, you must state so in writing. The League Chair and Commissioner will review each request to determine before the draft which girls can be linked together without affecting the equality of the teams.

Late Fees

Each registration received after February 22, 2014 will incur a $5.00 late fee.

Waiting Lists

As leagues have approached capacity, some waiting lists have been added. If you are registering for a waiting list after February 22, 2014, the registration will be assessed the $5.00 late fee (because it is still late).

Evaluations:

MINORS/NATIONALS/AMERICANS STARS ONLY

All players are evaluated on Feb 25th or March 3rd, 2012 at TBA. Minor and National's-9:00 am; American-10:00; Stars-11:00am. A random draft is then held to try to make all teams as even as possible.

Team Requests:

It is the policy of the league to encourage even distribution of the girls to give every team an equal opportunity to compete. Therefore, the league rules discourage parents and kids from pre-selecting their teammates. If you feel you have a special circumstance that warrants an exception to that rule, you must state so in writing. The League Chair and Commissioner will review each request to determine before the draft which girls can be linked together without affecting the equality of the teams.

A Great Season!

Thunderstorm Policy Reminder

A reminder...It might be sunny right now! but thunderstorms are predicted...  Just a reminder of the policy for thunderstorms while on the fields.

1 rumble of thunder/lightning - off the field for 30 minutes.

DO NOT go back on to the field for 30 minutes from the LAST rumble of thunder/lightning.

DO NOT wait by the backstop.

DO NOT wait under a tree.

Everyone must wait in their cars.

The official Baltimore County Department of Recreation and ParksPolicy is:
Upon the first sound of thunder or sighting of lightning all in attendance at the outdoor activity should immediately go to their cars or enter a building. No one will be allowed to resume play until 30 minutes after the last sound of thunder and/or the last sighting of lightning. Recreation staff has complete authority to enforce this policy at a Baltimore County facility. In the absence of recreation staff, volunteer coaches and officials must follow this policy.

Welcome 2011 Pigtails and Ponytails

February 28, 2011

Welcome all Pigtail and Ponytail players to the Parkville Girls Softball program!

I know this is the first time a lot of your daughters are playing a group sport and I've had a few questions from some of you about how this season will go...so, I wanted to reach out with a few notes for you.

Equipment:

The only thing you'll need to have your daughter ready with is a glove.  They are not required to have cleats.  It is up to you if you want to have your daughter wear those.

Evaluations:

Pigtails and Ponytails do not attend the evaluation days that you see on the calendar on our website.

Practice Start Day:

You will be contacted by your daughters coach for the season with more specific information between March 24-31.

Pigtails - Sat, April 9th from 12pm-1pm at Pine Grove Middle School.

Ponytails - Wed, April 6th from 6pm-7:30pm (field TBA - either Pine Grove Middle or Pine Grove Elem.  More to come)

Communication:

Our coaches rely on email to reach everyone with updates and notes.  Please reply back to this note if there is an additional email address you would like to add to the distribution for this age group or if you would prefer an alternate method of communication.

If you have any other questions, please ask!

Looking forward to a fun season of softball!

Thanks, Chris Martin
