End of Season Wrap-up
May 13, 2009 --
Hello Ladies,
First, I'd like to say it was a pleasure coaching all of you this year and I want to especially thank all of the seniors for your leadership and hard work. I thank all of you for being dedicated and motivated even on the days I couldn't make it or was not able to give 100%.
Some of you asked me to find out if there were any club teams for you to get involved with this summer, and unfortunately all of the teams that are in the DC/metro area have already had tryouts and have established teams. If anyone finds any new team that is looking for players, please let me know. Here is a link to a list of club teams in Montgomery county and the surrounding areas: uslacrossepotomac.org. My suggestion is to contact the club team you'd like to tryout for and ask if they are having tryouts in the Fall if they do not have the information on their website.
The next best thing would be for you to get involved in some summer leagues to keep up with your skills and possibly learn new things from other lacrosse players. Here a couple of leagues in your area that you might consider for the summer:
* Upper 90 Lacrosse League Potomac
*Upper 90 Lacrosse League Germantown
*Play Her Sports Summer league
*Washington Women's lacrosse (Checkout the lacrosse league info in the handout section)
I would be happy to help coordinate a team if enough people would like to play.
Also there are some great lacrosse camps you can check out as well for the summer. Here are a few links:
*Salisbury Camp
*McDonogh Camp
*Fastbreak lacrosse camp
*Game Breaker Lacrosse Camp
*Elivate Lacrosse Camps
*C2 lacrosse camps (Checkout the lacrosse camp info in the handout section)
I will also be posting a link to a off season workout packet in the next couple of days, so you can at least keep yourself in good shape before the season begins next year.
Whichever you choose I highly recommend that when possible you continue playing and/or learning more lacrosse in the off season. As I stated before, it is critical that we do this in order to take the team to the next level.
I too am making a commitment to improve my coaching skills by attending several coaches clinics and I'll be coaching over the summer as well. If you have any questions and/or suggestions on clinics, leagues or clubs please feel free to email me.
See you at the picnic! ~Coach T
