CYO Basketball

The CYO basketball program in Swampscott began in 1953, under the guidance of Dick Lynch as a grammar school intramural team program. It is the oldest youth athletic organization in Swampscott. Our home games and practices are held at the Swampscott Middle School. Every 1,000 point scorer in Swampscott High School history has participated in CYO basketball. CYO plays a 14-18 game schedule finishing with the state tournament in March. Teams include St.Adelaide’s, St. Ann's and St. John’s of Peabody. St. Pius and Sacred Heart of Lynn. St. Joseph, St. Francis, and St. Rafael of Medford. St. Johns of Winthrop, Blessed Sacrament of Saugus, Immaculate Conception of Revere, Immaculate Conception of Salem, Our Lady of Assumption in Lynnfield, Sacred Heart of East Boston, St Thomas of Nahant and St. Mary's of Winchester. The Bantam team is comprised of 4th, 5th, and 6th grade players. The Cadet team is comprised of 7th and 8th grade players. A Junior team is comprised of high school players in grades 9-11 who do not play varsity basketball. This type of set-up most closely resembles the current High School Basketball combined grade level teams. CYO basketball provides the best opportunity for success in this type of environment.
