The Stark County Terriers defeated the Pittsburgh Pandas 4-2 in the Tri-State Collegiate League Championship game on Monday night at Pemberton Park in Youngstown, Ohio!
The Terriers relied on Matthew Kittelberger to eat up innings en route to the win. Kittelberger started the game and pitched seven innings, allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks while striking out two.
Shawn Holman ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
Terriers' closer Andrew Smith put away the final six outs to record the save.
The Pandas jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. A double by Chris Miller, scoring Tyler Craig started the inning off. Stark County tied the score in the top of the third on a bases loaded walk by Jake Tisevich.
The Terriers went up for good in the fourth, scoring three runs on three singles. Will Haueter lead off the inning with a double. Austin White walked followed by the three singles by Sean Trexler, Tim Turner and David Fach.
The Pandas managed one run in the bottom of the fourth. That ended the scoring for both teams.
Andrew Smith got Nick Stotler to strike out looking to end the game.
