Lititz College Showcase
Great Job ladies at the Lititz College Showcase! The team played in the top bracket and had a very competitive weekend. Game 1 vs Penn Legacy Black the Pride scored as Anj sent a cross to newcomer Jenna Bowen, who remained composed and finished a well placed shot. Also new to the Pride, keeper Audrey Baldwin had a stellar game in goal. The Pride tied Penn Legacy 1-1. In the second game on Saturday, although the Pride didn't have one of their better games, they still played competitive against the STN Marauders and only lost 1-0.
Sunday was a better day for the Pride as the new defense got adjusted and played an excellent game. Newcomer Kayla Wagner anchored the defense as the new sweeper for the Pride, and Anj dropped back to secure the left fullback position, playing one of her best games. Senior Mollie Singer buried a shot from midfield to put the Pride on the scoreboard first. Ending her career with the Pride as she started, Allie Dant played left forward and scored off a through ball from Erin. The Gettysburg team scored on a corner kick, but the Pride wasn't done yet. With an all senior front line, Allie returned the favor and fed a through ball to Erin who put a solid finishing shot on the far post.

FREDERICK CUP RESULTS
The Pride had a sucessful weekend at the Frederick Cup Girls Premier Soccer Tournament. Great weather, and great competition! Even though the Pride was missing key players on Saturday, they played great, competitive soccer. The Pride tied the first game 1-1 as Anj had a nice run down the wing and sent a beautiful cross to Julie, who was waiting at the far post and ran the ball in with her body. In game two, the Pride got to play this year's Jefferson Cup Champs. They held the score at 1-1 until the final minutes of the game. Anj scored off a cross from Alyssa. In the final game on Sunday, the Pride gave a total team effort for the 1-0 win. Jackie and Ashley worked the give and go down the left side of the field. Jackie sent a perfect pass to the inside to Ashley who found the back of the net with a far post shot. Overall, a good weekend and great preparation for the College Showcase! Congratulations to the Pride players who were named game MVP's by the opposing team: Game 1- Anj, Game 2-Katie, Game 3-Meghan.

CRABKNOCKER SHOWCASE CHAMPIONS!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, ladies of the Pride on a fantastic win at the MAPS/MSSL Crabknocker Showcase at St Mary's College. What a great way to start out with our 2007-2008 roster!! Game 1 the Pride won a 1-0 game on an early goal by Taryn, assist, Kimmy. Game two was scoreless at the half and then goals came from three Pride players, Taryn, Lauren and Rachel, assists by Lauren, Brittany and Ashley. Game three, Lauren, Molly and Taryn scored to give the Pride a 3-1 win, with assists by Brit and Ashley. Three wins gave the Pride the points to go to the Championship game vs the Cherry Hill Crush. In a tight, physical game, the score remained 0-0 until late in the second half with 8 minutes remaining. Molly hit Lauren with a pass up the field, and Lauren put it away. Also of note was the perfect save by Alyssa as she denied the Crush a scoring opportunity on a loose ball in the box headed toward the goal. The Pride defense, Brittany, Chelsea, Kimmy, Allison, Alyssa and Becca allowed only one goal and the Pride midfield and offense scored 8 this weekend. Great job ladies!!!!

COLLEGE SHOWCASE
The Pride participated in the Kirkwood College Showcase. In their first international match, the Pride got to play a team from Canada that arrived on their own bus with 8 coaches. The Pride played well, however the Canadians came out on top 1-0. Second game, after lossing two players to injury in game one, the Pride took a loss vs the New Jersey State Champs. However, they rallied the second day and won 2-0 vs a team from New York. In her first game back with the Pride, Clorissa Jones put the Pride on the board. Lauren Ward sealed the win with a second goal. Allison Casola also had an assist. In the last game, the Pride defeated the Greater Harford Lightning Showcase team 3-1. Alyssa Anderson, a former Greater Harford player herself, put the Pride on the board on a fantastic one touch shot. The Lightning tied up the game with three minutes to play when the referee miscommunicated a restart of play. The Pride quickly answered back as Rachel Keeley knocked a shot home, assisted by Allison Casola. Not satisfied with one goal vs her old teammates, Alyssa Anderson capped off the game with another goal.

Pikesville Thanksgiving Classic Champions!
The Pride went undefeated in the Pikesville Thanksgiving Classic. In game one vs the D2 WAGS Bowie Magic, Cole and Crystal teamed up twice to deliver goals for the Pride. Th Pride was down 1-0 for the first time in a year, but they answered back quickly as Crystal sent a pass to Cole who hit the far post from a wicked angle. The half ended 1-1. The Pride struck shortly into the second half when Taryn dropped the ball back to Crystal, who lofted the ball over the Magic defense, leaving Cole to sprint to it and head the ball over the keeper. Late in the second half, Molly hit a direct kick over to Crystal, who struck a low line drive into the net to give the Pride a 3-1 win. In game two, Taryn and Cole teamed up to score one goal each, both goals off an assist from each other. Although the Pride had many scoring opportunities and dominated play in game three, they just could not finish and ended in a 0-0 tie. In the final game, Cole sent the ball up the field to Molly Taylor who finished a monster shot. To seal the win, Crystal sent a through pass to Cole who went one on one with the keeper, waited for her to commit, and shot far post. In an outstanding play, Kaylee Smith helped to keep the Pride win as she battled two Cougar forwards who broke free. Clash of the Cleats
The UCSC Pride participated in the Pepsi Clash of the Cleats in Lewistown, PA. In the first match on Saturday, the Pride played the MC United Black Tide, the undefeated division champions in the North Penn Soccer League. The Pride controlled the game from the kick off and continually harrassed the Black Tide defense which held strong throughout the first half. The Pride defensive unit of Jill Clark, Deanna Krauss, Eliza Burk, Kay Stover, Chelsea Stevens and Jamie Settle easily contained the Black Tide offense and allowed few shots on keeper Katie Stewart. With minutes left to play, the Pride's Nicole Dant launched a shot from the right that sailed over the keeper and into the net, giving the Pride a 1-0 victory. In game two on Saturday, the Pride battled the Mifflin County United Soccer Club (MCUSC). The Pride's midfield Candis Butler, Cynthia O'Neill, Katelyn Gibas, Crystal Stanley, Deanna Pierce and Katie Dant controlled the game and created offensive opportunities for the Pride. Midway through the first half, Pride midfielder Cynthia O'Neill threaded a powerful shot through an opening in the MCUSC defense, giving the Pride a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Hannah Ring displayed her footwork finesse as she dribbled through the MCUSC defense and placed the ball in the net. Keeper Katie Stewart made a spectacular save late in the second half to secure the Pride shutout. The Pride's final game on Sunday proved to be the toughest game of the tournament against the very large, physical, and aggressive Midd West Mustangs. The Pride needed the win or a tie to secure first place. The Pride took the early lead two minutes and 41 seconds into the game on a breakaway by Jamie Settle who went one on one with the Mustang keeper. Settle drew the keeper in, waited for her to commit, and tapped the ball neatly around her as she dove, leaving Settle to dribble the ball to an open goal. Nicole Dant scored just prior to the end of the first half to give the Pride a comfortable 2-0 lead. Minutes into the second half on a heavy offensive push, the Mustangs scored in traffic in front of the Pride goal. The Pride had their own offensive rally as Kirsten Stallone attempted to tuck the ball between the post and the keeper, blasting a shot that hit off the near post. Laura Ordos also got off a shot that just skimmed the crossbar. With time running out, the Mustangs finished a penalty kick to tie the game. The Pride defense held the Mustangs for the remaining minutes of the game, securing their first place finish.

SAND DUELS 2004 Ocean City, Maryland
Not only was Sand Duels 2004 a great success, it was a lot of fun! The Pride Freedom (Hannah, Kay, Crystal, Kerrie, Brittney, Charlotte, Lauren) and Pride Liberty (April, Tiffany, Katelyn, Molly, Kayleigh, Shannon, Kari) made a great showing at the tourney with Freedom placing 1st in their bracket and Liberty placing 2nd in their respective bracket. Hannah Ring was on fire for the Pride Freedom as she racked up a hat trick and then some. April gave Liberty two of their goals, one of them off a great chest trap. Then it came down to Pride vs. Pride in the semi's. Lots of shots were taken by both teams but goalies Brittney (Freedom) and Kari (Liberty) proved to be tough opponents. Crystal scored the game winner for Freedom, and Molly Chidester almost tied the game in the last few seconds but the shot was just after the whistle. The game ended in a 1-0 win for Freedom. For the second year in a row, the Pride advanced to the Championship game against the Waldorf Knights who proved to be just as tough as they were last year. The Waldorf Knights took 1st and the Freedom took 2nd. Special thanks to our guest players and former Pride members Lauren Weber and Katelyn Gibas.
