Lewis Lofton
The Founder and President has stated that:
“Building leadership in others greatly helps the community at large. There is a growing problem with teen depression, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, and gang affiliations, and we have to combat such problems through improved recreational or educational activities. Growing up as a youth/teen, I have been in just about every atmosphere of people imaginable. From city life, suburban life, rural life I have met and worked with a wide variety of people. I was the minority (black) person by today’s standards. I grew up primarily in suburban life. I have also lived and grew up in city life and the rural community. It isn’t necessary for me to be everywhere at one time to help people, but helping people, working with people is what drives me, it’s what kept me out of trouble – it’s what makes me go on. I love helping people learn more about the game of basketball. As individuals, we are always learning and growing. We all have to learn leadership, and how to get along with others. We all have something that we are good at no matter what, and developing leadership amongst people helps the greater community by forming a diverse group and leaders from all walks of life – in essence, people helping people to grow, learn, and live in the ever-changing society in which we all live.”
Coaching Philosophy:
In most organizations, we create a winning program by instilling a culture of aggressive and fundamentally sound defensive play. As an alternative, U.S.A., Inc. strives to develop each player’s skill levels consistent with their potential by teaching basic individual offensive and defensive fundamental skills. Develop team offensive tools to deflect defensive pressure anywhere on the court. Create exciting up-tempo sports games through aggressive full court pressure, a patterned offensive fast break, quick secondary break attacks that exploit defensive disorganization, and a well thought out offensive attack that utilizes the team’s strength by capitalizing on individual player strengths.
