Vacaville Bobby Sox Pre-Season Conditioning June Announcement

June 6, 2020

Dear Bobby Sox Families,

Welcome back! We are very excited to announce our intent and plan to resume with Pre-Season Conditioning under the guidance of our National Bobby Sox organization, the Solano County Health Office and the City of Vacaville.

Our Board has worked diligently with these organizations to draft a Return to Play plan that can now begin as early as Monday, June 15 with pre-season conditioning and small group practices. While we have been given the green light to proceed with this, as of now, we still do not have clearance for games. However, our Board is hopeful that this may follow in the next few weeks, as additional phased reopenings may occur.

As we have stated before, our plan all along was to move forward with a season even if it may look different. With that in mind, we hope that you all remain understanding and flexible as decisions and changes may continue to happen throughout the remainder of the season.

If you plan to continue to have your child play, you will be required to sign a Bobby Sox COVID19 Player Waiver. Please print the waiver here or from the Vacaville Bobby Sox website, complete, sign and turn in on one of the following dates, to the Board, at Nelson park between 5-7 PM each date: Monday, June 8, Tuesday, June 9 and Wednesday, June 10. Also, for rostered adults, please complete and turn in your Bobby Sox COVID19 Adult Waiver. A board member will be stationed at the front gates of Nelson Park. Due to social distancing measures, you will be able to drive through and a board member will collect your waiver from your car.

The Vacaville Bobby Sox website also includes our new Vacaville Bobby Sox Return to Play Plan with specific measures and safety precautions that all players, families and coaches must take in order to resume pre-season conditioning. Be sure to read these requirements and guidelines carefully and understand what is expected of you and your player (i.e. social distancing, assessment of player’s health, no shared equipment, no spectators at conditioning, etc.)

After we receive all waivers from all players, we will announce a Pre-Season Conditioning Schedule. You will be provided this schedule directly from your team manager. As we move closer towards a season, please note that we may need to rearrange teams and/or coaching staff, depending on how many players return for the season.

As you may have seen via our Facebook page, website or your team GroupMe, we will be holding Virtual Bingo Nights throughout June and July to raise funds from the raffle baskets donated for Opening Ceremonies (valued at $100, minimum, each). For more information, check our Facebook page and our website for details on events, cost to participate, and payment options.

Lastly, our Board is beyond ecstatic to finally see our season come to fruition and get our girls playing softball! We hope that our families will continue to support us as we navigate our softball season under the guidance of the ever changing and loosening Shelter at Home Order still in place in Solano County Health.

Let’s play ball!

Vacaville Bobby Sox Season Still Suspended & Family Survey May Announcement

May 13, 2020

Dear Bobby Sox Families,

As you are all probably aware, Solano County has extended the Shelter at Home order until May 17, 2020.  We recently spoke with our National Director Kym Rohlf and she has confirmed that their intention is to still have a full season, as soon as the Shelter at Home order is lifted and/or modified to allow for outdoor youth sports. “...our intentions are to move forward once things open up again...there will likely be restrictions as to how we do it, but our young ladies will need an outlet and we can give it to them”, Kym Rohlf, Bobby Sox Nationals Director.

The Vacaville Bobby Sox Board is working on our plan to move forward with a season - although it may look different. We are drafting a plan for some new safety procedures to include social distancing with coaches, players, fans, hand and equipment sanitization, and dugout and park procedures.

We have requested a meeting with the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation department and plan to present our safety plan to them, in the hopes of getting a reopening schedule from them and ensure our field allocations beyond June for a potential Summer or early Fall season.

With this in mind, we would like to know all the player’s availability for playing a potential summer or fall season (in place of the spring season suspended due to COVID-19). Family members should receive the link via email and/or via their GroupMe from their Manager. Please take the time to fill out the survey to help us make this season successful! [Survey link:  https://forms.gle/HQrgiMS6Kj6BmsCg7

For Opening Ceremonies each team provided a basket valued at $100 for a raffle. All of these baskets have been inventoried and pictures taken of their contents (there are some very exciting items in these baskets!). Our Fundraising Coordinator is currently working on a plan to raffle and auction the baskets online. We will update you as soon as we have more details.

Lastly, our Board continues to wish all our families wellness and safety during this time. Keep practicing your softball skills girls -- we are trying our hardest to get you all a season and back out on the field!

Vacaville Bobby Sox Season Still Suspended April Announcement

April 17, 2020

Vacaville Bobby Sox

Season Still Suspended

April Announcement

Dear Bobby Sox Families,

As we all continue to ‘Shelter at Home’ during the COVID-19 health emergency, the Vacaville Bobby Sox Board has continued to have discussions about the potential for a softball season. We are most concerned with the health and safety of all of our players and their families.

Many of you have either contacted the board or your manager directly with questions you’ve had about the 2020 Season. We are all living in the unknown, which makes making decisions very difficult. We apologize that we just don’t have answers yet about resuming our 2020 Season, as we await news for the State orders to be lifted. However, we hope to stay in contact with you all each month as the information about the coronavirus, sheltering at home, and social distancing continues to evolve. At all times, we will follow the direction and guidance of the Solano County Public Health Department, the City of Vacaville and our National Bobby Sox Organization.

What we can communicate as a Board about the 2020 Season:

  • the season is still suspended - not cancelled. We hope to resume our season once the Stay at Home order is lifted.
  • we will not issue any refunds because expenses for the season  have been paid such as field rentals, uniforms, insurance, equipment and field prep supplies.

Should the Shelter at Home order be extended, please trust that our Board will be discussing next steps and communicating what families can expect from our league. Should the shelter at home order be lifted by April 30 or earlier than stated, please believe that our Board will be doing everything in our power to ensure our 2020 Season runs smoothly. We, along with our National Bobby Sox organization, still have hope of holding a season for our players and provide them the opportunity to play softball. We are still very much looking forward to having a season, even if it may look different than we imagined or planned for. We are eager for our girls and young women to play softball!

We hope that all of our players and their families are taking this time and opportunity to continue to practice their softball skills while sheltering at home or social distancing. Please stay safe and healthy!
