2016 Season Preview

The 2016 season will get under way on Sunday and here is the preview for all 18 teams.

2 in the Pink-

Clay Martin is back at it for the 3rd year and first as a captain. He hit an impressive .622 last year with 29 bombs and threw the lone perfect game of the season. He will lead, rookie Brett Smiley, reigning champion Hunter Behling, and Ian Hess who played last year but in only 6 games. Attendance could be the factor for this team to become great instead of average.

Ball Busters-

Tim Marra will lead the crew of 4 into the 2016 season coming off a successful rookie season, hitting .614. Matt Mish, Chandler Palyas, a rookie lefty with speed and power, and Brooks Rikeman, who was among the leaders in hitting before getting drop by the Dodgers last year, round out the roster. This team is talented and has the potential to hang with the top teams.

Ball Park Brawlers-

Some say the Brawlers will be the best, others opinions differ. Ball Park definitely has the capability to be atop of the standings, as Jordan Castelli, who hit .610 with 56 home runs last year and was the Silver Slugger and to add to his accolades he was MVP in 2014, will lead the team. Austin Berger, who hit .635 and was the leagues MVP in 2015, Mike Graziani, who was the leagues Cy Young and Batting Average leader with a .658 AVG last year and also won the Championshi, and Rob Licht, who hit .614 last season, will join Castelli in the quest for gold. The Brawlers will be a game that every other team has big circle around on their schedule.

Beavers-

Adam Carosone is back at it for the 4th year and will take the reigns of the Beavers for the second straight year. The Beavers return the same roster plus one as last years Eastern Division Champion team. The plus one is rookie southpaw Cal Wilson who could be a key factor in helping the Beavers make it back to the Championship this year. Returning players include Greyden Piechnick, a powerful left hander who hit .623 last year, Greg Siller and Zach Faigley. This team just finds ways to win in the moment. Only time will tell if this squad has it in them to make a very deep run in the playoffs for a consecutive year.

Bomb Squad Bombers-

Brandon Kline will lead Nick Drake, a reigning W.I.L.L Champion, along with rookies Corey Didier and Brycen Virgili. Didier made an appearance for one day in the F.W.I.L.L and did well. This team has four quality baseball players but can they do the same in the plastic version of that?

Booze on First-

Jared Beach, the reigning Gold Glove award winner, will join Tanner Piechnick and Josh Palma on the squad led by Jacob Davey. Beach and Davey both hit over .610 last year. This team is an offensive powerhouse, but only one pitcher could be the only possible downfall for this team.

CBG Doughboys-

Ed Cottrill was a late pick up last year and had 14 home runs, this year he is back and will lead the CBG Doughboys into their first year of competition. The roster of 4 includes 3 rookies, Shane Danyo, Zach Rohaley and Nick Sodini. The Doughboys have speed, power, and pitching they could be hard to beat if it all comes together.

Dodgers Wiffleball Club-

Ryan Clendaniel brings the Dodgers back for the 3rd year in a row. The roster of 4 includes Luke Palma, who received the Gold Glove in 2014 and hit .585 in 2015, Dillon O'Doneghue, and Josh O'Hare. The Dodgers will try and bounce back from a disappointing season last year in which they lost in the Wild Card game. They will try and bring back the fire they had in 2014, where they finished the regular season in 1st place. Which Dodger team will show up in 2016?

Flow Bros-

Hockey League? If that were the case this team would be the for sure favorites. Jack Clendaniel will head Nick Kiger, Jake McClelland, and Christian Stewart into the 2016 W.I.L.L. Clendaniel played in the 2013 season for half the year and was on the 5 and 20 Seton Hall squad. Their hand eye coordination from hockey could help them, when it comes to hitting. Some teams could overlook them and be caught by surprise.

Hanger Bangers-

Dylan Coyle, is a another former Mariner to go out on his own and start a team himself. He acquired Cam Walker, a rookie who excelled in the F.W.I.L.L, the question is, will he be able to do the same in the quest for 1K? Nick Serafino was a standout player last year but often times got overshadowed by Home Run King Trainor, will also join the team. Veteran Justin Galati, who lead the dissolved Morning Woodsman to a Championship last season, rounds out the talented roster. All 3 of the returning players combined for 70 home runs and had a combined average of .547 last year. This team has all the tools to make a run for the Championship.

How You Love Dat-

Football star Bryan Milligan will be the captain for this team that includes Dillon O'Doneghue, Jordan Camp, and Nate Healy. O'Doneghue is the only non-rookie on the team and hit .385 last year for the Dodgers. Camp has limited wiff experience, as he played in the Winter W.I.L.L Tournament. This team is very athleti, but do they have what it takes for Wiffle Ball?

Minority Power-

This is another all rookie team. Alec Robinson will lead Connor Coleman, Alex Ablak, Christian Snatchko, and Kionte Davis. Coleman, is a 4 year starter on the High School baseball team and will look to do just as well on the wiff diamond. No one really knows how talented this team is and they could be a big surprise.

Peacocks-

Ben Hammers will head a squad for the second straight year. This year he will lead Connor Flaherty, Ethan Beachy, Mike Trax, and his brother Alex Hammers. The elder Hammers was a late sign and could be a key factor, as he hit .778 last year, even though he only had 9 at bats. Mike Trax had an outstanding fall, will he be able to repeat in the summer? Trax is also one of the best defenders in the league. Beachy and Flaherty will contribute timely hitting and quality pitching. If this team puts it all together, they could be the Cinderella story of 2016.

Power-

This team is filled with rookies. Jacob Livolsi will lead the squad that will include Fred Lochner and Caleb Nestor. They will have to battle each and every game. Caleb Nestor is a power hitting lefty and Livolsi could get in the heads of opposing players, which could be a difference maker.

Rubber Ducks-

Steven Keelon will bring his experienced but rookie team into the 2016 W.I.L.L. This team is filled with rookies, Nick Gregory and Dom Petrillo. Alec Hannen, a second year player who hit .484 last year rounds out the roster. This team gained experience by playing in the F.W.I.L.L and the Winter W.I.L.L Tournamen. In the F.W.I.L.L they defeated defending W.I.L.L Champs, the Morning Woodsman, in the playoffs, and some say that is what caused the break up. If this team gets hot at the right time, they could make a playoff run.

Team-

Tom James brings back Team for its second year of competition. Some roster changes were made in the off season, as they acquired Regis Narin and lost Nick Serafino and Ian Hess. The team kept George Carson. Reigning Rookie of the Year and Home Run King Jake Trainor, who had the ability to change the game with one swing, is also back on the roster. Team made it to the semifinals last year, but do they have what it takes to take that one extra step?

The 5 Muchachos-

The amigos have expanded and will have 5 on the roster this year. Jordan Smith will lead Dom Eannace, Jesse Marra, Josh Clopp, and rookie Andrew Rust. Smith had an impressive rookie year last year and hit .524. Eannace was the Cy Young in 2014, but was off and on in 2015, which Eannace shows up could be the difference maker from being an average team to a top seed. Marra, Clopp, and Rust will have to do some timely hitting and show that they can hang with the best.

Wet Mouth-

Nate Morris will take the reigns of his team for the 3rd straight year. His experience as a captain could pay off in close games. Basketball stars Britton Beachy, RJ Bell, and Carson Miller round out the roster, along with Robert Baker. Baker will make limited appearances, but when he does this team will be a lot better. Everyone is a rookie, except for the captain and Bell (only played in 5 games last year) and that inexperience could show in close games. Bell, Beachy, and Miller all did play baseball up until about middle school. They could be a suprise team if attendance is good and they are clicking on all cylinders.
