UPDATES FROM THE NATIONALS IN BROKEN ARROW!!!!
July 11, 2007 - 07:00 AM --
Game 1:
The Lynx opened up bracket play today with a very tough 4-3 loss to the NT Longhorns. The Horns jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a ball was "lost in the sun" in the infeld and it was followed up wth a double. Gabe Sweat held the Longhorns scoreless and in the 4th inning Tommy Hayden's bases loaded, 2 out shot got by the outfielder and plated 3 runs. The Longhorns came back in the bottom of the 4th with 1 run on a throwing error by the Lynx. The Horns continued to chip-away as they got a runner on base in the 5th and moved him around to tie the score at 3. In the bottom of the 6th after a ground ball error, the Horns moved another runner to 2nd and he scored on an outfield hit. The Lynx Bats were unable to respond and the Lynx were sent to the losers bracket early in Tulsa. The Longhorns pitcher was tough as he pitched a complete game 3 hitter.
Game 2:
The Lynx face the Lubbock Storm in the 2nd game and it was another nail-biter. The Storm jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after a 2-out walk, 2 stolen bases and a base hit in the first inning. They got 2 more in the 3rd after an error, a walk and a passed ball followed by a hit. Theiir fnal run came in the 4th. In the top of the 5th, the Lynx managed a mild 3 run rally to close the gap but the hard-throwing southpaw from Lubbock was too much and he completed the game in the 7th for another 4-3 loss for the Lynx. Alex Pesina put on another fantastic pitching effort in the loss givng up only 1 earned run.
