CLEAN WATER HONOLULU
The Adopt-A-Stream program integrates not only Mayor Mufi Hannemann’s concept of the 21st Century Ahupua`a, but also requirements under the City’s Storm Water Management Program to further reduce the amounts of pollutants entering our storm drain system. Adopt-A-Stream, sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu Department of Environmental Services Storm Water Quality Branch, is a simple step that residents can take to help improve the quality of streams and be everyday environmental heros. The program is a “hands-on” way for residents and local businesses to make a commitment to keep our city clean and improve the quality and condition of Oahu’s communities by keeping pollutants off of City roads and connected waterbodies.

THE CASTLE FOUNDATION
In addition to engaging youth in community service, one of the primary goals of this small grants program is to help youth build their leadership skills. Although parents, coaches and teachers may provide guidance, the projects must be youth-driven.
