    About the Certification

Mid America Pop Warner, which includes, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, N. Dakota, S. Dakota and Minnesota, and seeks to provide fun athletic learning opportunities for children, while emphasizing the importance of academic success.

Welcome to the Mid America Pop Warner Region On-line Training

Welcome and congratulations on being a Pop Warner volunteer. Mid-America Pop Warner firmly believes that all of our training programs are vitally important for volunteers who serve in leadership positions. All of our training programs are designed to allow our volunteer coaches and administrators to take on bigger and greater challenges.

Universally, volunteers are the backbone of any non-profit organization. Volunteers who are properly trained and supported can strengthen their program and expand the work they are able to do in their community and more likely to volunteer again. Rest assured your selfless contribution of time and energy in your community does not go unnoticed.

This on-line educational training is considered the minimum training for football and dance coaches. Cheerleading coaches will also need to attend a local hands-on clinic to meet coaching requirements.

The fundamental reason why we require coaches training is to minimize the risk to you as a Pop Warner Coach and most importantly for the participants who are in your direct care.

This training covers all aspects of risk management. Good risk management practices improve Pop Warner’s ability to achieve outcomes, protect assets, reduce the risk of undesirable and costly litigation, and improve the viability of the organization.

Unfortunately, there are some coaches who forget that children are all about having fun. If the experience is not enjoyable to them, then they will not return. Pop Warner can be fun and instructional at the same time. It’s up to you to ensure that all of the participants on your team have the same opportunity to learn and have fun.

As a Pop Warner Coach you are required to provide a safe environment that is structured for all participants. No activity should be undertaken without ensuring maximum safety of the participants. All activities should be designed to provide each child an equal opportunity to participate.

As a coach you need to be proactive in pointing out that Pop Warner does not discriminate for any reason. Coaches should inspire all kids on their team regardless of their race, creed, religion or national origin.

Our basic, overall goal is to give these young men and women the skills that they will need throughout their lives. These important life skills must all be a part of the experience. Practice the ideals of fellowship, sportsmanship, scholastics, and physical fitness. Teach lessons of value in self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

Because children are naturally curious and observant, coaches and administrators must lead by example. You are role models for each participant inside and outside of Pop Warner. Your influence will remain with these children throughout their lives. Provide each one an opportunity to participate in an organized environment that places emphasis on maximum safety and participation.

Good luck and we hope to see you in the regional playoffs.
