Varsity Coach Brian Domenico
BRIAN DOMENICO (Varsity)
Coach Brian Domenico, President & founder of the International High School “Power Showcase” Home Run Derby & owner & operator of Brian Domenico's "Game Face'" Baseball Camps, Inc. (a summer baseball program for players interested in improving not only their physical skills, but also their mindset toward the game), is employed concurrently as the behavior interventionist at Olympic Heights High School and as the head varsity baseball coach.
Domenico played professionally with the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Jackson Diamondkats, and most recently, the Long Island Ducks organizations. In 2001, Domenico's first year coaching the Lions, he became Boca-Delray "Coach of the Year" and led the team to the regional play-offs. Similarly, in 1997, as head varsity baseball coach at All-Star Academy (now American Heritage), Domenico led the Stallions in their inaugural season to a district championship and a regional quarter-final play-off berth.
Domenico's unique teaching and coaching philosophy integrates both the physical fundamentals with the often-neglected mental aspect of the game. Having experienced baseball at the professional level throughout his late teens and twenties and taught sports psychology at American Heritage prior to his move to Olympic Heights High School, Coach Domenico values the importance of teaching the athlete to recognize his potential as both an individual and a competitor.
Entering his sixth year with the Lions, Domenico is proud of his team's past season, in which he led them to their first regional championship play-off game, the first in the program's history. Once again, Domenico was honored as being "Coach of the Year." His professional career highlights include pitching the winning final game of the Rookie League World Series for the Oakland Athletics in 1993 and earning two championship rings.
