ZONED SPORTS ACADEMY TIP OF THE MONTH (September 2005)

The Double Play Feed
I love turning double plays and when you are the player on the front side of the double play the feed is the most important part of a double play.

Our job as infielders is to first get one out... and then the second out. If I can give a good feed to the base, it will be a lot easier to turn the double play.

When feeding the ball to the bag you want to make sure that the glove is cleared from the vision from the ball. This will give the person turning the double play good vision to then recieve the baseball. Too many times I see the person flipping the ball, bring the glove up and the ball up at the same time creating a shield to your partner So Remember, always clear the glove from the ball for better double play feeds.
