BRIEF SWINGERS HISTORY

1999: The Wiffle Dodgers (now the Swingers) played in their first FastPitch Tournament, the "Summer Showdown". John 30 at the time & Jerry 26 hadn't played fastpitch wiffle in 10 years and Anthony just turned 14 . I would say for our first time playing in a fastpitch wiffle tournament we did ok. In our first game we played a ranked team called the "Clifton Yankees" They finished 3rd the year before we beat them 6-2, Anthony came up big with a game winning granny in the bottom of the 6th. We played well over the two days but we were very inexperienced and didn't conserve our pitching, we ended up losing a game after leading 9-0, final score was 12-10(forgot the team) We did play one Wiffle-Up Losing to ITB 5-3.

2000:We played in two tournaments, the SS & Wiffle-Up . We played well in both. WU we finished 3rd losing a classic game to SOM, 2-1. The SS we played great over the two days and finished 5th losing to the eventual champs Trenton Shockers 3-2.

2001: Played in three tournaments, the SS & two Wiffle-Up. In the first WU we finished 5th losing to Wood N Bats 1-0 & the second Wiffle-Up we finished 8th losing to the Trenton Giants & the SS again 5th losing to In The Box.

2002:The Swingers didn't play this year

2003: We came back and won the SS beating the Trenton Giants 11-10. Jerry had a monster game with 10 RBI. Two classic games were played against SOM as well in that tournament. We also played in our first FP tournament. We won that by beating the Longshotz 4-3 . In the FP Playoffs we played well but suffered a tough loss to the Lakeside Kings. All in all it was a solid year for us. total record 19-6 includes SS,FP,WU

2004: We played in the SS again finishing 2nd losing to ITB. We also won a FP tournament and placed second in another. In the FP Playoffs we played the Trenton Giants beating them 8-0 and taking the NJ FP Title. Lastly, we flew to TX and Won the National Wiffleball Championship going 9-0. Thus far we are the only team that has gone undefeated at Nationals. We ended the season with a 20 game win streak & went 28-3 on the season.

2005: Injury filled year with Jerry & John's arm problems. We still managed to finish 2nd in the NJ playoffs losing a tough game to the Mud Ducks. Without a doubt its the loss that hurts the most out of all of these years(for a variety of reasons). Went down to Texas to defend the title but unfortunately we fell short. We finished in 15th Place. We would have loved to repeat as National Champs but the key to winning in this league is pitching and we were short on that for 2005. Finished the year with a 23-9 Record

2006: Jerry's arm wasnt healing as a result we went out and signed Fred "The Hammer" Bastedo on the spot when his team failed to show at the first NJQ. His bat was a solid fill in for Jerry who didnt play much in '06 but ultimately our pitching cost us any chance of making a run. Finished the year with a 10-7 Record. The Swingers, by choice, decided not to participate at the ’06 NCT

2007: We Played in Four NJQ's. Finished 2nd and 3rd in two of those. Also finished 3rd in the Wiffle-Up World Finals. Played some great wiffle down the stretch and felt as if our game was getting back to where it once was and where it needs to be...Finished the year with a 15-6 record , The Swingers, by choice, decided not to participate at the ’07 NCT . '08 is far away but we will be back and ready to make a serious run...Guarenteed

2008: John & Anthony played most of the year as a 2 man team going 17-2 in the regular season. We won one NJQ and finished 2nd in another. The Swingers also won their 2nd Summer Showdown in Trenton NJ. Jerry returned to play with us in TX and we had a great time but not playing as a full squad all year hurt us . Swingers Finished 19th

2009:Summer Showdown Champs

2010: With the end of the Fast Plastic League the Greatest Wiffle Ball team ever the Swingers Retired from Competitive League Play.
