    MASSAPEQUA POWER TRYOUTS

    Girls Premier U17 Massapequa Power Tryouts:
    June 24 & 25 8 PM @ Burns Park

    The Massapequa Power resume includes ENY State Championships in the U10-U14 ages, and runner-ups at the U15 level. The team played in the highly competitive Region 1 Premiere League, and will be looking to return to Region 1 league play or compete in the North East Regional Premier. The team will continue to (and has attended) many of the college showcase tournaments, such as WAGS, Raleigh Shootout, Disney, Jefferson Cup, and PDA among others. The team will also seek to showcase players talent by scrimmaging local and regional colleges throughout the season.This highly competitive team is looking for committed elite players who wish to compete at the highest level and showcase their talent to top colleges around the country.

    The team is coached by former National Team player Kim Wyant. She holds a USSF coaching license as well as the NSCAA Advanced National diploma and has college coaching experience at the DI & DII levels. She has helped countless players achieve scholarship and playing opportunities at colleges across the country for the past 20 years. Kim was recently honored at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2007, receiving the 'Special Recognition Award' for her contribution to the winning ways of the Women's National Team. She was also inducted into the USL Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003 for her achievements with the Long Island Lady Riders as a player, coach and general manager.

    Kim Wyant

    Kim Wyant has the distinction of being the first Goalkeeper for the US Women’s National Team appearing in the inaugural US game in Italy in 1985. She has played 16 international games as the US Goalkeeper, and is forever in the soccer history books of US Soccer for appearing as the first US goalkeeper and recording the first ever shutout.

    In 2008, Kim was given the ‘Special Recognition Award’ by the National Soccer Hall of Fame honoring her contribution to the winning way of the Women’s National Team.

    The Long Island resident is the Long Island Lady Riders all-time leader in minutes played with 8,636 minutes during nine seasons, and second all time in games played with 99.

    She fortified the defense in leading Long Island to W-League National Championships in 1995 and 1997 and an improbable 2-0 victory over the Brazilian Women's National Team in 1999. During her career with the Lady Riders she was the dominate goalkeeper of the
    W-League, winning Goalkeeper of The Year Honors four consecutive years- 1995, 96, 97, and 98. She was also honored as the Most Valuable Player for her performance in the 1997 Championship series, and has twice been selected as a W-league All Star.

    Shortly after announcing her retirement in August of 2003 Kim was named General Manager of the Lady Riders. Prior to her promotion, Kim implemented the teams very successful camps and youth academy. Under her direction the Lady Riders twice received the USL W-League ‘Organization of the Year’ awarded annually to the top USL organization displaying excellence both on and off the field. Kim also served as the team interim coach during the 2002 season, leading the team to an 11-1-1 record. In 2004, Kim was inducted into the United Soccer League’s Soccer Hall of Fame.

    Kim served as the head coach for Florida Atlantic University’s women’s soccer team from 1995 through 1998, and Dowling College from 2003-2006. She exited college coaching to pursue interest in youth soccer.

    In 1998 Kim served as a FIFA Staff Coach in Trinidad, where she instructed National team coaches from the CONCACAF region on the modern demands of goalkeeping. Kim is the creator and founder of Above All Goalkeeping camps, and is widely regarded as one of the top goalkeeper coaches in the Southeast.

    In 1982 Kim appeared in the first NCAA National Soccer Championship as a scholarship member of The University of Central Florida. She was named the Most Valuable Player of the National Championship tournament, where her team finished as the runner-ups. Kim holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

    Kim is a US Soccer licensed coach and holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. She has served as a clinician for many soccer organizations, and has published articles in various newsletters and publications. She is also the proud parent of Alexandra Kimberly, and Danielle Marie.
