New Midway Park Improvements
The 2008 Midway Athletic Club Board of Directors is proud to announce numerous additions to our park. With the help and hard work from our Ball-Drop fundraiser we have been able to fund and add numerous upgrades to Midway Park. None of these upgrades could have been accomplished without everyones support. A great big "THANK YOU" to you all for making this possible. These upgrades include:
2 - Brand new batting cages 1 for the upper fields and 1 for the lower fields
6 - Brand new pitching bullpens to serve all of our age groups
6 - New Dugout covers for fields 1, 2 and 3
14 - ball/helmet organizers for each dugout in Midway Park
4 - Brand new astro turf batting cage hitting mats
More improvements will be updated as they are completed
THANKS FOR MAKING THIS A GREAT PLACE FOR OUR KIDS TO PLAY!!!!!
Midway Park / Coaches Survey
To help improve Midway Park the 2008 Board of Directors has created a overview park survey. Please take the time to complete this and give your feedback. Look at the menu to your left. Click on Park survey and complete!! Thanks!!!
Great 2008 Season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have had a great season at Midway Park. Thanks for all of your time and hard work. The fundraising money is already going to work. We have already finished our dugout covers on fields #1, #2 and #3!! New dugout organizers have been added to every dugout in the park. These will not break and sure beat the plastic bat racks we use to have. More additions to the park are in the works.
Thanks to all of our coaches and parents that have made the effort to be involved in our childrens lives. We could not accomplish anything without these folks. We look forward to a great close to the season and an even better season in 2009!!

New Travel Baseball/Softball Policy
TRAVEL BALL COACH SELECTION
Criteria to be travel ball head coach:
1. Applicant must have two years head coaching experience.
2. Applicant must be currently in good standing with the County and the Association.
3. All recreational league coaching requirements apply.
4. References from parents should be readily available if requested by the Travel Ball Committee.
5. Coach must fill team with at least 70% of the players coming from Midway Park. This is a goal, and it is discretionary by the Committee.
6. The Coach must agree to abide by, and will be held accountable to, the Forsyth County and Midway Athletic Association’s code of conduct and sportsmanship, and the Forsyth County Travel Ball Policies.
7. The Coach must agree to compete at the highest level his team can reasonably compete in, and to continue to challenge the team to play to higher levels.
8. The Coach agrees that participation in the USSSA Slugfest and the Atlanta USSSA Super NIT is mandatory.
9. The team will play under Midway Park colors and use Midway Park as part of the team’s name.
10. The Coach agrees that the Midway Park Athletic Association reserves the right to alter requirements at it’s discretion, and that the Association also reserves the right to remove head coach or assistant coaches if deemed necessary.
Committee:
1. Committee to be made up of three current board members, at the time of team formation.
2. Committee will vary, depending on age group of team in question.
a. President
b. Travel ball director
c. Age group director for that particular age
3. If one committee member falls under two roles, an additional member would be added, depending on the hierarchy of the board. For example, if the President were also the 10 year old age director, he would serve on the committee as the 10 year old age director. The Vice-President would then serve as President, only for the purpose of that particular selection process.
4. A committee member cannot have a conflict of interest. For example, if that committee member is petitioning to be the head coach, he will be replaced by the next person on the board.
Coach Selection:
1. Potential coach will apply by requesting an interview to the appropriate age director.
2. The Committee will determine if the applicant meets the criteria, and if so, will schedule an interview.
3. The Committee will vote on the applicants and notify all of the decision.

FIELD STATUS ALERTS
Tired of trying to call the rain out line to check on field status when there is inclimate weather? Now you don’t have too………
This season, when the county closes fields, in addition to the rain out line, they will use a website to communicate current field status information. As the field status changes, it will be updated instnatly. For members who have joined the StatusMe network, members are alerted instantly both via emails and cellular text messages (charges may apply from your cell phone provider).
The best part is that it’s FREE to join the network.
Club members can receive instant electronic communications (email and/or cellular text messaging) when the field status changes (i.e. Opened or Closed) for their selected clubs. Members no longer have to constantly check club websites and weather hotlines for the latest information. Information comes to them when it changes.
The current field status will also be displayed on the home page of our park website at www.midwaypark.org.
Joining is simple following these instructions…………….
1. go to www.statusme.com
2. click on the “join now” button to register as a new user.
3. enter the required information and click on the register button
4. follow the instructions in step 1 to set up your text messaging and email
5. follow the instructions in step 2 to join a club – the club you want to select from the list is Forsyth County Baseball/Softball. Once selected, click the submit button
6. once submitted, click on the “next” button at the top of the page
7. lastly, you’ll need to join the club for Baseball Fields by clicking the “join” link in the section titled “Your clubs”
8. click on “done” at the top of the page
9. you’ll now receive the type of notice(s) that you selected when the field status changes
Please note that because many of the age groups play or practice at more than one park, we did not set up the notices to be delivered by individual park. Otherwise, parents would have had to join a club for each park in order to get the field status for parks other than their home park. By having one notice, we can cover all fields at all parks with one notice.
