Milton YellowJackets Baseball



The first meeting for this years Florida trip will be held Monday, September  29 at 6:30pm in the high school music room. All players in grades 10 -12 interested in going to Florida this year should plan to attend

Several Milton baseball players have been honored for outstanding play by the Colchester Cannons legion baseball program. Bryan Geary was selected team MVP, Junior Matt Goulet was named Rookie of the Year and Senior Jeremy Peet  was named Gold Glove winner for the 2008 season. Goulet and Peet will be mainstays again this season for the 'Jackets, Geary has moved on to Skidmore College where he is a member of the baseball team. All three will return to the Cannons for the 2009 season.

'Jackets season ends in semi's with 2-0 loss to Mt Abe.

Goulet's Gem leads Milton over Seahorses
Sophomore Matt Goulet scattered 6 hits over 62/3 innings as the Yellowjackets beat the previously undefeated Burlington Seahorses Thursday afternoon at Milton High School. Goulet struck out 3 walking only one as he picked up third victory of the season. Bryan Geary recorded the final out to pick up his first save of the year. Kyle McRae led the 'Jacket offense with 3 singles and a run scored. Jeremy Peet and Corey Hurley had 2 hits a pieces while Bryan Geary, Joe Emery and Matt Goulet each drove in a run for 4-1 Milton. The 'Jackets will travel to St. Johnsbury Saturday for a 2pm game against the Hilltoppers




'Jackets roll over Spartans 13-2
In their first game since returning from Florida the Yellowjackets beat the Winooski Spartans 13-2 Saturday morning at Hawthorne Field. The 'Jackets scored 3 runs in the 1st inning and never looked back as they improved to 3-1 on the season. Alex Duchesneau pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 4 walks and striking out 3 to pick up his first win of the year. Corey Hurley relieved in the 6th and retired the only four batters he faced. Joe Emery had 4 hits, including a double and a triple to drive in 4 runs. Jeremy Peet had 3 hits and 3 RBI, Bryan Geary knocked in 2 runs on a double and a walk, Mike Thompson had 2 hits and Mike Mullins had his first 2 varsity hits.


'Jackets blank Tigers in Florida
Milton rebounded from it's loss to Mt. Abe with a 6-0 shutout of the Middlebury Tigers in Cocoa, FL. Matt Goulet was the starting and winning pitcher for the 'Jackets. Goulet pitched 5 innings allowing only 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4. Bryan Geary pitched the final 2 innings for Milton. Milton was led on offense by Corey Hurley's 3 hit day at the plate. Bryan Geary had 2 hits and an RBI for the 'Jackets. Jeremy Peet, Mike Thompson and Matt Goulet also had RBIs for the 2-1 Yellowjackets. Milton will return to Vermont on Wednesday and takes on long time rival Winooski Saturday at 11am at Hawthorne Field

Eagles beat 'Jackets 8-1 in Cocoa, FL
Cocoa, FL - Milton took on a talented Mt Abraham team today in the Metro League opener for both teams. The 'Jackets came up on the short end of an 8-1 score as the Eagles used 12 hits to plate 8 runs. Greg Lutton threw a complete game four hitter for Mt Abe, 2-0. Corey Hurley took the loss for the 1-1'Jackets. Milton will play Middlebury , Tuesday morning before heading back home to Vermont.

Jackets open with 12-3 win over Harwood
The Yellowjackets opened the 2008 season with a 12-3 win over Harwood Tuesday at Milton High School. The 'Jackets fell behind 2-0 to start the game, but 4 runs in the 4th and 7 in the 5th inning put the game away. Joe Emery had 3 hits, Bryan Geary had 2 hits and 2 RBIs, Corey Hurley knocked in 2 runs on a hit and Sophomore Anthony Campbell, playing his first varsity game, knocked in 3 runs with a base hit and a sacrifice fly. he 'Jackets will play Mt Abraham Saturday morning in Cocoa, FL


Notice to all Milton baseball coaches, players, parents and fans. When attending any Milton baseball game or practice please do not park in the dirt lot behind the baseball field. It is private property and we have been asked to stay out. Please park in the main high school parking lot. Your help with this issue is greatly appreciated.


Senior Bryan Geary has been accepted at Skidmore College in Saratoga, NY. Geary, a middle infielder, will be a member of the Thoroughbred's baseball team. Skidmore is a NCAA Division 3 program and plays in the Liberty League
