Affiliated Professional Coaches
Players develop best when exposed to professional training. Abington Soccer has spent two decades developing close working relationships with some of NEPA's most distinguished soccer coaches and professional trainers. This is why when it comes to the task of advanced skill development, many people believe that "nobody does it better" than Abington. We feel that no other club in our area has better or more experienced professionals working with their players than we do.
Stephen Klingman - a former professional soccer player, Klingman spent 22 years as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at the University of Scranton, where he led that program to national prominence; his Scranton teams made 4 separate "Final Four" appearances in the NCAA Division III National Tournament, collecting the 2nd place trophy twice; winner of local coaching awards, he was also recognized as the "Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware Coach of the Year"; during his career he compiled a remarkable 324 victories, while posting an impressive .736 winning percentage; a great teacher of the game, he developed 10 different NCAA Division III All-American players; Klingman's distinguished coaching record has earned him a spot on the University of Scranton's prestigious "Wall of Fame."
Roger Jacobs - a name synonmous with soccer education in this region, Roger is respected by other soccer coaches for both his intricate knowledge of the game and his strong commitment to developing youth players; he logged 17 impressive years as Head Men's Soccer Coach at Baptist Bible College, where he won over 200 games and led the program to 4 national championships in the National Christian Colleges Athletic Association; he has developed 28 All-American players; he was voted NCCAA "National Coach of the Year" three times; widely-known for his popular Big Blue Soccer Camp, he is presently a Director of Soccer Development at Riverfront Sports Complex where he conducts special training sessions for our teams.
Matt Pivirotto - current Head Men's Soccer Coach at the University of Scranton, Pivirotto was voted 2006 Freedom Conference Coach of the Year; in eight years at the helm, he has already taken his teams to the post-season on multiple occasions and last season compiled 11 wins while earning for his team the #1 seed in the conference playoffs; he has a wealth of soccer knowledge and tremendous love for the game; as a player, Matt enjoyed a record-setting career both in high school(where he scored 77 goals) and later on at the collegiate level; a perennial all-star in college, he was voted the Middle Atlantic Conference "Player of the Year" in 1996, when he finished the season as the all-time scoring leader at Lycoming College.
Brian Marshall - a former professional soccer player, Brian is another of NEPA's more valuable soccer resources; in college, he was a star player at East Stroudsburg University, where he was named the 1992 Outstanding Soccer Athlete of the Year; a superlative soccer technician, he still holds the all-time ESU record for most assists in a single season; a veteran trainer at numerous soccer camps, he is known for his ability to inspire youth players to high levels of dedication and success; several of our area's most exceptional young soccer players have blossomed under his tutelage; he is currently the Assistant Coach at Abington Heights High School.
Aaron Palcewzski - twice honored as an NCCAA All-American during his collegiate playing years, Aaron is currently Director of Soccer Development at Riverfront Sports Complex; a dedicated trainer, he has spent over 9 years conducting soccer camps; while developing talent for local travel teams, he has worked with players of all ages; his encouraging, patient style and positive approach to coaching are suited perfectly to the Abington philosophy; his "dry wit" also makes him a favorite with youngsters; the travel teams that he has worked with have won numerous league and tournament championships; he is an expert at teaching ball control and teamwork; prior to his appointment at Riverfront, he served for four years as the Assistant Coach for the Men's Soccer team at Baptist Bible College; he is a founder and one of the lead instuctors of the highly-regarded Riverfront Soccer Academy.
