Position Statement:
ABOUT ARIZONA PREMIER BASEBALL...
Arizona Premier Baseball is a coalition of organizations dedicated to youth development through athletics. Each organization has been in business for a number of years and has achieved a high level of success on and off the field. Each organization provides youth athletes the best opportunity to succeed on and off the field through advanced coaching and mentoring. Each organization is dedicated to the welfare and advancement of its players.
All Arizona Premier teams exhibit the following characteristics:
1. Teams at several age levels, typically 9U through 14U; and 15U – 18U respectively
2. Operated at these various levels for a period of years, in some cases, almost 20 years
3. Achieved a high level of success on and off the field
4. A recognized reputation for integrity, competitiveness, and poise
AZ Premier Baseball seats one board member from each program that is involved carrying one vote per team for any matters that arise.
AZ Premier Baseball is designed to integrate its philosophies throughout Arizona. Each organization has the right to run its own organization as they see fit. However, each program must adhere to the spirit of youth activities set forth by AZ Premier Baseball and its members. It is expected that members of the AZ Premier Baseball will “police” one another on and off the field.
AZ PREMIER BASEBALL REPRESENTATIVES WILL...
1. Respect opponents on and off the field
2. Respect officials officiating games
3. Respect other AZ Premier Baseball representatives
4. Respect family members of AZ Premier Baseball
5. Speak to players in a positive manner
6. Not sacrifice a player emotionally, socially, mentally and/or physically for the sake of winning.
7. Handle themselves in a professional manner on and off the field
8. Always look to improve the AZ Premier Baseball program
9. Demand a drug free environment
10. Remember to uphold the “traditions” of baseball
AZ Premier Baseball will have national tournaments, showcases and scout days at the end of the summer and/or fall play. To conclude the summer season, AZ Premier Baseball will have a local tournament at all the age levels. These tournaments will have the best team from the organization at each level, where appropriate. AZ Premier Baseball will have a showcase for the 14-18u classes as well as the 9-14U programs respectively for the combination of an “FUTURES” team to represent AZ Premier Baseball at National Events. In some instances, organizations who aspire to become associated with AZ Premier Baseball will be invited to enter these national tournaments to fill out the field.
AZ Premier Baseball was not formed to compete with other local or national organizations, nor is its goal to put others out of business or to be divisive in any way. Teams from AZ Premier Baseball will play and compete in a number of existing local and national tournaments. AZ Premier Baseball is an attempt to meet the needs of its members in what is an ever-changing amateur baseball landscape.
AZ Premier Baseball is not a league, and at present does not contemplate engaging in league play among its members, although its members are free to engage in league play. The members of AZ Premier Baseball will host invitational events whose pools and brackets will be populated by other AZ Premier Baseball teams, though not exclusively.
