Beans and Weenies Games
April 5, 2008 --
The first Beans and Weenies (or Steak) game was played April 5 under less than favorable conditions. With the threat of rain or snow, the Lobos split squads faced another weekend rainout. God granted a reprieve and a hole in the cloud cover allowed the players to compete for the grand prize of Steaks for the series winners in July or Beans and Weenies to the team with the losing record.
The Navy team struck first with Spencer King the lead off batter reaching base after being hit by a pitch. Jake Williams and Zach Reidelbach both singled and King scored the first run. For the Blue side Jake Williams reached base 3 times with two hits. Reidelbach picked up where he left off last season picking up three hits for the Blues. Jade Stricker threw incredible for his first start mastering all his pitches.
For the Maroon side, Easton Purchio was hot and had two solid hits. Schyler Bryan started the game for the Maroon side and threw well. The game ended with the Navy side taking game one 9 to 4 in a seven inning contest.

April 27th, 2008 GAME 2
The Maroon team has dug a bit of a hole for themselves dropping what was to be a nine inning contest to the Navy team. Pitching was the story for the Maroon teams lack of performance as well as a short crew. Three Maroon players had to exit the game early which did not help maintain the consistency of the game. The big story for the Navy team was Tucker Leenknect who connected for a couple of big deep blows and 6 RBI's. Garreth Anderson blasted a double off the left field wall as well. The Navy team now leads the series 2-0.
