It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings. Then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it goes......and summer is gone. -- A. Bartlet Giamatti (Former Commissioner of Major League Baseball)

Chaparrals beat the Dragons
March madness takes over the Chaparrals March 11 - 13, 2005
The Chaparrals had a great start winning both pool games. They beat the Dallas Panthers (Black) 14-2 and held the Brownwood Lions 0-7. Then the Chaparrals came back on Sunday and knocked the Denton Vipers out, after allowing one run in the 1st and holding them scoreless in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings until they added 2 runs in the 5th. But still, the Vipers couldn't catch up to the 7 runs they allowed. Well, well, well....we meet up again - to the Texas Rockwall Sports. This was a very close game! The game started out neck-n-neck at 6-5 (the Sports are ahead), until the Chaparrals pulled away and scored three runs in the 2nd inning, holding the Sports to 6. The 3rd inning had both teams on the edge of their seats, Chaparrals scored one run, while the Sports scored two. The Chaparrals are now up by 1 point (8-9) with last bat. It's do or die for the Sports. Do they pull it off?? NO! Chad Young comes in to close the game, striking out all three batters!! Now the Chaparrals face the Southlake Green Dragons. Talk about a nail biter...both teams showed awesome defense and offense. No one could score! The Dragons were the first to get on the board with one run in the 1st inning, until the Chaparrals scored three in the 4th. Both teams went scoreless in the 5th and again the Chaparrals had last bat. The Dragons gave a tough fight but came out short in the end. Chaparrals win the champion ship 3-2 and with ony 9 players the entire tournament. We'd like to extend our thanks to the Southlake Dragons players, coaches and parents for a great, clean game.

Chaparrals win Season Opener
THE COME BACK KIDS! Feb. 19-20, 2005
The Chaparrals won the Super Series BBI Season Opener in the 12U American division. This was the first time for Coach Bryan to take his team to the American division level. As the title indicates, the Chaparrals came from behind throughout the whole tournament. During pool play they allowed only 1 run. Placing 1st seed, they met up with the Texas Cobras (6-5) and the Rockwall Texas Sports (4-0), then the Dallas Tigers in the championship. Up until the 5th inning the Chaparrals were falling short by 6 runs (3-9), then out of no where they started hitting singles and doubles and scored 7 runs in the last two innings. Chaparrals 10/Dallas Tigers 9
Tournament Highlights: Shane Garland hit a home run with 1 on base Cody Payne hit a triple Several doubles hit by various players
We'd like to thank the 11 year old Chaparrals and their families for supporting us at the games!
