Tykers Program Information
The Tykers Program is open to all boys between ages 6 and 8 years old. As the majority of Tykers players are 7 or 8, it is highly recommended that only the more advanced or physically developed 6 year olds participate at the Tykers level. Starting with all boys born in 1999 and later, age for the spring season is determined as of September 1st of the previous year.
Carroll Manor offers both "in-house" and "travel" opportunities for Tykers. All boys playing travel lacrosse must also participate on an in-house team.
In-house teams are divided up evenly between boys of all skill levels. In-house focuses on further introduction to the game of lacrosse and continued fundamental development in all aspects of the game. Goalie position is introduced. In-house teams participate in MYLA league games which occur once per week on Saturdays. Practices will be held two times per week.
Carroll Manor will field 1 to 2 Tykers travel teams per year in the Harford Lacrosse league. Travel teams are selected through try outs prior to the season. The travel teams will practice from 1-2 times per week. A travel player must make the commitment to practice at least 2 times per week (in-house and travel combined). Travel games occur once per week on Sundays. The travel team(s) may participate in area tournaments.
Indoor lacrosse opportunity will be offered during the offseason.

2009 Boys Tykers Practice Schedule
Welcome to the CMRC 2009 Boys Tykers outdoor season!
In keeping with our philosophy of balancing the development of lacrosse fundamentals and offering varying levels of competition to challenge our players, we will field teams within the MYLA in-house program as well as the Harford County travel league. In order to participate on a travel team, players will be required to play for an in-house team as well.

MYLA In-house
We are expecting to field (5) Tykers in-house teams for the 2009 season that will compete in the MYLA league. These teams will be comprised of 1st and 2nd year Tykers players who will be evenly assigned based upon a skills assessment. Each team will have approx. 11 players depending upon the final number of registrations. Players will get equal coaching in practice so they get a chance to learn and develop all skills. During games, players will be rotated to ensure equal playing time, but they will play in positions where they have exhibited the most aptitude during practice. They will have the opportunity throughout the season to expand to different positions as they develop their skill sets. Practices will take place on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:00PM-7:30PM at the Hydes fields #1 and #2. Games will be played on Saturdays.
7-Man Travel Team (B Division)
We will be fielding (1) 7-man Tykers travel team for the 2009 season that will compete in the Harford County Travel "B" league. This team will be comprised primarily of 1st year and some 2nd year Tykers and have 11-12 players. There will be no guarantee of an equal amount of playing time for any player during the season. Practices will take place on Tuesday nights from 6:00PM-7:30PM and games will be played on Sundays. Prior to the commencement of games there will also be weekly practices on Saturday mornings from 10-12 at Hydes. Once games begin there will only be practices on Tuesday nights. Once official games begin players will be exempt from attending the Monday night In-house practice. Players will be expected to attend Travel practice on Tuesday and In-house practice on Thursday at a minimum to be eligible to play in games. This team will participate in area lacrosse tournaments.
10-Man Travel Team (A Division)
We will be fielding (1) 10-man Tykers travel team for the 2009 season that will compete in the Harford County Travel "A" league. This team will be comprised primarily of 2nd year Tykers and have 14-15 players. There will be no guarantee of an equal amount of playing time for any player during the season. Practices will take place on Tuesday nights from 5:30PM-7:00PM at Jacksonville ES and games will be played on Sundays at Hydes. Prior to the commencement of games there will also be weekly practices on Saturday mornings at Hydes. Once games begin there will only be practices on Tuesday nights. Once official games begin players will be exempt from attending the Monday night In-house practice. Players will be expected to attend Travel practice on Tuesday and In-house practice on Thursday at a minimum to be eligible to play in games. This team will participate in area lacrosse tournaments.
