    LADY COUGARS IN COLLEGE
    This section of our website is dedicated to the Lady Cougar softball players who have continued their softball career at a Junior/Community College, College, or University. Below are players dating back to 1999, who not only helped to build this program to where it is today, but also represented Catoctin High School at the next level!!! Here's to you ladies!!!

    Jamie Hertel
    Lock Haven Softball Website
    Jamie was a pitcher who graduated from CHS in 1999. She continued her education and softball career at Lock Haven in Pennsylvania. Jamie is also the sister of Senior Casey Hertel.


    Jen Weaver
    Limestone Softball Website
    Jen was a third baseman who graduated from CHS in 1999. She continued her education and softball career at Limestone College in South Carolina. Jen is also the sister of 2004 graduate Sam Weaver.


    Angie Wantz

    Angie was a second baseman who graduated from CHS in 2001. She continued her education and softball career at Frederick Community College in Maryland.


    Jessica Valentine
    Mars Hill Softball Website
    Jessica was a catcher who graduated from CHS in 2002. She continued her education and softball career at Mars Hill College in North Carolina. Jessica is also the sister of 2005 graduate Sam Valentine.

    2006: Jessica Valentine wore #20, and started 59 games of the 59 games played her senior season. She split time between 3rd base and behind the plate. She had 21 multiple hit games, and 9 multiple RBI games. She had 4 hits against Pfeiffer University (April 15, 2006), 5 RBI’s against Brevard College (March 30, 2006), 3 doubles against Brevard College (March 30, 2006), and a SAC fly against Wingate University (March 25, 2006). She led the team in runs scored (40), hits (65), doubles (16), total bases (105), walks (16), hit by pitches (3), SAC flies (1), and games started (59). She was second in batting average (.365), slugging % (.590), on base % (.424), and RBI’s (35). Jessica also carried a fielding % of .960 throughout the season. Jessica was the team captain, was named team MVP, and received the South Atlantic Conference Senior Award.

    2005: Jessica Valentine wore #20, and started 57 games of the 58 games played her junior season. She played all 57 games at 3rd base, and missed her lone game due to a concussion. She had 12 multiple hit games, and 5 multiple RBI games. She had 3 walks against Lander University (Feb 25, 2005). She was 3rd or 4th in most offensive categories. Jessica also carried a fielding % of .921 throughout the season.

    2004: Jessica Valentine wore #20, and started 55 games of the 58 games played her sophomore season. She spilt time at 1st base, 3rd base, short top, and behind the plate. She had 8 multiple hits games and 2 multiple RBI games. She hit 2 doubles against Newberry College (April 04, 2004), and she had 8 total bases on the same day. She led the team in walks (16). She was second in on base % (.327), doubles (6), and games played (58). Jessica also carried a fielding % of .953 throughout the season.

    2003: Jessica Valentine wore #20, and started 51 games of the 51 games played in her freshman season. She split time at 1st base, 3rd base, short stop, and behind the plate. She had 18 multiple hit games and 9 multiple RBI games. She scored 4 runs against Emmanual College (Mar 08, 2003), and she hit 2 homeruns against Lincoln Memorial (Mar 25, 2003). Jessica led the team in Slugging % (.578), runs scored (24), hits (54), doubles (15), homeruns (8), total bases (93), and games started (51). She was second in batting average (.335), and RBI’s (26). Jessica also carried a fielding % of .972 throughout the season. Jessica was named team Offensive MVP.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Valentine was an offensive threat every year throughout high school…batted over .600 her senior season…she helped lead Catoctin High School in Maryland to the State tournament all four years.... earning runner-up status as a freshman, and senior, while falling short in the semi-finals her sophomore and junior years... three-time MVAL winner...two-time first-team all-area honoree as a junior and senior….participated for Maryland Heartbreakers Red under Terry Burdette for 3 years...member of school's field hockey and basketball teams and received All-County attention in field hockey as well…also a member of the FFA.

    PERSONAL: Born November 6, 1984...daughter of Michael and Denise Valentine...has two sisters, Amanda and Samantha...a physical education teacher education major.


    Kim Stiles
    Pittsburgh Softball Website
    Kim was a first baseman/catcher who graduated from CHS in 2003. She continued her education and softball career at Vermont University in Vermont and transferred to play at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania her sophomore year. Kim is also the sister of 2004 graduate Kelly Stiles and 2006 graduate Kasey Stiles.

    2006: Kim Stiles appeared in four games for the Panthers...recorded one hit in three at bats...named a Big East Academic All-Star.

    2005: Kim Stiles appeared in one game in her first season with the Panthers...earned Big East Academic All-Star honors.

    2004: Stiles appeared in four games for the Vermont Catamounts as a freshman with one at-bat and one run scored...also walked twice and had an on-base percentage of .667...a 2004 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Stiles recorded a .407 batting average at Catoctin High School in Maryland...led team to four Regional and County championships, along with two state runner-up finishes in 2001 and 2002, and two state semifinals appearances in 2000 and 2003...team MVP her senior season...first-team all-area, as well as first-team All-County in 2003...junior year Defensive MVP and first-team all-area...played on Lil'Saints for three years in Phoenix, Arizona....part of Keystone Wildkats in 2000-01...participant on Maryland Heartbreakers team from 2001-03...three-year letterwinner on Catoctin's volleyball team...part of National Honor Society, student government, and also named Maryland Distinguished Scholar.

    PERSONAL: Born December 20, 1984...daughter of Donna Stiles...has three sisters, including Kelly, a sophomore on the Pitt softball team and Angie and Kasey and one brother, Nick...a political science/communications major.


    Kelly Stiles

    Kelly was an outfielder who graduated from CHS in 2004. She continued her education and softball career at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Kelly is also the sister of 2003 graduate Kim Stiles and 2006 graduate Kasey Stiles.

    2006: Kelly Stiles started two of the 13 games played in...blasted a homerun in her first at bat of the season...added four RBIs on the year.

    2005: Kelly Stiles started six of the 11 games she appeared in... went 1 for 1 with an RBI against Ohio State...scored one run against Robert Morris.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Stiles hit .363 in her career and .336 as a senior at Catoctin High School in Maryland...helped lead her team to three state finals, earning runner-up status as a freshman, sophomore and senior...helped Catoctin to a third-place finish at states in 2003...four-time MUAL winner...two-time first-team all-county honoree as a sophomore and junior and earned second-team all-county honor in 2004...All-Sports Writers Team for three years from 2002-04...participated for Virginia Shamrocks for one year...member of school's volleyball team and received All-County attention in that sport as well...junior and senior Student Scholar Award winner...a National Honor Society member.

    PERSONAL: Born January 30, 1986...daughter of Donna Stiles...has three sisters, including Kim, a junior on the Pitt softball team, Angie and Kasey and one brother, Nick...a double major in urban studies and sociology.


    Sam Weaver
    Limestone Softball Website
    Sam was a pitcher who graduated from CHS in 2004. She continued her education and softball career at Limestone College in South Carolina. Sam is also the sister of 1999 graduate Jen Weaver.

    2006: Played in 28 games with a .294 batting average... Had eight RBIs.

    2005: Played in 35 games in her first season of college ball… had 17 hits and six runs with 10 RBIs.

    High School: Led Catoctin to a 20-1 record in her senior year…helped Catoctin to 4 consecutive Regional Championships…named MVP and 1st-team All-Area as a senior…set Maryland homerun and RBI records as a senior.

    Personal: Daughter of Christopher and Rebecca Weaver…majoring in computer science.


    Ashley Lenhart

    Ashley was a third baseman who graduated from CHS in 2005. She continued her education and softball career at Hood Colllege in Maryland.

    2006: Started 26 of the 36 games in which she played … Hit .270 with four doubles and two home runs … Scored 24 times and drove in 12 … Drew 10 walks and was a perfect 7-for-7 in stolen base attempts … Went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, a career-high four RBIs and three runs scored in the second game of a doubleheader sweep of Christendom April 29 … Went 2-for-2 with a double, three walks, a stolen base, five runs scored and one RBI in game two of a twinbill sweep of Wells March 26 … Hit her first career home run – a two-run shot – against in game one of a doubleheader sweep of Trinity March 24.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered all four years at Catoctin … Helped the Cougars win regional championships in 2003 and 2004 and advance to the state championship game in 2004 … Earned first-team MVAL and Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2004 … Named Rookie of the Year in 2003 … Also played for the Thurmont Express and helped the team win the 2003 state championship … Honor Roll member all four years … Also a member of the National Honor Society.

    PERSONAL: Born January 25, 1987 … Daughter of Harold and Kay Lenhart … Majoring in elementary education with a minor in physical education.


    Jessica Kreitz

    Jess was a catcher who graduated from CHS in 2005. She continued her education and softball career at Hood College in Maryland.

    2006: Earned second-team All-AWCC honors … Lone Blazer to start all 43 games … Hit .305 with six doubles, a triple, two home runs and 26 RBIs … Scored 28 runs, drew 14 walks, had a team-high three sacrifice flies and added two sacrifice hits ... Ranked second on the team in RBIs, fourth in doubles and tied for fourth in home runs … Collected a career-high three hits three times (against Wells March 26, Gallaudet April 13 and Christendom April 29) … Went 5-for-6 with two doubles, two walks, six RBIs, five runs scored and four stolen bases in a doubleheader sweep of Wells March 26 … Went 3-for-3 with a career-high five RBIs and three runs scored in the second game …Went 3-for-4 with her first career home run, three RBIs and three runs scored in game one of a twinbill sweep of Christendom April 29 … Went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, a walk and two runs scored against Mary Baldwin in the AWCC championship game May 7.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Played softball and volleyball four years and basketball one year at Catoctin … Helped the softball team to three regional championships, a pair of state semifinal appearances and one state championship game appearance … Earned second-team All-MVAL for softball in 2004 … Helped the Thurmont Express win the NSA Mid-Summer Challenge and the Maryland ASA championship in 2004 … Member of the Thurmont Little League Softball team that won the Maryland State Senior Championship in 2003 was district champions in both 2002 and 2003 … Helped the Catoctin volleyball team to the regional semifinals in 2004 ... Member of the Mock Trial Team, National Honor Society and Class, Drama and Latin Clubs … Also a Maryland Distinguished Scholar and four-year member of the Honor Roll .

    Mandi Lambert

    Mandi was an outfielder who graduated from CHS in 2005. She continued her education and softball career at Hood College in Maryland. Mandi transferred after her freshman year and now attends Shenandoah University in Virginia.


    Sam Valentine

    Sam was an outfielder who graduated from CHS in 2005. She continued her education and softball career at Wilson College in Pennsylvania. Sam is also a member of the Wilson College field hockey team. Sam is also the sister of 2002 graduate Jessica Valentine.


    Sara Wastler

    Sara was a short stop who graduated from CHS in 2005. She continued her education and softball career at Hood College in Maryland. Sara is also a member of the Hood College basketball team.

    2006: Voted to the All-AWCC first team as well as the AWCC Newcomer of the Year …
    Named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III All-Atlantic Region second team … Also named the Hood College Athletics Female Newcomer of the Year … Put together one of the finest seasons in school history from her leadoff spot … Started all 40 games in which she played … Missed the first three games of the year while helping the Hood basketball team win the AWCC championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament … Set single-season school records for batting average (.473), at-bats (123), hits (62), doubles (20), total bases (97) and fielding percentage (.986) ... Also matched the school mark for runs scored (48) and tied for second in RBIs (36), triples (3) and stolen bases (16) … Posted a .740 slugging percentage and .531 on-base percentage, the third-highest single-season totals in school history … Had a season-high 16-game hitting streak during which time she hit .574 (31-of-54) to raise her season average from .429 to .496 … Had three four-hit games and seven three-hit games over the course of the year … Made just two errors in 141 chances at shortstop … Went 3-for-3 with a grand slam (the first homer of her career), two doubles, a walk, four runs scored and a career-high seven RBIs in game two of a doubleheader sweep of Chatham April 9 … In back-to-back games against Wells (March 26) and Wilson (March 30), went 8-for-8 with three doubles, two walks, a stolen base, eight runs scored and three RBIs … Had a base hit in 11 consecutive official at-bats over the course of doubleheaders against Wells and Wilson … Went 7-for-8 with four doubles, a triple, six runs scored and five RBIs in a sweep of Christendom April 29 … Went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a three-run home run, five RBIs and four runs scored against Chestnut Hill in the opening game of the AWCC Tournament May 6.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four letters in softball, basketball and field hockey at Catoctin … Helped Catoctin win three conference and three region titles in softball as well as two conference titles and one region title in basketball … As a junior, hit .352 and was named second-team all-division and second-team all-area … Helped the Thurmont Senior League All-Star Team win the Maryland state championship and finish fourth in the Eastern U.S. regional … First-team all-conference and first-team all-area in field hockey as a senior … Also as a senior, led Catoctin to the Maryland Class 1A West Region title after averaging 13.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 4.6 steals per game … Sank a school single-season record 48 3-pointers and earned first-team all-division and first-team all-area honors ... Member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and student government.

    PERSONAL: Born June 29, 1987 … Daughter of Rick and Tina Wastler … Majoring in elementary education … Also a member of the Hood basketball team … Helped the Blazers win the AWCC championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament as a freshman.


    Alecia Brandenburg
    Shepherd Softball Website
    Alecia was a picher who graduated from CHS in 2006. She continued her education and softball career at Shepherd University in West Virginia. Alecia was a member of the 2006 State Championship team at Catoctin.

    2007: Expected to make an immediate impact as a pitcher/outfielder.

    Prior to Shepherd: A 2006 graduate of Catoctin High School where she
    played softball for Amy Hunt and Kim Flabbi. Lettered in softball and
    volleyball. Two-time First Team All-MVAC selection in softball. Named
    2005 Co-Player of the Year by Frederick News-Post. Named First Team
    All-Area by the Hagerstown Herald-Mail in 2005. Member of State
    Runnerup team in softball in 2004. Posted a 16-3 record with 143
    strikeouts and an 0.50 ERA as a senior. Also batted .509 with three
    home runs and 23 RBIs.

    Personal: Born 1-29-88. The daughter of Philip and Roxanna
    Brandenburg. Majoring in business.


    Brittany Brown

    Britt was an outfielder who graduated from CHS in 2006. She continued her education and softball career at Messiah College in Pennsylvania. Britt was a member of the 2006 State Championship team at Catoctin.


    Kasey Stiles

    Kasey was a third baseman who graduated from CHS in 2006. She continued her education and softball career at Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania. Kasey was a member of the 2006 State Championship team at Catoctin. Kasey is also the sister of 2003 graduate Kim Stiles and 2004 graduate Kelly Stiles.

    Will miss the 2007 season due to an injury...Was a four yearletter winner in softball, and a three year letterwinner in volleyball while attending Catoctin High School...Made the All Conference Team and was also named captain of her varsity softball team...She also led the team in home runs and RBI her senior year...Social Work major.

    Amanda was an outfielder who graduated from CHS in 2007. She continued her education and softball career at McDaniel College in Westminster,MD with teammate Lauren Wildasin. Amanda was a member of the 2006 State Championship team at Catoctin.

    Casey was a pitcher and second baseman who graduated from CHS in 2007. She continued her education and softball career at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Casey was a member of the 2006 State Championship team at Catoctin. She was also the sister of 1999 graduate Jamie Hertel.
