What you need to do to get started as a Manager of a T-Ball Team
Manager Info Sheet
January 4, 2009 --
Thanks for managing or helping out with a North HillsT-Ball Team.
Here is some information that might help.
1. College Hill Baseball needs to be able to reach you. Please complete the Manager Information Sheet and return to Bill O'Brien. We primarily communicate by email - please give us an email address that either you or someone in your family will monitor frequently. Also, we do need a phone number to reach you. Please complete the Manager Info Sheet -click on the link above.
2. You probably are wondering about uniforms. North Hills Baseball will provide a basic uniform consisting of a hat, shirt and pants. The players can keep the shirt and hat. The pants should be returned to Bill Cunningham at the end of the season.
3. We will pass out the hats and shirts and pants as well. However, to enable us to order the pants, you need to complete the Pants Exchange Form. Please return this form to Bill Cunningham
We will provide you with contact information for Bill C.
If you have any questions, call Bill O'Brien- 729-1786

Rainout Procedures/ How to postpone a game
January 3, 2009 --
Weather will always have an impact on some games during the course of the season. Please use common sense and never play during a lightning storm. If you observe lightning while playing, please stop the game promptly and do not resume play until at least 10 minutes have passed without further lightning strikes.
While the home team manager controls the decision as to whether or not to play the game, if for no other reason than common courtesy, the visiting team manager should be consulted and offered an opportunity for input.
For Saturday games (given the early start time of some of the games), we will place on either Friday night or Saturday morning a pre-recorded message on the College Hill Hotline Number (929-BALL /929-2255).
This will give you the field conditions and our recommendation as to whether the game should or should not be played.
We can NOT do this for weekday games. Thus we would suggest the following:
a. Contact the visiting team manager a day or two in advance of the game and get some contact information (work number probably is not given on the schedule).
b. If it raining all day (or it is really obvious that the game can not be played), try to call the visiting team manager at least 2 hours before the start of the game (earlier, if possible) to communicate your decision.
c. You can always just show up at the game with your team and make a game time decision.
d. You can obviously stop a game once it has started. This should be a joint decision with the other manager, but, if you think conditions are not safe, you can simply say your are discontinuing play.
e. If a game is rained out (and it is a home game), then contact the other team's manager to reschedule the game. Use your practice night as the night of the make-up game. It is not necessary that all games be made-up. You should try to ensure that your kids play 10/11 games by the end of the season.

Unform Pants
North Hills Baseball will provide a hat, shirt and pants for each player on your team (and most likely we will also provide socks as well).
Bill Cunningham coordinates the uniform pants distribution. If you managed last year and still have pants, determine what you can use again this year and what new sizes you will need for the new season.
If you are a new manager, please use the form to determine the size of pants that you will need for your team.
Thanks much for your cooperation with us on this.

General Information for Kid Glove Game
Right now we don't have the dates, but most likely we will be assigned two game nights (a weekday in late April or May) for use by North Hills Baseball as a part of the Kid Glove Promotion.
Basically each child who registers, as a part of the registration fee, is entitled to one voucher for the kid glove game (value $8). Additional vouchers can be purchased for use by family members/friends.
The objective is to have a team outing and to have as many kids and parents/friends on your team participate. We will ask you to appoint a "Team Mom" to collect the money from the family members/friends attending with the player and give us a total number who will be attending from your team. We will then get the tickets from the Reds and get the tickets to you for distribution to your team.
What is important is that the ticket actually be used - it must be given to the gate attendant. If used, then North Hills Baseball receives a credit in the amount of $8 for each ticket - again only if the ticket is actually used or turned in to a gate attendant at Great American Ball Park.
These credits are used by us to purchase equipment for our T-Ball and Baseball Programs.
This is our major fund raiser and it is fun. We hope you will get as many youngsters on your team to go as possible. Generally you will be able to sit together as a team so everyone will have a good time.
