Completion of a Registration Form and Knothole Contract
09 Baseball and Coach Pitch Registration Form
January 2, 2009 --
Two basic forms must be completed by a player and his/her parent(s) for the player to be elgible to play in the North Hills Baseball Program.
a. The first form is the basic registration form. The form can be downloaded from the website. There is a direct link to the registration form on Welcome Page The form is in a pdf format and thus must be opened via the adobe acrobat reader.
b. The second form is the Contract Form. This form is a requirement of the Greater Cincinnati Knothole Association. It must be completed by each player. We will pass out the contract forms at the Manager's Meeting. Additionally, we (it is not there yet) try to upload the contract form to the website so that it can be downloaded. Note the contract form is not required for players in T-Ball, Coaches Pitch or in the D-1 Classification.
Additional notes:
1. Please contact your players from last year and ask them to complete and return the registration form by March 7th (the registration fee must accompany the registration).
2. If a player/family has a financial hardship, please contact Al, Bill C, Mike Dillon or Bill O'B to discuss. We will not refuse anyone the opportunity to play due to financial circumstances. However, our general belief is that everyone can pay something.
3. The contract forms have historically been a problem. It is important that these forms be completed. Failure to complete this form can result in a team forfeiting all of its games.
4. Review the contract forms before submitting them to Al or Bill. Be sure that they are complete and particularly review the player's address.

Rain Out Procedures
January 2, 2009 --
The general procedures are as follows
(this applies only to North Hills Home Games):
1. For Saturday games we will post an announcment on the 929-BALL
hotline number. We may move the field location - but we will not change the time of the game. The game either will or will not be played at the assigned time. The only variable would be location.
2. Weekday games - you are on your own. It is perfectly fine if you wait until you get to the field to determine what to do.
3. You can not over communicate with the manager of the other team. It is always a good idea (particularly for a weekday game) to have a work number or some way of reaching the other manager during the day of the game. This may not always be possible - but it is certainly something to try to accomplish.
4. It is your call (on any home game - Saturday or weekdays) as to whether the game should or should not be played. The hotline information on Saturday's is just a courtesy device.
5. Once the game has started, the home plate umpire is in charge. Thus, the decision to call the game must officially be made by the home plate umpire (consistent with general baseball rules).
6. Particularly at the younger ages, as a manager you should feel free to discuss with the umpire and the other manager whether or not the game should be continued.
7. Obviously if you see lightning - the game should be stopped for approximately 5 minutes. Do not continue the game if there is lightning.
8. Common sense always should be the guide on these issues. If you feel uncomfortable playing - even if the other teams manager and umpire want to continue to play - simply advise the umpire that you are ending the game and will forfeit.
9. If a game is postponed, try to reschedule as soon as reasonable possible. Generally use your practice night to re-schedule games. Feel free to use the extra fields if you need to.
a. Be sure to email all other North Hills Managers advising that you have scheduled a game on a field other than your practice night.
b. Do NOT schedule a game on another manager's assigned practice night unless you know the field will not be in use that night.
10. Please call Sean O'Brien - the umpire coordinator and head umpire.
Vince's phone number is 582-4623. Give Sean at least 48 hours notice and obviously provide him with the day, date and location of the re-scheduled game.
11. Refer to the handout for assigned practice nights. Use your assigned practice night or, if necessary, use the extra night allocated to your team. Again, please do not use a field assigned to another North Hills Team unless you have first checked with that manager and know the field is not in use. Please remember you can not over communicate on rainouts.
Hope this helps.

Please review this form before selecting your practice night. Remember, please, the practice night you select will be the day of the week we use to schedule your weekday home games.
Please note we NEED (THIS IS A MUST) an email address for each mangager. Email is our primary means of communication. Thus, in completing the Manager Information Form, please give us an email address that either yourself or someone will check for messages on a regular basis.

Practice Night and Night for Selection of Batting Cage
Practice and Batting Cage Nights Preference
Each Manager should complete and return to Bill O'Brien (preferably in pdf format by email)
We will discuss what fields we will have available at the Manager's Meeting. Right now the primary factor should be the date or dates that you would prefer to practice - again we will determine the field location as we get closer to the start of the season.
As to Batting Cages - again please give the times that work for you. We will have access to the NCH Batting Cage and we will work out times and locations as we get closer to the start of the season.

Use of Batting Cage
Practice Field and Batting Cage Preference Form
January 2, 2009 --
You can use the batting cage once per week (and as much as you want on Saturday or Sunday). Complete the batting cage preference form (when you complete your field preference form)
As everyone knows in 2008 we purchased a new pitching machine and netting. We think that the Bengals - Marvin Lewis Charities- may have inadvertenly cut the power line in the Fall of 08. Ralph Martin, a local electrician, has been contacted and is working to fix the problem.
Additionally in 2009, we will have access to the NCH Batting Cage - at the NCH Baseball Building at the corner of Goodman and Simpson Avenues in North College Hill.
Use emails to all managers to select a time for use of the cage.
Managers from the 2008 season should have keys to the College Hill Batting Cage.
We will discuss this in more detail at the Manager's Meeting to kick-off the season. Would like a volunteer to coordinate the use of the two batting cages.

Residence and Eligibility to Play Baseball In College Hill
January 2, 2009 --
There are no issues of residence for a player to participate in the T-Ball or Coaches Pitch Program.
For age classifications D-1 and above, there are new rules this year.
1. Any youngster living in College Hill, North College Hill, Finneytown, Greenhills, Forest Park, Springfield Township, Carthage, Elmwood Place, Hatwell, Lincoln Heights, St. Bernard, Woodlawn, Mt. Airy,
Wyoming, White Oak, Grosebeck, Meadowbrook, Monfort Heights, Taylor Creek, Golf Way Acres, Mt. Healthy, Bevis, Pleasant Run, Ross, Milville Glendale, Lincoln Heights, Lockland, Arlington Heights, Springdale, Reading, and Evandale CAN PLAY IN COLLEGE HILL AND NO RELEASE OR PERMISSION FORM IS NECESSARY.
2. Any youngster living in Clifton, Corryville, Northside, and Winton Terrace can play in College Hill, but we will need a release or permission form for this player.
3. Note, we will also consider where a youngster attends school for purposes of determining elgibility to play.

Uniform Pants Exchange
Uniform Pants Exchange Form
January 2, 2009 --
Policy on this will be finalized at the Manager's Meeting. All teams were provided with new pants in the 08 season - we would like to use as many of the 08 pants as possible.

Uniforms and Team Sponsors
January 2, 2009 --
Unless you have a sponsor, the players on your team will be issued the standard North Baseball Uniform (consists of a hat, shirt and pair of pants along with belts and socks). This would be the uniform that all players must wear. This is the basic uniform that must be worn.
Please note that the player can keep the hat and shirt at the end of the season. Pants must be collected and either used in the next season or exchanged for new pants (see the Uniform Pants Exchange Form in the handout section).
In the past we have allowed teams to create "fancier" uniforms. Given the uniform upgrades in 2008 (better pants, better hats, better shirt and the addition of socks and belts), we would ask that all teams in North Hills wear the same uniform.
We are still very interested in sponsors - and we need them as a source of business. If you or a parent on your team would like to sponsor, the suggested donation is $200. The name of the sponsor will be included on the uniform shirt and (as as noted above), players are permitted to keep their shirts.
If you know someone who wants to sponsor, please ask them to call Bill O'Brien - 729-1786
