 Notes from Coach O'Reilly Weather

Do you want to be one of the BEST players on your team?  Do you want to be a future high school ALL-AMERICA?  (Entering this season Pinkerton Academy has had 38 All-America players).

You can make yourself one of these players with just 15 minutes of work each day.      15 minutes a day! Get to a wall with your stick, gloves, and a ball. If you do not have access to a wall, you are welcome to come to the Oval where we have many walls available. You can even come and use them while we have high school practice going on.  Get to your team practice early, or stay late, and use the wall.

Here is a simple plan for you:

WALL BALL

First    FROM IN CLOSE (Try to hit the same brick, or spot on wall, every time)

  • Regular throw               25 x with strong hand                50 x weak hand

  • Quick Stick                  25 x strong hand                       50 x weak hand

(catch it and throw it back without cradling it)

  • Throw Rt / Catch Lft    50 x then…                  50 x throw Left / catch Right

(throw it with your right hand then catch it with your left then switch back to your right hand and repeat)

  • Behind the back            50 times

(throw it behind your back with your strong hand and catch it with your strong hand)

Then    BACK UP 10 FEET, INCREASE VELOCITY, AND REPEAT ABOVE

This will be a minimum of 600 throws/catches each day. That is almost 2,500 each week,

10,000 a month!

Unlike many sports that require things you have little control over (size, speed, etc.) lacrosse excellence comes from stick skills. You can make yourself a future college star with outstanding passing and catching. EVERYONE goes to lacrosse practice, EVERYONE does the same team drills, will YOU put the extra time in to make yourself different from everyone else?
