    Hello everyone,
In regards to our schedule change for 5/5 weekend.  We are no longer scheduled for NC.  We are scheduled for SATB in Rehobeth, De.  By popular demand we will be staying again at the Sleep Inn.  The rates for regular rooms will be $79 because of May rates.  The hotel is almost sold out and we are getting the last rooms.

    They have blocked out
    7 NS double beds
    2 smoking double beds
    1 king suite

Erin will be working this week between 7-3 daily until Wed.  You can call outside of those times however she is most familiar with our team and needs.  There maybe  additional suites available for 85 with King only.

Please call by Wed to gaurantee your spot and price.  I believe the regular rate is $129.
Thanks and if your son speaks to his teammates online, then tell him to remind his friends parents to call.

    4-5-7....
I should know if we can get a field around 2-3 pm...stay tuned.  Also, if you have not paid for your sweats and T's, please do so by putting a check or money in an envelope with your name on it.  Mike C I have a black T shirt for you.

Stay tuned, I'm trying to get Washington Lake Park for Thursday's practice, time TBA etc.

Saturday's uniforms will be White with royal underarmour with black socks and hats.  It should be very cold throughout the day so dress properly.  We will arrive at 7:45 am.

**Parents I will need a hand to prep the field with lines, batters box etc.  Please volunteer!

A few people asked me for more sweats etc.  In order for me to get the same prices we need to get 12 pieces and/or more 12 hats.  So hand in your order this weekend or forever hold your peace.  At least for now anyway!

The deadline for May 4-6 NC Spring Nationals is upcoming.  I will be asking you if you would like to attend.  I feel as though we would have a real good chance to win!  But we need everyone's committment if we are going to go!

    3-31-07...
When you arrive at the complex, our field will be on the concession side of the street in the back.  Again park to avoid foul balls.  Players will meet at the batting cages near the concession stand with their bags.  A practice is scheduled until 5:30 on that field.  So we will put our bags in left field next to the cages and we will stretch and hit first in the cages, then when practice is over we will take the first base side and throw in right field.  Good luck and I can't wait to see our team take the field again.  All T's and sweats should be completed by noon today except the Hallaway wind breakers so please bring your money and put it in an envelope with your name on it and I will review it later when I have time.  Thanks, Coach

    3-29-07....

For our scrimmages on Sunday, uniforms will be any gray pants with any royal blue (or any blue) top and your new gray and blue hat that we will give out at the end of Sat's practice.

We will arrive at 10:45 and begin warm-up promptly at 11:00.  The coaches could use some help with field prep, so just come up to me and offer your services when you arrive.  This way we could focus on our players, etc.

    2007 D Ray Roster
Thank you to everyone who came to tryouts on 1-21-07.  As I mentioned, we will have our evaluations completed and we will post the new 2007 D Ray roster by Thursday night.

Anyone picked for the 2007 Team should be prepared to workout at the Hit Dr in WT starting this Friday night 1-27-07 from 7 pm to 9 pm.

As I mentioned to you at the meeting, we have hired the Hit Dr to provide professional instruction for the first 4 sessions.  These 4 sessions will be the next 4 consecutive Fridays.  Then we as a staff, will conduct the next several training sesssions.  This way our staff will be all on the same page as far as how to improve the fundamentals learned over the first four weeks for each individual player.  We will have instructor Bob Shannon for hitting from 7-8 and instructor Steve Mondile for pitching from 8-9.

    Steve Mondile

Hit Doctor instructor 16 years, Pro player Baltimore Orioles Organization 5 years, Scouting supervisor for the Cincinnati Reds and the Florida Marlins 6 years, Brooklawn American Legion - 2 x state champs, '84 World Series runner-up, All-American Kentucky Wesleyan College, All-State Pitcher Gloucester Catholic H.S.,
    Current Phillies Scout.

    Bob Shannon

Hit Doctor instructor 16 years, Former pitching coach Audubon H.S., LaSalle University #9 Top Ten hitters in the U.S., Pro player Montreal Expos Organization., Player-coach Holland Professional Baseball 3 years, Baseball Ambassador Eastern Europe-Poland, Czech. USSR-1990, All-State SS Paul VI H.S., Brooklawn American Legion '79 State Champs, 1980 Draft pick Oakland A's.

It will be $40 per night for the 2 hours of instruction per player.  Over the last several years the Hit Dr has given us a free tunnel and pitching lane for every session that we hired their staff. I'm optimistic that will happen again.  However that is not finalized at this point(Tuesday 1-23-07 1:15 pm).  I will keep you informed.  Thank You!  Coach Mario

Under Armour Bomber Mid Metal Baseball Cleats
    FYI D Ray Players,
A note from Mrs Zagunis who has been helping with the bat bags and team cleats.
Thanks for your help and we all missed you guys at the team party.  Hope Mark is feeling better!

Also, I forgot to mention that Dick's has the Under Armour cleats for the same price as the catalog page.  They also have a very nice (similar pair) for $75.00.  They are all black (mid) with the silver Under Armour symbol.  They just don't have the fancy silver line going through them like the $100.00 pair.  I thought you might want to share with the group, because sometimes people are lucky to get Dick's coupons which they could use towards their purchase.

    D Ray's plan for 2007...
    January 9, 2007  --
This past weekend the Jersey Devil Rays meet with Coach Ken Godfrey an asked Coach Ken to join our staff.  He is excited to join the staff and we are excited to have him.  He has many years of experience and has been involved in coaching for approximately 3 decades.  We are sure that his great attitude for the game and experience will help all the 2007 D Ray players.

Coach Joe Scully will be returning for his second year as a D Ray Coach.  Coach Joe's love for the game, experience and passion to win is appreciated.  He has a great way to get all the players involved and excited.  He is always willing to help out, Coach Joe is an asset to the D Rays and we look forward to his participation for another successful season.

The 2007 D Rays have committed to primarily a tournament team with periodic weekly games.  We will have a schedule consisting of approximately 10 tournaments.  Our goal will be to win each and every tournament as well as capture State and National recognition.  Details of our schedule will be released once everything is finalized.  The committment to D Rays baseball has to be your number one priority and must take top priority when conflicts occur.  We will be stopping play when school let's out in order to allow many players compete with their town teams in Districts, States and Legion or Del Val.  There is a possibility of playing a few summer tournaments but we will not gaurantee this at this point.

The tryout is 1-21-07 from 9-11:30 at the Hit Dr in WT .

We have heard from Jon Rothschild, Scott Milden and Mark Jankowski and  they have all decided to play elsewhere.  We wish them the best of luck and I'm sure they will be an asset to whatever team they will be playing for. We enjoyed coaching them in 2006.  They gave their heart and soul throughout the season and we will not fofrget them for their deication.

In closing, we look forward to seeing everyone soon.  We have lined up several excellent new recruits that we are also excited about having them come to tryouts.

Thanks for your time and I look forward to a great seaon with everyone!

    Coach Mario
