GENERALS @ BLACKHAWKS
September 6, 2009 --
Congratulations on making the playoffs Generals. We beat the "new" Blackhawks with 6 starters missing on defense, with our 4th and 5th string qb's and running backs with little or no experience. That is impressive. That is how deep we are as a team. Most of our subs would start on other teams, they are here because they want to be part of something special. You know I am not a Cowboy fan, but we are quickly becoming "America's semi-pro football team". Almost everywhere we go, players from other teams ask us about signing up to be a General. We take that as a complement. It speaks to how we play and how we carry our selves as a team. Not everyone is cut out to be a General. This team is special in a lot of ways.
We need to have a good week of practice and fine tune a few things. Next week, CONSHY. 4 time defending league champs! This time, at our place, we will only be playing The Steelers. We have to play our A game to beat them. I thought I saw a few chinks in their armor last time. We will try to exploit that. I don't think they will be able to run the ball against us so if you are a corner or safety you will need to bring your best stuff. We are now playing for home field advantage. We all know how important that will be. Just Win Baby.

PUNISHERS GAME
August 3, 2009 --
We've got a tough one coming up this week men. I have never seen a group so determined. Fast wide outs with great hands, killer running back, solid offensive line and an evasive qb who can make something out of nothing. The defense is 100 miles an hour down hill. Great down line man, fast d ends, linebackers that will crack you when they have to and run you down when they need to. A secondary that no one wants to throw into. An exceptional placekicker and very good special teams. You know what, I'd be a little nervous if I was Henry, because that is the description of the Generals. Let's strive to be one of those rare teams that wins games because they are supposed to. Conshy shmonshy. Coach Riley

I most certainly do my best work with a clipboard in my hand, but it sure was fun to get out there and play a little. I promise I won't do it often, only when we have a significant lead. It is also fun to win, a hell of a lot more fun then the alternative.
We must get down to business this week. You must condition in your own time, we have scarce little time during the week to prepare for our next opponent. Review your assignments and make sure you know what you have to do and when you have to do it. Remember this game is only really fun when you win! We have a very tough opponent to face this week, make sure you are ready to play at a high level.

Just wanted to say how happy I am with the first few practices. The
overall attitude and work ethic is outstanding. If we can continue
learning, and training this way, we should have an excellent season.
Nearly everyone is competing for spots on the field. The competition
is good for all, It makes everyone work just a little harder. The
payoff will be, better players and great depth.
Everyone needs to be ready to step on the field at a moments notice. Everyone needs to continue to learn their spots and what they need to do in all situations. If you are not a starter than you are just an injury away from being one.
If you would like to do something for your teammates when you are not at practice, run at least 3 times a week. This will be even more important when the season starts and we are only practicing one day a week.
You should only be weight training for maintenance. Strength plays an importance in football, but if you can't run, all the strength in the world won't help you in the 4th quarter.
Keep it up Generals, good things happen to those who work
hard for their goals. Eye's on the prize.

Generals I hope you are just as anxious as I am to get started. A lot of things will remain unchanged from last year. Our offense and defense will be basically the same, with some minor modifications. Our team philosophy will remain the same. Our philosophy of team is just that. We believe that team comes first. No player is more important than the team. We always protect each other against all attackers and put team success above our own. This is what makes us successful. When we play as a team we are unstopable.
A few things will change about what it means to be a General. It will mean that everyone will have an important role in keeping the Generals strong on and off the field and to give back, in our community, to those less fortunate than us.
We are no longer the first year team that sneaks up on our competition. We are now an established team that everyone is gunning for. That will mean that we will have to work twice as hard to have the same amount of success we had last year. I don't know about you, but making it to the CFA playoffs this year is not going to be enough for me. We are going to include the CFA championship on our schedule and we will strive for it everyday. I don't just want to make it to the championship, I want to win it!
Our success last year means more players are interested in becoming Generals. When I last talked to Dan, the number of players that have signed up to play this year is nearly double what it was last year. That means there will be tremendous competition for positions. If you intend to keep your spot or vie for another spot please don't come to the try out fat and out of shape. This should be fair warning for all. The off season is over. Get in shape so you can impress.
We had a lot of players last year that I thought had great potential but, never got in shape. Some of you are your own worst enemies. Don't be one of those guys that gets left behind because you don't get off your couch and train your body.
Can't wait to get started, Go Generals
