Mike Gomez-JV Head Coach
Coach Gomez was born and raised in Las Vegas and graduated from Western H.S. in 1979. The 2009 season will be his first at the JV level after spending 19 as a varsity head coach. Gomez spent his first seven years years at Eldorado High School, six of them as the head coach. He then moved to Durango High School for the next nine years building the baseball program from it's opening in 1993. After a two year absence from coaching he opened up his second new program at Spring Valley. Mike has been married to his wife Sondra for seventeen years and they have three children. Eddie age 15, Alyssa age 14 and Rylee age 9. Below is a list of highlights during Coach Gomez's career.

Chris Kelly-JV Assistant Coach
Chris Kelly begins his first year coaching after a highly decorated playing career. Chris lettered three years at Durango High School and as a junior led the Trailblazers to a State Championship in 1999. He followed that up with a remarkable senior year hitting 19 homers and driving in 74, while leading them to a State runner-up. He is the all time homerun and RBI leader for both a career and single season at Durango. Chris played at Pepperdine University for three years. He ranks second all-time in career homeruns for the Waves. He then moved to the professional ranks with Chicago White Sox. He has spent the past five years playing at various levels in the organization ultimately reaching the AAA level. Chris will serve as our hitting instructor and bench coach.

Alan Strait-JV Assistant Coach
Coach Strait joins the Grizzly coaching staff as a first year coach. He is a graduate of the Univeristy of Iowa and serves many important roles at Spring Valley high school. He runs the school newspaper and announces both the varsity basketball and football games. Coach Strait will coach first base and be in charge of team academics and is the outfield instructor.
