ABOUT US

Hillside Pop Warner Football League was re-established in the Fall of 2004. We are a “Proud” Association of the North Jersey Pop Warner Football League Family of four years! Our program has doubled in size and currently accommodates participants between the ages of 5 through 15. We are also proud to have “Four National Scholar Athlete” Honorees in 2007 and “Three National Scholar Athlete” Candidates for 2008, one of which achieved a 100% GPA!

For the 2010 season, we are under new leadership and will be introducing one new team, a “Cat” Flag Cheerleading team, which accommodates 5 and 6 year olds. And we are also bringing back the "Midget" Football team, which accomodates 11 through 15 year olds. We are also now the "Jr Comets".

Hillside Pop Warner’s objectives are to inspire our youth, regardless of race, creed, religion or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie “Pop” Warner. Hillside Pop Warner strives to make the game fun for all boys and girls. The program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond the playing or spirit days of those involved, such as; self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and sportsmanship.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Hillside Pop Warner Football League, Inc. is to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Through this active participation, Hillside Pop Warner teaches fundamental values, skills and knowledge that children will use throughout their lives.

OBJECTIVES

To encourage and increase youth participation in football, cheerleading and dance.

To ensure a safe and positive playing environment for all participants.

To instill life-long values of teamwork, dedication and a superior work ethic in the classroom and on the playing field.

POSITIVIE EXPERIENCES

Pop Warner programs have no tryouts or cutting of rosters.

Everyone participates under mandatory rules of play.

On-field coaching is allowed for younger age levels.

Individual awards are given only for academic excellence, not for on-field activities.

SAFE PLAYING ENVIRONMENT

Players are matched by age and weight levels.

There are strict mandatory equipment requirements.

Pop Warner provides Coaching Clinics and Risk Management Training.

An enforced national rule book incorporates time-tested rules.

A full-time executive staff supports all local associations and assists in sound policy creation.
