Merchants' 2009 Tournaments Set
The tournament schedule for the 2009 Kenosha Post 21 Merchants is set.
The Merchants will be hosting a pool of games in the annual Triple Crown Sports Kenosha Classic June 12-14 at Simmons Field and returning to the same venue the following weekend — June 18-21 — to host the annual Andy Smith Memorial Wood Bat Classic, which will feature games at Carthage College, Kenosha Bradford High School and Nash Park as well as Simmons Field.
Post 21 will hit the road in July for a pair of showcase tournaments, the Metro East Wood Bat Classic held at six locations in metropolitan St. Louis on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River July 2-5 and the Gopher Classic, the largest Legion showcase in the United States, held at various sites in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area July 10-14.
The Merchants will also be competing in a tournament at Laconia High School June 27-28. The host team will be the Appleton Doubledays, whose manager is the head baseball coach at Laconia High School. The tournament is a fundraiser for the Laconia High School baseball program.
